Explore the Ring of Kerry

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our three teenage boys stayed here a week in June 2017. It is a lovely, spacious modern home and was immaculately clean. With 5 bedrooms and a large eat-in kitchen, we had plenty of room to spread out. It is located just outside Caherciveen on a quiet road with pretty views. Within a mile or so are the ruins of Ballycarbery Castle and two stone ring forts. There are two beaches just a few miles further down the road. The Caherciveen area is ideal for exploring the Ring of Kerry. We especially enjoyed Derrynane National Park, Valentia Island and Kells Bay Gardens. If you book ahead, a trip to Skellig Michael is an adventure. The owner Valerie O'Connell is very friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to make us feel at home. We highly recommend this home and hope to return soon ourselves!

Beautiful, well appointed home within walking distance to a castle and stone forts

  • 5 of 5

This home accommodated our family of 8. Valerie was a great host who made sure we knew how to use the appliances in the home and where we should spend our time exploring the region.

Wonderful family holiday

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean, spacious (we were 8) and we had everything we needed. The hosts were very helpful and friendly when we arrived and throughout our stay.

It was located a short drive out of town, and very close to beaches, forts, and other attractions.

The hosts told us about plenty of things to do and we particularly enjoyed the boat with wheels trip!

Would highly recommend for families/groups as plenty of space.

Perfect weekend away!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Friday evening and were greeted with home baking! Valerie gave us a warm welcome and all the essential information on the house. She left us with plenty of maps and brochures so we could plan our weekend. We were all very impressed with the house - very spacious and spotless with all the features of a modern house. Without delay we headed off on a 2 hour walk to the ancient forts and the beaches nearby. The following day was taken up with visiting the grotto on Valentia and walking from there to the lighthouse and back. The next stop was to the very impressive Kerry Cliffs near Portmagee. Then on to Reenroe beach for a refreshing walk before heading back to the house and getting ready for a meal in Cahirciveen and a play in the hall in Filemore. Sunday had a slow start with Mass and later a visit to 'the Rock', a viewing platform within walking distance of the house. Action packed and really enjoyable!

Thank you Valerie for your kind hospitality!!
