About the property

1 Double: 1 twin: 2 Bathrooms. 1 with bath and shower.

Attractive ground floor apartment with patio leading directly onto one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches on the West Coast with excellent swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear water. Comprising 2 air conditioned bedrooms with powerful en suite showers. The main feature of the apartment is its inside/outside living with beautiful views of the Caribbean, especially at sunset. There are several excellent restaurants nearby and the local shopping centre and supermarket is within easy reach. You are 1.5km away from Sandy Lane and its world class golf facilities and watersports, fishing etc are virtually on your doorstep if you require.

The apartment has internet access and on site security.

Little Reef is well situated for multiple activities. Directly on a very beautiful beach there is snorkelling on the reef a short swim out from the shore. Boat activities are on offer from passing operators on the way to the big resorts past Sandy Lane. Fishermen bring in the catch in Fitts Village five minutes down the beach. Jordan's Supermarket is five minutes walk along the beach and there are restaurants within easy reach by foot or car. There are no high rise blocks of apartments, no fast food outlets nearby but local food restaurants are within walking distance. if you want to shop, need a Bank a good meal or a pizza, even a bit of night life, Holetown is fifteen minutes away by bus or car and Bridgetown and the South Coast around twenty minutes by car and the busses pass regularly!

If you just want to sit and do nothing but soak up the sun Little Reef has a lovely patio with an ambiance all it's own . The sunsets are very often spectacular and to sip a cool drink watching the boats go by is truly the most relaxing and stress free activity of them all.

We just want you to enjoy the experience!

Beach life at Liitle Reef!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday at Sally's homely apartment. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay and any queries were dealt with by Shirley, the housekeeper, immediately. We were welcomed by Grantley who lives next door and given all the information we needed about the 'working' of the apartment.

The parcel of food & drink essentials left for us in the fridge was very welcome after our delayed flight!

The position of Little Reef could not be bettered - just as nice as Sandy Lane but without the crowds. It was great to wake up and have breakfast on the terrace and go for a swim and maybe a bit of sunbathing without having to wait for anyone else to get up!!

We had a really outstanding meal at The Tides restaurant in Holetown - highly recommended for a special occasion.

The owner Sally was available by email before & during our holiday and responded promptly to all of our queries so that we were totally confident of our decision to stay at Little Reef. I understand that the apartment is undergoing some renovation work during September and we would love to visit again in the future to see how perfection has been improved!

Beautiful location on the beach....

  • 5 of 5

First - thank you Sally for opening your home to us. We enjoyed experiencing island life in this sleepy fishing village. You can't beat this location for steps away from the beautiful, sandy beach and tranquil water. Grantley (very sweet, nice guy) greeted us when we first arrived and showed us how to operate all the locks. He also came over to say goodbye when we left. At first, it's a bit daunting that every single door has a key lock to it, but after the second day, it became habit. Our week was July 15-22, it was hot!! But as long as the bedrooms were air conditioned (which they are), we were fine. One part that wasn't ideal (not Sally's fault) is the traffic right outside the house. I didn't realize it was a MAIN highway, the buses honked their horns continuously and cars with loud mufflers raced by often. I'm a light sleeper so I was up very early every morning. Determined to make the most of it, I would go out onto the deck and have my bowl of cereal and enjoy watching the boats, a few cruise ships and fisherman start their busy day - and to catch up on some much missed reading. My husband and teenage sons enjoyed snorkeling the reef. We brought snorkel gear and they went several times a day. They saw puffer fish, eels, all types of tropical fish. We also brought pool floats, my husband and I lounged and floated several times per day, the water temp was perfect. I highly recommend bringing inflatable pool floats. I also brought inflatable pool noodles, the boys used them for their "snorkel buoy" since the one that was suppose to be in the house wasn't there. Shirley wasn't sure what happened to it. We met Shirley and she called a few times to check up on us during the week. She's also very nice. If you are considering staying at Little Reef, and are looking for a snorkel/catamaran lunch excursion, I highly recommend Elegance Catamaran Cruises. http://www.elegancebarbados.com/catamarancruises/sailing-excursions/. Great crew, great food (the best all week!), great rum punch! They only take no more than 14 people, plus you get a great view of Little Reef house from the water since you go right past it to a snorkel destination! Win-Win! I also suggest St. Nicholas Abbey rum plantation, absolutely beautiful area, and great breezes! Their rum punch is to DIE for! No lie. Also, Cariba Restaurant (up the street, across from The Cliff restaurant). Beautiful atmosphere and sounds of tree frogs while you enjoy your meal.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review , we are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Little Reef and Barbados! Shirley , Grantley and I do our best to make it all a pleasant experience. Little Reef will be shut down in October for a major refit of doors and windows so the irritating lock system will be no more! The new doors and windows will minimise the noise you refer to but as with all the properties along that beautiful stretch of beach a certain amount of traffic noise is inevitable. The noise of the sea washing on to the shore usually obliterates the noise . We look forward to seeing you again at Little Reef.

