Luxury cottage at end of quiet private lane. South facing garden and own parking

Overview

Property

Updated: 27-Nov-2016
Two large king sized bedrooms, one twin with three en-suite, all with TV's.

Underbow, once a coach house, has been lovingly restored but is still quirky and full of character. Located down an extremely quiet private lane it has ample private parking for two cars. The house has its own first floor, fenced garden that is not over looked and is south facing with views across to Dartmoor. Moretonhampstead is on the doorstep so you can walk 100 metres to its centre for shops, tourist information, cafés and restaurants. If the sun is out the open air swimming pool is right there. The house has everything you could need, a solid wood kitchen with large range cooker, a wood burning stove, full central heating and every bedroom has its very own en-suite, two of these are shower rooms and one is a bathroom. All the beds have 100% luxury cotton waffle duvets and white fluffy towels. There is wi fi and four flat screen televisions (two with integrated DVD players) in the house and it has been filled with masses of books, games and toys as well as everything you could need for cooking up a storm in the kitchen!

Fabulous cottage in good location

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our time at Underbow. A really cosy cottage with comfy beds, fabulous furnishings and probably the best equipped kitchen we've ever found in a rental. Great location too being on the edge of Dartmoor with its walking trails, fabulous scenery and pretty villages but also within 30 minutes of the city of Exeter and other seaside towns nearby. Some good pubs locally and a superb deli in Moretonhampstead. Also great food at the Chagford Inn about 15 minutes away. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Perfect Cottage in the Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

Just had a great time in this perfect cottage. Very homely, the beds were super comfy and the kitchen was fully equipped and easy to use. The town of Moretonhampstead had lovely pubs and eateries full of friendly and welcoming people. This area is a perfect base to be in good travelling distance to other beautiful destinations in the South hams. We even ventured down to Padstow in Cornwall where we visited Rick Stein's fish and chip shop! (about an hour and a half drive), WELL WORTH a visit! Overall we had a fabulous holiday and little Lenny the chihuahua loved every minute of it too! Would definitely return, The Costello family.

fabulous cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage very clean, beds were heaven to sleep in, the lane was so quiet you would never know that you were only 5mins from the shops/pubs and a good variety of places to eat and what a bonus having plenty of parking for 2 cars right outside the front door.. We had a fabulous stay, wish we could have booked a month!

The place I would love to own.

  • 5 of 5

A great time was had by all. The cottage was spotless and a pleasure to stay for a week. Moretonhampstead is a little quiet, and a car is really a must if you want to travel any distance e.g to the fishing villages on the coast or the picture postcard scenery inland. We found more than enough room for 3 cars in the parking area. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your cottage, would certainly recommend for a family stay ,and it more than justifies my 5 star rating.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to bother writing a review on line as guests tend to write their praise in the visitors book. We feel it is an understated gem but then we're biased! Very pleased you had a wonderful trip.

A beautiful, well equipped cottage.

  • 5 of 5

The photos do not do justice to such a wonderful property. It was home from home, every little detail thought of. Well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge, lovely bathrooms and such comfortable beds.

A beautiful setting, lovely friendly locals. Lots of walking for the dog and if it rained, it soon passed!

Definitely will be returning.

Thank you Kimberly for the use of your home.

Owner's Response: Thank you Claire for your kind words and for making the time to write something. The photos were taken before it was quite finished and is something I have been thinking about having professionally done so thank you for your feedback.

Moretonhampstead is an ancient market town situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. It sits in the shelter of hills on three sides and the beautiful Wray Valley on the fourth. No matter which road you take you cannot fail to be impressed by the breathtaking views. The town is about 15 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter and 40 min from the beaches. The town offers visitors opportunities for hiking, cycling, and pony trekking, fishing and just relaxing. There are a variety of cafes, pubs, local shops, tea shops and a wonderful Deli. There is also a heated outdoor public swimming pool open during the summer. There are many NT properties close by, one of them being Castle Drogo, only 7 miles away and the miniature pony centre for children is only 5 min away. Bovey Castle and Gidleigh Park are very near for a special treat.

Facilities

From the Owner

This quiet property benefits from its own private parking for two cars right outside the front door. It also boasts a south facing first floor garden. Both of these are quite rare in Moreton. The parking saves you the hassle and fee of using the pay and display car parks in peak which can get quiet full.
