RIDER'S YARD set in delightful rolling countryside near Haddington

Overview

Property

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
Cottage, 1 bedroom, 4 people

A chic rural retreat set in delightful rolling countryside on the magnificent Whittinghame Estate near Haddington, newly-renovated Riders' Yard is a perfect bolthole for romantic getaways.

A charming, period mews cottage, Riders' Yard is tucked in the corner of a quaint courtyard in the grounds of grand Whittinghame House. The location offers guests the best of both worlds. The cottage is set in a peaceful, rural situation amongst mature woodland amidst the stunning rolling East Lothian countryside. Yet the popular East Lothian towns of Dunbar, North Berwick and Gullane are all within 15 miles and the magnificent city of Edinburgh is only 26 miles from the cottage.

The newly-renovated accommodation is presented to a high standard throughout in a contemporary country chic style with stripped wooden floors, muted Farrow and Ball colours and cosy Anta Tweeds, with splashes of colour from eye-catching artwork.

For warmer days, a door from the living area opens onto a pretty, private, tiered garden. There is a small courtyard on the lower level with a table and chairs for outside dining. A decked area above provides a secluded spot to read or book or marvel at the fabulous star displays at night.

There’s a Co-op supermarket, butcher, deli and Post Office in the pretty village of East Linton nearby. There is an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes locally at East Linton, Dunbar, North Berwick and Gullane.

Riders' Yard is very well-placed for exploring the local area. The renowned East Lothian beaches are only a 20 minute drive from the cottage. For the energetically minded there is world-renowned golf, fishing, cycling and walking on the doorstep. For those who prefer the quieter life, the peaceful, secluded location and stunning rolling countryside is the perfect spot to get away from it all.

Cozy and well-equipped accommodation!

  • 5 of 5

Everything is as nice and comfortable as you can see on the photos. Riders Yard is a bit out-of-way, not easy to locate, but clean, well-equipped and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much.
