A wonderful family stayaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at La Maine. The weather was great, we made great use of the outside spaces, eating our meals outside, using the BBQ most nights. The pool was great & we were reassured to know there was a pool alarm to alert us with our toddler running around.

The inside was extremely well equipped and we were very happy to have so much space with 6 adults and a toddler.

We had some hot weather whilst we were staying which was fab, however there was limited shade later on in the afternoon by the pool/ larger outside dining space.

We would recommend this house, it is well looked after by the owners and they were on hand and gave us a warm welcome.

A superb well equipped villa in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

It is a great bonus that this villa is within a 30 minute drive from Bergerac airport.

We were met and greeted by the owners who were so welcoming with a welcome pack of wines and the local delicacies known as "cannele's".

The villa is well equipped and furnished and we would have no hesitation in recommending Le Maine to any of our family and friends.

The villa is within easy reach of lovely villages such as Eymet and Issigeac where fabulous markets are held.

A great place to stay in an excellent location.

Relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

We had the joy of stopping at Le Maine for one week (sadly). The process of booking and the information received from the start was very professional.

We arrived at the Gite and was greeted by the housekeeper who showed us around. The Gite was amazing both indoors the kitchen in particular was well equipped. The outside space was delightful. Plenty of spaces to relax all around the Gite so ideal if you want some quiet time to yourself. We arrived during a mini heatwave so the pool was paradise to cool down several times during the day and night.

The local village which is approx 15 min walk had a small but great bakery/patisserie with lovely croissants and baguettes for sale.

Within easy reach of the Gite were a number of other towns with supermarkets and other shops and Bergerac was only 20 mins away by car.

All in all a wonderful place.

Delightful country villa inside and out

  • 5 of 5

We based ourselves here for a week at the end of May. The villa was beautiful inside, and also outside with fantastic views in all directions and a lovely garden. With the lovely views and great weather we spent most of our time outside when not visiting the local towns, and really enjoyed the pool. There was the choice of a fifteen minute walk to the village of Singleyrac for bread and pastries or a short drive to Bouniagues for a slightly bigger patisserie, or a bigger supermarket at Sigoules for other food. This was a great place to stay to explore around Bergerac with enough at the villa to keep us occupied in style. We'd definitely come back and stay again.

A lovely and well located and well equipped villa.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic two weeks here, the villa is extremely comfortable with lots of space for relaxing outside with various different patio areas and the pool area was set out with good furniture and comfortable sun beds for chilling out. It has a very effective BBQ and plenty of tables and chairs for al-fresco dining. The inside boasts a big kitchen which is well equipped and a large dining room and sitting area. The beds were comfortable too and it's only a shame the sun shone and made us leave the comfort of them. Located south of Bergerac amongst the vineyards, we had a good time exploring the area and cycling through the vineyards. Definitely intend to visit this villa again. The owners were very friendly and had lots of good local information to share.

Immaculate home-perfect for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing holiday! Le Maine was a well equipped house with lots of thoughtful touches that helped us relax into our holiday. Linda and Stuart went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The pool was clean and warm, the stunning gardens and field behind the house (with badminton net, swings and little go-cart) provided plenty of room for the kids to run free. The house was the best we've ever stayed in, Thank you

Situated near the towns of Eymet and Miramont de Guyenne in the region of Aquitaine within the Bordeaux wine region and on the border of the Dordogne, Gironde and Lot et Garonne, France.

The nearest shops are located at Miramont de Guyenne where there are also tennis courts available to hire.

Bordeaux is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes drive drive to the west and Bergerac is 30 minutes to the north, St Emilion 45 minutes north west.

This is the ideal base from which to explore South West France. Located in the region of Aquitaine on the 3 borders of Gironde / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne and is considered to be one of the most picturesque areas of France.

The gently rolling countryside is a pleasure to explore, with excellent roads winding their way through fields and vineyards. Perfect cycling country!

The local towns have a good selection of shops including cafes, bars, restaurants and grocery stores.

The market squares are also hosts the many festivals and events throughout the year.

Wine and Gastronomy:

The Bordeaux wine region has 21 appellations. Visit some of the many local Caves and Chateau who offer free tastings and tours while you choose a bottle or two.

Not to be missed is the world famous St Emilion, just a short drive away. A designated world heritage site and is truly stunning. Explore characteristic narrow lanes lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants and interesting independent shops. A guided tour of the monolithic church is highly recommended.

Follow Rick Steins French Odyssey (Bordeaux to Bazas) trail across this region and encounter some of the best culinary experiences France has to offer.

Bordeaux:

This designated world heritage site is a must for all visitors. This cosmopolitan city offers a diverse range of attractions. The golden triangle has a fabulous range of shops for those shopaholics.

A rich variety of architecture forms the backdrop for the street cafe's, restaurants, bars and not forgetting the superb Grand Theatre.

Dordogne:

The Dordogne is just one of the many places to visit for day trips. Anything from Canoeing or boat trips on the Dordogne river to exploring ancient villages.

Markets:

Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementoes and gifts. Issigeac on a Sunday morning is a popular market to visit set in this lovely medieval town.

Activities:

Cycling

The countryside around Le Verger is perfect for cycling, whether it's just a gentle ride around to explore, or if you are a keen cyclist, a long training ride on fantastic stretches of road to get the blood pumping whilst taking in the fantastic views.

Canoeing and kayaking:

Canoe hire is available on the local rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it, whilst the large river Garonne is just 20 minutes away.

The Dordogne river is an hour away which has a faster pace but has plenty of canoe hire opportunities. You can literally just go with the flow and be picked up further down stream, of course the easiest way is a boat trip and let some one else do the work!

Beaches:

The Atlantic coast, with over 150 miles of golden sandy beaches is less than 2 hours drive away. Great fun for all the family, simply relax and soak up the sun or try your hand at surfing. Alternatively there are also fresh water lakes with a beach and facilities, the nearest is at Blasimon (about 30 minutes drive) and is very popular with families.

Golf:

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa.
