Lovely house in lovely location

  • 5 of 5

There for 3 nights (6 adults and 7 kids). Lovely big house with lots to keep the kids entertained. Set in a really nice location with walks on the door step. Great fun was had by all - would go back.

A Weekend in a Fairytale

  • 4 of 5

Had a splendid weekend at Cleugh Manor celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary. We were a party of 13 comprising 8 adults, 2 young adults 16 and 22, 3 children 3, 5 and 7 and one dog. Friday evening was spent eating chilli and exploring the stunning house and its facilities with children living out their favourite fairy tales. On Saturday the weather was fine and bright and we managed a walk to the reservoir and around the grounds, taking a peep in the historic reservoir navvies’ hut at the side of the drive, but as we had so much to experience inside the house we returned in the early afternoon, some to the games room for snooker and some to the hot tub with a bottle of champagne. Saturday evening after cocktails and a spot of fine dining in the grand dining room some withdrew to the drawing room whilst others returned to the games room for a return match before gathering in the cinema for a late movie. Sadly it was too cloudy to experience the dark skies however in the early hours the clouds cleared and stars did appear briefly just before dawn. Wonderful! This is indeed a grand house lavishly furnished in a baroque style with luxurious bathrooms. The kitchen is large and beautifully appointed but not adequately equipped for cooking for a large group. A full English breakfast for 13 people was achieved only by improvisation. But a fabulous experience one to recommend and which we will no doubt want to repeat.

Amazing house in beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Cleugh Manor, what a fantastic property with some amazing rooms and great touches. Our party of 13, including 7 children ages 6-12, were very well catered for. We loved the pool, the cinema room, the games room, and sitting out in the courtyard. The walk to the reservoir is lovely, the kids really enjoyed raspberry picking along the way. The surrounding area is beautiful, it's well worth the short trip to Kielder Water, and we would highly recommend the facilities at the Calvert Trust where we spent a fun if terrifying afternoon on the high ropes course. Jedburgh is a lovely town, well worth a visit. It's a long way to shops of any size, so for a party of our size an online shop at Asda in Galashiels, delivered shortly after our arrival, was a good call! We definitely hope to visit again in the future.

We had a lovely week at this impressive home . There was something for everyone young and old . We were initially disapointed as pool was unfortunatley out of order . The Owners were very appologetic as this was a recent set back . The games room and.Cinema were well used and kids spent hours in it with its very own pop corn machine . We had lovely themed evenings in the large dining room well set out for large get togethers . There was also a gym and hot tub with steam room well used by all . We had a FAB time

Cleugh Manor- a truly impressive property

  • 4 of 5

we rented the property for a family get-together. there were 10 adults, 5 children, one baby and one dog in our party.

with 6 bedrooms, accomodating our party was not a problem. the beds were large and very comfortable.the kitchen was large and well

equiped although the hobs on the central island were not working.there were other hobs available as well as two electric ovens so self

catering did not present a problem.there is also more than adequate fridge and freezer space.the conservatory was well used by our party

being handily situated next to the kitchen.upstairs, the bar area was a great place for the family to congregate in the evenings, the cinema next

door being ideal to keep the children happy.relaxing in the hot tub also proved very popular. the swimming pool was well used by the whole party. all in all, we had a fantastic time and would have no hesitation in recommending cleugh manor to any one looking for a relaxing break

in the country.

however, there were one or two things that could have been improved. the pool was rather cold although fine when you got over the initial shock.we were under the impression it was heated.one of the toilets in an upstairs bedroom had a slight leak. we had no telephone landline

and no internet connection for three of the four days we were there.

but the universal comment at the end of our stay was simply that we all had a fantastic time

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the wonderful review, the staff are very grateful and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. The swimming pool is heated (maintained at 27 Degrees) which is recommended temperature for domestic pools. Commercial pools are usually slightly warmer. We also use Air Source Heat Pumps which are more environmentally friendly. We have however added a wood burning stove to heat the pool up further by 1 or 2 degrees when in cold weather. We were not aware of the Internet Problems or Telephone issues, but when it was reported to us we got these resolved. The problem was due to the UPS system that serves as an intermediary for the House Communication Systems failing and had to be restarted. We apologise for he inconvenience, and we have now ensured that a secondary back up system is in place in case one fails. We are really glad you had a great time and we are looking forward to your return.
