Perfect weekend away!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Friday evening and were greeted with home baking! Valerie gave us a warm welcome and all the essential information on the house. She left us with plenty of maps and brochures so we could plan our weekend. We were all very impressed with the house - very spacious and spotless with all the features of a modern house. Without delay we headed off on a 2 hour walk to the ancient forts and the beaches nearby. The following day was taken up with visiting the grotto on Valentia and walking from there to the lighthouse and back. The next stop was to the very impressive Kerry Cliffs near Portmagee. Then on to Reenroe beach for a refreshing walk before heading back to the house and getting ready for a meal in Cahirciveen and a play in the hall in Filemore. Sunday had a slow start with Mass and later a visit to 'the Rock', a viewing platform within walking distance of the house. Action packed and really enjoyable!

Thank you Valerie for your kind hospitality!!

The location is perfect to explore the beautiful countryside and near enough to the town of Cahirciveen. Perfect for a family, good feeling of space with an extensive front lawn. Valerie and Brendan are great hosts and always willing to help. Brendan's fishing trips are superb, one of the highlights of our trip. Well equipped and warm, all utilities in good working order. Highly recommend this house.

Perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for my party of 8. The three couples and two singles each had their own rooms. The house was very spacious and there was enough room for all of us around the table and for all of us to be in the sitting room. We were delighted with the muffins upon arrival and Valerie and Brendan were welcoming and informative about the area. Brendan took us out on his boat, which was enjoyed by all. Prior to arriving, I had some hesitation as Caherciveen itself received a non-flattering review in a Lonely Planet guide. We were delighted with the town and found it full of interesting shops, restaurants and pubs and amazingly friendly people. We very much enjoyed the walk into town along a fuchsia lined road. Would highly recommend this house to any group!

The house in Cahersiveen is very spacious and very nice furnished. From one of the upstairs bedrooms you have a lovely view of the coast and the sea. We (two adults) stayed there for a week in August and used only the ground floor. The most charming landlady lives in the adjoinig house. As we spent long days outdoors walking on the Ring of Kerry, we only had contact with her on our first and last days. We regret that we didn´t find the opportunity to talk with her more often, because she is avery kind and warm person.

The house is situated in a wonderful quiet area on the outskirts of Cahersiveen - very close to the two ring forts and Ballyberry Castle. It´s also close to "Daly´s Seafood", were we bought two lobsters at an unbeatable price.

All in all, it is the perfect basis for exploring the Ring of Kerry and Killarney.
