Sea Tang | Sleeps 5, Sea & Harbour Views, Central , Garage Parking for 2 cars!

Overview

Property

Updated: 03-Dec-2016
A delightful 3 bedroom cottage, with spectacular sea views.

Enjoy a seaside escape in Brixham at the elegant "Sea Tang"!

This spacious property boasts three bedrooms and is ideal accommodation for families or groups of up to five people. It also enjoys spectacular sea views over the South Devon coast, and combines modern touches with traditional features, including the stripped down wooden doors and beautiful structural details.

As you approach the property, guests will notice the terrace to the front, ideal for relaxing in the sun, or with a drink in the evenings as the sun sets over the Brixham coastline. There is also a double garage, which is a fantastic touch, as parking in Brixham can be hard to come by.

Once inside and through the corridors, complete with original wood paneling, guests will find the living and dining area, elegantly completed with comfortable sofas and an small armchair. A wide-screen HD Television, together with electric wood-burner effect heater, adds a homely touch to the room, and allows guests to relax in the surroundings of this delightful home.

The dining space, in a separate partition of the living room, allows seating for upto six, perfect for dining together in the evenings. Both rooms enjoy the brightness and fresh air let in by the window of the living room, which has views over Brixham itself towards the sea.

Upstairs, guests using the front-facing master bedroom will enjoy the comfortable king size bed, with wardrobe. An added bonus is that they will awake each morning to sea views over the Brixham harbourside and beyond.

The second room, a rear facing twin, also benefits from a wardrobe for the use of guests, whilst the third room, a further front facing sea view room, enjoys a single bed ideal for children, Grandam or Grandpa!

A large family bathroom means guests who stay here can relax in the evenings soaking in the bath tub, or taking a shower in the separate shower cubicle. There is also a toilet and sink in this room, with a convenient separate WC next door.

A rather special touch in this property is the loft snug, an ideal chill out for kids who are looking to escape from their parents for a while and relax!

Up steps to the rear of the property, guests will also enjoy a private lawned garden, ideal for guests looking to soak up the sun in the summer months, and perfect for undisturbed restful relaxation.

Brixham is a hilly fishing town and the old part where this property is situated, was built long before cars were around. We are therefore lucky to have a garage, but it is set at an angle to the road and is on a steep slope, so a little care is needed when parking.

Brixham:

Brixham ~ Famous for its Napoleonic connections:

Brixham is primarily a fishing port within Torbay and has a long and rich history. In the lee of Berry Head, famous for its Napoleonic connections, its lighthouse and magnificent limestone cliffs, Brixham remains a popular resort with a rich maritime history and plenty of activities for the young and old alike.

A Royal Estate:

Berry Head was a promontory fortress and hospital constructed in the Napoleonic period, but situated on much earlier settlers remains. These earthworks were probably of from the Early Iron Age. The Berry Head earthworks, pottery, and coins suggest a late Celtic trading settlement, persisting into Roman times.

Palaeolithic man, may also have resided in Brixham, with evidence of occupation in the "Windmill Cave". Brixham was originally a royal estate in Saxon times, pre-conquest (1066) and stretched as far as Kingswear and Galmpton. (It is thought that the name "Brixham" probably came from Brioc's village . Brioc was an old English personal name and ham is an ancient term for village.

Brixham Harbour a famous fishing port:

Brixham is more famous as a fishing port, still active and producing a good catches daily. Originally competing with Torquay and Paignton, it eventually dominated and remained the only active port. In the 1800's as many as 250 vessels fished out of Brixham, from large trawlers to inshore boats, employing over 1,500 people.

The fishing industry all but collapsed at the end of the second world war. The old harbour originally nestled in central lower part of the town, with natural protection, has been replaced and protected by the new harbour and eventual breakwater.

Sir Francis Drake & the Golden Hind:

Stroll in the opposite direction and you will see a replica of Drake's famous Golden Hind and farther around will be the Marina, leading onto Breakwater beach and the Breakwater itself. On a warm day, watch the seagulls glide up the breakwater on thermals enjoying themselves, or the fishermen lined up to catch a sea monster of their own.

Wonderful place to be!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, tastefully decorated house, one of the nicest places we´ve ever been! Perfect for a family holiday, there is everything you need, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, ironing board/iron, a "rainy day cupboard" with games. We loved the little bench in the "garden" and the stunning view. Thank you Sharon and family for a warm welcome and a wonderful holiday!

Guests staying in this delightful holiday cottage are within walking distance of the harbour front and all the many local amenities on offer in Brixham.

The quaint harbour offers a fascinating seaside stroll; being home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the country, with over 100 bobbing fishing boats to admire! The harbour town’s fish auction ensures guests have plenty of home-cooking opportunities to enjoy a ‘catch of the day’ as well as for sampling the freshly caught seafood in one of the town’s many excellent restaurants.

Brixham Harbour Gardens are lovely to relax in and the unspoilt harbour side idyll in which guests can enjoy a relaxed Mid or North Devon excursion is within easy reach by car or bus from the delights of Paignton and the attractions and vibrant seaside activities of Torquay.
