Perfect place
Everything was as described and it was perfect for us. Excellent amount of social space for all 7 people - including skii gear. Easy walk into town for shopping, and easy access for the Nassfeld ski bus. I can't recommend this house enough - if you're a large party looking for enough space to have dinner and all sit around a TV in the evenings, this is perfect.

Cosy comfy holiday home in Hermagor
Our holiday in Hermagor We visited Margaret’s lovely cozy house in February, for a joint skiing and skating bonanza! The house is an easy five minute walk to the centre of town The ski-bus stop is close to the house, if you don’t fancy driving. We loved the kitchen which was large, bright cheerful and well stocked with equipment, we were able to buy lots of lovely fresh local produce and cooked some fabulous meals. We also loved the log burning stove, very atmospheric when snow was falling, but be warned with the central heating on, it soon becomes unbearably hot, just two logs at a time! Margaret was very kind and hospitable and although not on site, quickly answered the couple of queries we had when we called. We’ll be back !

Clean, well equipped, well located,spacious
Our family enjoyed a wonderful week. The accomadation was easily located with the travel directions being comprehensive, and being next door to a driving school was a good landmark. We found the chalet clean and well equipped and warm once the initial heating hiccup was solved. The town is a 5 minute walk down the slight hill. We could not recommend the coffee / cake shop right in the town, enough. Generally felt though that the town is rather sleepy , maybe time of year! . Plenty of food outlets but little else. We hired a car which meant out the door and at the ski resort in 10 minutes. Would definately recommend the accomadation and the resort . Thank you also to the owners for being always so accessable. Just one issue, the chap assigned to meet us could not understand us when we telephoned him and he sent his ? Daughter instead and she was little better.

Well equipped house for a good ski holidays
We were 2 families with 3 children for the first time in Hermagor. All the rooms in the house have a good size so we had no problems with our stuff. Particularly important was for us that we have a good internet connection. The kitchen is as well good equipped with a dishwasher and all the necessary tools for cooking. The ski area Nassfeld is about 15 minutes away by car. We had a good skiing holidays at Nassfeld ( thanks to the snow guns )although there was no snow at the mountains in Austria at that time. We would recommend this house for a good holidays. Visited in December 2015

Super Location; A plethora of Stunning Attractions
The house is based in hermagor and on first impression is very well presented, clean & cosy house. It is extremely spacious & plenty of storage space for all luggage & any equipment too. The views front & side of the mountains are incredible. If skiing, the ski bus is twice an hour & picks up 2 minutes walk from the house outside the POST OFFICE. It takes 15 minutes. The last bus is 5:00 back, but if you miss that, a later bus runs until a little later on in the evening but only drops off in the centre of Hermagor so you would have about a 10 minute walk back in that case. Lovely restaurants & bars in the town. There is a vast amount of lakes & walks & sights to see. All incredible photographic opportunities! Skiing is amazing with a full few mountains up to 2,000ft spanning Austria & Italy. The food is great & you MUST have a Willi Schmitt or Bombardio alcoholic beverage to finish the day. Well worth a visit all round & flights from Luton to Ljubliana are dirt cheap, and car hire is £40 approx for a week.

We fell in love with this area of Austria on our first visit in 2013. We had visited more northern areas of Austria previously and love the people, the mountains and lakes and we get mountain sickness when we return to our home in North Nottinghamshire as it is a lot flatter!!
The Austrians are so friendly and welcoming, speak English sometimes and we enjoy trying out our restricted German skills too.
The lakes in this area remind us of the English Lake district but with better weather and higher peaks. They are so attractive all year round, we enjoy walking and swimming in the Summer in the warm lake at Pressegersee. We would love to retire to this area eventually and as this is not so far away, we decided to let other people enjoy our lovingly refurbished home for the next few years at least.

Why they chose this property

Our first visit to this area was in 2013 when we were looking for an investment property in Austria. We felt an immediate attraction to the area and the lovely people that we met. We visited this property amongst several others but this one we fell in love with because of its situation close to the lovely town of Hermagor but also being on the edge of town so we can walk into pastures and woods just as easily as town itself! It is a lovely light and sunny property which was another selling point but having been stripped to bare walls by the sellers, was a blank canvas for us to put our mark on.
The Nassfeld ski ing area is the best kept secret in Europe, we had never heard of it before and couldnt believe our luck when we first visited.
We love the beautiful lakes too, outdoor swimming in the summer should not be missed and the summer climate is more Mediterranean than further North. We are also very near to the Italian and Slovenian border which influences the cuisine and I love Italian cooking. We also loved the idea of being so close to Venice and have had several trips to the City already.

What makes this property unique

The Nassfeld Ski area (7Km) is apparently in the top 10 in Europe but enjoyed by fewer tourists than the more Northern areas of Austria ,the ski area is a beautiful place to spend time whether you ski, board or hike or even to enjoy the apres ski and fresh mountain air at one of the many mountain cafes where prices are amongst the cheapest in Europe too!. The ski bus stops about 150 metres from our house or it is easy to drive there in the car too.
There is ice skating available at the local ice rink (need your own skates) and at the beautiful lake of Pressegersee where you can hire skates. In Summer at the local football stadium, my husband likes to watch the local teams play and in Winter there are ice hockey matches to watch too.
On a sunny day in winter or summer we love to sit out on the terrace and enjoy eating breakfast or lunch while looking at the mountains and the local bird life too. If you are lucky, there are Eagles to see and in the pastures and woods, deer are very common too. This place is paradise for us, we hope you enjoy it too.