A fantastic apartment in idyllic location

  • 5 of 5

My first trip to Barbados was 20 years ago. I have stayed in various locations, at Hotels, Apartments and Cottages. I never seemed to get both just right at the same time, until now.

For the past 7 days I have stayed at Little Reef. A fantastic apartment in the most idyllic location. It was my home for a week, and I loved every minute of it. Only wish I could have stayed longer.

The apartment had everything I needed, and more. Travelling alone, I could sit on the balcony in the evening, feeling extremely safe. Then I was able to move into a lovely cosy sitting room with comfy chairs, I often fell asleep in.

The view from the balcony. There are no words to do it justice. Absolutely brilliant and amazing.

Grantley and Shirley looked after me extremely well. As well as Sally, from the moment I booked the apartment. Everything in a personal manner, which I appreciated very much.

I very much hope, I can come back to Little Reef in the foreseeable future.

Brilliant beachfront location

Wonderful location with prime beach access. Property perfectly functional without being luxurious. Rather a lot of keys and padlocks!

Housekeeper very friendly and helpful.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Little Reef, we put a lot of effort into ensuring you are comfortable and can make the most of our unique position. As I explained to you when I contacted you to ensure you were comfortable and settled, we are have blocked September to do work which will lessen the number of keys and padlocks.. it takes time to find the correct solution as the most important stunning view should not be blocked. We now have the answer.

Breakfast by the beach every day!

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for an affordable, idyllic spot *right next to calm Caribbean waters*, this is the place for you. I've travelled to tropical locations around the world, and this villa is easily the best deal I've ever found. Located on the west coast of the island, which is BY FAR the best part of Barbados, Little Reef is only minutes from the nicest resort on the island, but costs less for a week than that resort costs for one night. And the beach is really just as good as that fancy resort's beach is.

We spent the days eating meals/reading on the porch by the beach, snorkeling, and taking long walks down the beach. We explored the island a few different times, but most days we found ourselves saying--we should have just stayed here...everything we need is right at Little Reef--swimming, comfortable chairs, reading, the island's best restaurants nearby, etc.

The property is well cared for and you will be looked after while you are there by the watchman/handyman, Grantley (who lives next door) and by Shirley the housekeeper (nearby, and a phone call away). Sally, the owner, is great and gets in touch via email once you reserve. These are all very trustworthy, kind folks. Book it now before someone else does.

Two more comments: First, this is a downstairs unit. There is a matching upstairs unit. It was occupied while we were there. Both sets of guests were lovely people. However, if they hadn't been, it could have put a damper on things, as you share the lower patio with the upstairs guests. That's one thing that you might not think about when you see the property on Homeaway. Again, this did not affect us at all, we actually enjoyed both families who stayed above us.

Next: general comments about Barbados... If you are looking for beautiful beaches and great restaurants, Barbados is a great choice. In other words, it's a perfect place to "chill out" if you just want a break. If you are looking to be adventurous and explore an island (hiking, kayaking, zip lining, etc) Barbados is not ideal, in my opinion. The interior of the island is a bit "blah." The beaches are right up there with the best I've seen, both on the rugged east coast (but you can't really swim on these) and calm west coast (narrow beaches, but very calm water), but the interior was not pretty, for the most part. If you just want a beautiful waterfront location where you can sit in the sun, relax, swim, and walk on the beach, you cannot beat Little Reef, for the price.

Charming place, great location!

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned from a 3 week stay at Little Reef. It is just as lovely as the photos show, and we very much enjoyed our visit. So much, in fact, that we've just booked again for 2018! Many thanks to Sally, as well as Grantley and Shirley for their kindness and attention during our holiday. Can't wait for next year!
