Coastal family accommodation in the heart of Brancaster village

A four bedroom detached house ideal for exploring the stunning Norfolk coast.

Dune House was designed by the well known architect Thomas Faire and built to a very high specification in 2003 by local builders of Burham Market. It offers all the comforts of a modern house whilst being built in style that fits comfortably with its surroundings. The house has double glazing throughout and oil fired central heating. In addition, it has a woodburner set in a large inglenook fireplace for those cold but cosy evenings.

Dune House offers an 'escape from it all' and activity based holiday by the coast. We appreciate that some guests need that little bit extra, so we have installed free unlimited Wi-Fi and Bt Sport.

Having had years of experience in the hospitality industry, I understand how important holidays and happy guests are and the need to continually improve our house! we have just completed two bathrooms upstairs this January and have plans to refurbish our kitchen, hall, and downstairs area in January 2017..... watch this space!

The ground floor offers a spacious sitting room with a wood burning stove for colder evenings, flat screen TV and DVD player. The large sofas make it welcoming room for our guests to sit and relax. The generous sized open plan kitchen undoubtedly the heart of the house. It is fully equipped to suit a large family or two families sharing and includes a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The table & chairs at one end of the room comfortably seat 8 people with French doors nearby that open directly on to the rear garden.

The adjoining Utility Room housing the washing machine and tumble dryer combined offers a useful space to store muddy or wet boots. There is also a downstairs cloakroom.

To the front of the house on the first floor are two double bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a generous kingsize bed whilst the second bedroom has a double bed. Both rooms have bedside tables & lights, wardrobe and ample drawer storage. Each bedroom has their own hairdryer for guests use.

Adjoining the Master bedroon is a spacious newly refurbished en-suite shower room fitted with good quality white fittings and large electric power shower, sink with an LED lit mirror above, a small unit underneath, a heated towel rail & w.c.

Overlooking the front garden are two further bedrooms. The third bedroom is a twin room with two single beds. Suitable for adults or children. The fourth bedroom has a full size single bed with the option of a pull out bed underneath which would be suitable for a child. A travel cot is available should one be required.

Quality bed linen & towels for our guests are included in the price.

The main family bathroom, just refurbished to include a bath, over bath shower, his and her sink above bathroom unit, large heated towel rail and wc.

I am thrilled with the new tiles in the bathroom and en suite! I hope you like them too!

To the front of the house is a practical gravelled area allowing off-street parking for three cars whilst the rear garden is private and fully enclosed with a lawned area and outside seating for 8 people. Although facing North West, the rear garden receives the sun later in the afternoon and evening - perfect for 'al-fresco' dining. A barbeque is available although we ask guests to purchase their own charcoal.

We are a family of five who have been visiting this coastline for many years. Although the children are growing up fast we wanted to continue spending as much time as possible by this wonderful coastline and had the opportunity to purchase Dune House in much loved Brancaster. We very much enjoy the outdoor life and Dune House gives us the ideal base to do so.

Great base for family holiday

We had a lovely holiday at Dune House. It is even nicer than it looks in the photos. Immaculately clean and very well equipped - loads of crockery, glasses, cutlery, even children's mugs/plates etc. Lovely big squashy sofas and cushions, enclosed and peaceful garden, comfy beds, super new bathrooms. Dune House suited us very well for our three generations family holiday - it was spacious enough to spend time together but also plenty of room for a bit of peace and quiet when required!

A lovely family accommodation in a great location

We spent a week in this spacious,clean and well presented house. The property is perfectly located to explore this area of Norfolk and it's beautiful beaches!! The owner and her representative were very helpful. We would definitely recommend to family and friends!

A wonderful holiday in a great house.

We arrived at Dune House and were immediately impressed by the house. It looks well kept from the outside and there is plenty of room for two cars to park in the drive.

The interior is very attractive and scrupulously clean. There is plenty of room in the bedrooms and bathrooms which were fitted out with everything one needs.

There is a small enclosed garden with a table and barbecue of which we made good use.

We had a really lovely holiday. Having picked one of the hottest weeks of the year, we spent many happy hours on the beach which is five minutes away by car, or you can easily walk. There are several good eating places nearby; we and the children much enjoyed The Jolly Sailor which is a few minutes away.

All in all a brilliant holiday and we would have no hesitation in choosing Dune House again next year.

Great house and great Brancaster base

We and another family shared the house over the Christmas holidays, and had a wonderful North Norfolk week. Wood burning fires after cold beach walks, big kitchen to share dinners and comfy beds to sleep in at night, night-time torch walks to the local pub - it lived up to our dreams of a cozy winter hideaway. We booked Dune House in part because it was one of the few places we could find in the area that didn't allow pets (my husband is highly allergic and we've struggled in other rentals) - it's no small prize to find such a place and have it feel some homey as well.

