Villa Barbara ~ Looking for an authentic ‘wow factor’ stay on Lake Garda?

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
Elegant Italianate-style Villa, sleeps 8 with garden and private swimming pool

Boasting a breathtaking lake view backdrop from its serene parkland setting, this large period villa (ID 1458) provides families and groups of 8 with an exclusive base from which to soak up the best of Lake Garda.

Reached by a timeless and regal entrance which features a palm-lined walkway and unique crescent portico entrance, the Italianate-style villa provides an elegant mix of exotic romance and modern day exclusivity.

Throughout the luxury villa, an array of precious artefacts and beautiful antiquities set the tone for an enchanting stay in all seasons. Guests will easily feel at home within the villa’s timeless splendour and flexible family-friendly appeal; with air conditioning, central heating, fans and a fireplace providing a welcoming home-from-home whatever the weather. Equipped with paid WIFI access too, the spacious 2200sqm villa is fully at home in the 21st century.

Upon entering the bright and inviting entrance hallway, a host of regal reception rooms serve as the ideal venues for relaxing and entertaining. A beautiful and appealing living room furnished with a chesterfield sofa suite enables guests to curl up in style and enjoy a favourite movie to the Sky TV provided. A music stereo is also on hand to set the scene.

Guests can easily wine and dine their stay away to the separate formal dining room. Offering regal elegance under the splendour of a crystal chandelier and enticing fresco ceiling, a truly spellbinding dinner party awaits! The separate modern fitted country-style kitchen with breakfast table and chairs is also on hand to provide a sunny and informal setting that is perfect for a morning coffee or a relaxed Sunday brunch. All the must-have cooking appliances are provided here, including a cooker hob, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and dishwasher. Perfectly accompanying the internal dining arrangements is also a sunny outdoor dining area with BBQ.

The villa’s elegant sleeping accommodation is ideally suited for versatile group stays and family getaways. The sleeping arrangements comprise a spacious master double bedroom with private lake view balcony, a second lake view double bedroom, a third lake view double bedroom and 2 separate single bedrooms ideal for children or nannies. A fully fitted family bathroom, 2 modern shower rooms and a cloakroom WC with access to private laundry facilities complete the layout of this authentic and romantic holiday retreat.

Relaxing within the sumptuous private garden, guests can easily feel away from it all. As well as the charming alfresco dining area and beautiful landscaped grounds, guests can also make the most of the sunny private outdoor swimming pool and the convenient private parking.

From its convenient setting, the exclusive villa is situated within easy walking distance of the hustle and bustle of Desenzano town centre. Here guests will find a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and bars to savour, alongside the town’s lakeshore, popular beach, charming harbour, historical castle and convenient train links to Verona, Venice, Brescia and Milan.

North Lake Garda:

At the northern end of the lake, the landscape becomes more dramatic. Gentle hills give way to Alpine surroundings. Craggy mountains tower above the lake’s edge and breezy winds provide a perfect environment for windsurfing and paragliding.

The main resorts at the north end of the lake include the pretty town Riva del Garda, the lake’s second largest settlement. Riva del Garda is a dynamic and buzzy place, with numerous bustling gelaterias, cafes and restaurants. Among its historic highlights is its moated castle, known as Rocco, which is home to an interesting town museum.

Also on the north eastern shore is Malcesine, an enchanting, laid-back settlement with an enviable lakefront location. It’s fronted by a huge castle and backed by steep mountains — in between it’s a cramped labyrinth of atmospheric narrow alleys, winding lanes and cobbled tracks. From Malcesine, you can take a cable car up to the summit of Monte Baldo, which offers truly breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and is the starting point for several hiking trails.

These are by no means the only towns on the lake though. At various points around its perimeter, there are other picturesque and peaceful harbour villages so pretty they look like they’ve been lifted from a postcard.

Getting there and getting around:

Lake Garda is served by several major airports, making it extremely easy to access.

Verona Valerio Catullo (Verona Villafranca)

Verona’s Valerio Catullo airport (also known as Verona Villafranca) is located just 15 kilometres away from Peschiera del Garda on the southern end. It is extremely convenient for the east side of the lake, which can be reached by car in around half an hour. To get to Lake Garda by train, use public transport to get to Porta Nuova train station in Verona and catch a train from there.
