Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for a lovely stay. What a wonderful home base to return to after a hard day of exploring and /or lying on the beach. Thank you as well for all of the thoughtful touches – the beach gear in particular. We have added a set of kid friendly “boules” to the lot. We’ll recommend you to our friends and family.

ABOVE AND BEYOND!

  • 5 of 5

I mean "Above and Beyond" in more ways than one! First of all, the location of this apartment is perfect. The stunning views 'above' the charming village of Villefranche-sur-Mer were unbeatable! The windows look out over the tile rooftops and colorful buildings which represent everything we had imagined about the South of France! 'Beyond' the picturesque village lies the sparkling waters of French Riviera, with the beautiful backdrop of ancient hilltop villages! We wanted to move in!

Secondly, our host Muriel and her husband, William definitely went above and beyond in their hospitality and helpfulness! William had arranged to pick us up from the train station and we also booked some tours with him for our group during our stay. He was very polite and sweet and let us tailor the tours to our personal preferences. We took a wonderful trip to Eze and spent a day in Italy, among other fantastic adventures! We were able to experience much more of this beautiful area than we would have had we ventured out on our own. Would recommend doing this 110% William also retrieved us from the apartment early on departure day to get us to the airport in plenty of time. Invaluable!

We also shopped a bit on our trip, purchasing more than our luggage would allow. Isn't that what one does in France?? Well after a futile search for packing tape (on our last day), we came to the conclusion that part of being a picturesque French village is not riddling the shops with unnecessary indulgences such as shipping supplies ;) So, we had an enormous cardboard box filled with our treasures and no way to get it home to Oregon! Without hesitation, Muriel agreed to ship it home for us upon our departure! (This was no small feat I'm sure, as it took two of us to lift it!) As promised, we received it shortly after our arrival back home, as well as an email to check that it arrived safely!

We had a fantastic stay here, walking down to the waterfront every day, marveling at the beauty that surrounded us. We loved the fact that we felt as if were living like the locals, and the warm welcome from our hosts made it especially comfortable. Thank you Muriel and William for a wonderful first visit to the South of France! We would love to come back to stay!

Wonderful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was very comfortable and spotlessly clean! The view is so beautiful! Muriel has put a lot of effort into making the apartment welcoming. She left us a welcome basket of snacks as well as cold drinks in the fridge. She provided helpful information on the town, where the closest shops are, restaurant recommendations, how to catch the bus etc. There is also a binder of detailed instructions, on how to run all the appliances (with photographs), which we thoroughly appreciated! There were beach towels, mats, umbrellas and even a cooler for our lunch! She also kindly let us leave our suitcases there until later in the day so that we could sightsee before our late flight that afternoon. Highly recommend staying here!

Relaxing Riviera Stay

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to explore the Riviera! The apartment is freshly renovated, and very well stocked with items for the beach, cooking and comfortable relaxation. Our family enjoyed staying here for a week. We were able to explore Villefranche and the surrounding areas. As well, the apartment is very close to the old town, citadel and beach. Everything is just a few flights of stairs away! The view of the water from the apartment is stunning and the balcony is the perfect place to enjoy coffee in the morning, or a drink at night.

Muriel does a wonderful job of explaining the amenities of the apartment, and has left easy to follow instructions for anything you might need. The apartment was spotless when we arrived and Muriel stocked the fridge with a few items for us so we were nourished and hydrated for the day. The location is just outside of the tourist center of town. It is in a residential area with a fair amount of traffic, so be aware when walking to and from the city center.

We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this apartment to our friends and family.

Owner's Response: Dear C. Family, it's been also a pleasure to meet you and have you stay with us. Thanks so much for taking good care of the apartment and for taking the time to give me a review as this is what I work very hard for ! So really happy when it's all there ! I sure hope to see you again sometime. Keep in mind that if you'd like to learn French the Insitute of Français is only minutes walk away ! Next time if you'd rather not have a car, you might want to try our private tours and discover all the local secrets we'd be thrilled to share with you ! Have a great year ! Muriel and William Berdat

Excellent location and awesome views!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my family for a lovely week this summer. The apartment was very comfortable, well appointed and the views are amazing! It was only a 3 minute walk to the bus, no need at all for a car. It was a wonderful base to explore an amazing region. We hope to be back very soon!

Truly the BEST

  • 5 of 5

This is a 5 star apartment just as you see from all the reviews. My husband and I have rented through VRBO three years in a row -- all European cities. This is by far the best apartment to date. First of all, Muriel and Erin were superb as contact/manager -- everything from rental to departure went smoothly. All needs/questions answered in a timely and cheerful manner. The apartment itself is so comfortable and bright - very clean & modern. Beds are comfortable, air-conditioning a plus on those hot days/nights, kitchen truly amazing with all equipment, condiments and cleaning supplies, living room/kitchen bright with ample seating for dining and relaxing, WIFI works beautifully, TV even has English speaking channels, balcony absolutely great -- spent a lot of time there w/espresso or wine in hand enjoying the view, bathroom clean/modern & hot showers for everyone! The neighborhood is very safe and the trip down the hill or steps is close to bakery, grocery, restaurants, Tourist Office, bus, post office and Wed/Sat/Sun market. Muriel provided EXCELLENT step-by-step instructions for operating washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven, stove, TV & microwave. Here is the bonus -- cool breezes almost always and fireworks on any random night!

We love the charm of Southern France and this location gives you loads of opportunity to take day-trips. The apartment has many maps, brochures, books and bus schedules to plan your day. The gals at the Tourist Office are very friendly and helpful. It is very easy to travel to Eze, Monaco, Antibes, St. Paul de Vence, Vence, Tourettes-sur-loup, Cannes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice, Tende, Ventimillia - Italy, Roquebrune, Cap Ferrat. We went to the flea market in Ventimillia twice -- found some good buys there. I would definitely recommend the 2-hr boat tour from the Villefranche harbor to Monaco & return -- very relaxing and gives you that "lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" as you pass the magnificent yachts that hug the coast. Restaurants/food in the area - delicious!

We will definitely return -- I would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to enjoy "home" away from home, the charm of this small city next to the Sea, & the warm & engaging French people. This was our home for a month -- in a word "FANTASTIC."