Great location comfortable house summer or winter

We stayed at Dune house bringing together a number of friends and family. The house is so comfortable with lovely clean beds where we all slept so soundly. With an easy walk to the beach (15 mins) we left the car on the drive and enjoyed many moments on the wild stunning and beautiful unspoilt coastline. There is so much to do on this costal stretch that the week flies by but having Dune house as a base meant we had a place that was relaxing/well equipped/and conjusive for bigger groups to be comfortable with space to spread out as well as connect over a meal. The local Ship Inn provided lovely food on nights we ate out whilst the fish hut sold such fresh fish it melted in our mouths on the nights we ate in our holiday home. All in all a wonderful week would recommend and will be back!

Scolding/Childs stay in Dune House

Very comfortable house for the 8 of us. Everything cater for including Cot & High Chair for the 2 year old. Lovely walk (or short drive) to the beach. Other attractions easily accessible by car. We would definitely book again.

Dune House gives us and hopefully you our guests an ideal base to explore Norfolk. It's location is perfect for the sandy beaches whilst having a range of activities close by. Dune House is spacious, light and airy and offers a relaxing 'at-home' feel. The kitchen/diner is very well stocked for those of you who, like me, enjoy cooking. The layout of the large kitchen/diner makes it ideal to cook & chat over a drink at the same time,

Nearest Airport : Stansted International at 92 Miles Nearest Barpub : The Ship, nearly opposite the house! at 0.12 Miles Nearest Ferry : Harwich at 110 Miles Nearest Golf : Brancaster Links Course at 0.5 Miles Nearest Train : Mainline - King's Lynn at 21 Miles Nearest Motorway : M11 although 'A' roads run from motorway to coast. at 94 Miles Nearest Restaurant : The Ship - renowned for its food, at 0.12 Miles Nearest Beach : Brancaster's golden sandy beach at 1 Miles Car: recommended

The Norfolk coastline is renowned for its wide open vistas and its natural habitat nature reserves with the traditional coastal fishing village of Brancaster being a superb place to explore the exhilarating Norfolk coast. The village and surrounding areas has a wealth of activities to offer

Less than a mile from Dune House is Brancaster's four mile stretch of golden sands. Experience the wide panoramic views and all this coastline has to offer. Of course no visit to the coastline would be complete without a 'seal spotting' boat trip (that runs daily) from Morston to Blakeney. Quite often these beautiful creatures can also be seen swimming close to the shore near the Brancaster Links Golf Club - just 0.5 miles from Dune House. If you are looking for something a little more active, the Brancaster Activity Centre offers a variety of sailing and water sports whilst nearby Deepdale & Morston both offer cycle hire. Immediate village facilities include a children's park, tennis courts and village store.

A little further afield is the Georgian village of Burnham Market which is host to a range of individual boutique shops, cafes and pubs whilst Thornham offers visitors the opportunity to experience beautiful crafts, locally stocked farm shop and delicatessen. The 'grandeur' of Norfolk may be experienced by a visit to Holkham Hall or the Sandringham Estate.

Just 10 miles from Brancaster is the town of Wells-next-the-sea which hosts the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway with the longest narrow gauge steam railway in the world - a great day out for those with young children. The Wells Harbour railway also offers a narrow gauge railway experience between beach & town from mid-March to mid-October.

Just a minute or two from Dune House is the renowned Ship Pub which offers a superb choice of food likely to suit all tastes. Alternatively, tried and tested is The Neptune at Old Hunstanton, The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, The Orange Tree in Thornham and not forgetting The Jolly Sailor for pizzas!

For events, the Norfolk & Norwich Festival offers a wide variety of theatre, art & music throughout the county between 8-24 May 2015, whilst the Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios (23 May - 7 June 2015) give artists the opportunity to display their creative work.

On a practical note, the nearest bank is in Hunstanton approximately 7 miles from Brancaster with the nearest hospital located in King's Lynn, 23 miles from Brancaster.

From the Owner

As a family we think best beaches are Brancaster and Holkham. Best kept (former!) secret are the seals on Brancaster beach - if you turn left behind golf club and keep walking there are usually find several swimming close to the shoreline. For a day out - Norfolk Wildlife Trust Cley Visitor Centre. My Favourite: coffee in Blakeney and then walk to Wiveton Hall cafe for lunch, Amazing food! For birdwatchers, the coastline is renowned for its nature reserves and in our view nowhere in the UK can improve on this.

  • Chris Smith our dedicated keyholder who lives locally will meet our guests, show them the 'essential' areas of the house & their workings. Should anything be amiss, Chris will be able to help you. He will meet with you again at the end of your stay to ensure you have a smooth departure. Directions to the cottage: From Burnham Market take the Brancaster road to its junction with the A149 coast road at Burnham Deepdale. Turn left and continue through Brancaster Staithe into Brancaster village. Continue past 'Branodunum' and the fish shop and Dune House is a further 200 yards on the right-hand side.
