Really beautiful place...quiet...relaxing...clean...

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that this was a fabulous place. MIke and Julia were quite welcoming and we loved their dog Coco, who also played with my chocolat lab, but the place was really clean, comfortable, spacious...and the pool was amazing. Loved the local sites.../everything is very close. No need to take long drives to have a great variety of activities. Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return. For those planning to do remote work, this is the only issue. Internet service was not too (not owners fault) and no cell service at all. Again, the area was limited. It makes it that much easier to enjoy a holiday break. Highly recommend...especially for large or two families.

Amazing gite in a fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

The gite itself is modern and very spacious. There is plenty of land for games and exploring. The pool is amazing; big enough for everyone to get in, and around the pool there are plenty of sun loungers and tables/chairs. There is a barbecue next to the pool as well which means whoever is cooking can still be around everyone. Mike and Julie are brilliant; they will inform you of all of the markets nearby and any other activities you are interested in. Coco their dog is adorable and our stay wouldn't have been the same without her! There is a small shop, supermarket and bakery nearby which sell everything you need. We had the privilege of being invited to the village meal on our first night; this was by far the best night! We were treated to local wines and wild boar, live music and an amazing atmosphere!

There is a horse riding ranch opposite the gite, it is definitely worth a visit! They take you through the vineyards around the area and you don't have to be a confident horse rider, the horses are extremely well trained and will just follow each other. If your horse falls behind (ours did!) the man will talk to the horse and it will trot back into line.

Bergerac is the closest large town/city. It has a large river running through it which holds request boat rides, the men on the boat speak many languages so you won't miss out! There is a large market here too and many restaurants. Not far from Bergerac there are activities such as go karting, caving, quad biking, canoeing, wine tasting. The canoe trip was amazing; you are dropped off down the river and you make your own way back to the canoe place. You have to get out of the canoes twice on the way so you avoid the locks but this makes it ever more fun.

I highly recommend this gite; everything was fantastic!

Lovely property, excellent facilities.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Bonnefin gite. The accommodation is very well appointed. There is a comfortable, large, open plan sitting room and kitchen. The appliances include cooker, washing machine, dishwasher and television. The furniture is very smart and comfortable. Several bedrooms are en-suite with everything very clean and modern. Being converted from farm buildings, rooms are large with interesting features having original beams etc. Outside the gite, the buildings are picturesquely set in open farming countryside. The property itself is surrounded by several hectares of its own land. The swimming pool is a highlight of the property. It is a good size and exceptionally clear and well cared for. There is a barbeque for the use of guests. Ideal for people of all ages being situated within a few kilometres of several well-preserved medieval villages and towns as well as the Dordogne river itself. An excellent place to soak up the atmosphere of rural France. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about the area and very helpful as well as being dog-friendly. Anyone interested in wild-life will have a great time investigating the flora and fauna of the environs.

Very spacious, bright, clean, well equipped home from home. Owners very helpful and friendly.

  • 4 of 5

The house had everything needed for a comfortable stay. We loved being away from it all and relaxing in the countryside. Mike and Julia were very helpful and patient with our energetic young children around for the week. There was plenty of room for our group of ten with two living areas and a large well equipped kitchen. It was lovely to be able to wash clothes and have all the facilities we have at home. The children loved visiting the horses and hens, exploring the large garden and of course splashing about in the pool. Bergerac is only a short drive away with a lovely beach lake located outside the town.

Un havre de tranquillité, de confort, de plaisir des yeux.

  • 5 of 5

lovely quiet retreat, great hosts, fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from 11 nights at Bonnefin, 5 adults ranging from 53 to 88 years old, plus one dog, the hosts Mike and Julia were really great we arrived after a long drive and didn't realise that the shops were all closed as it was a Bank Holiday but Julia raided her own cupboards and gave us plenty of food for a meal and breakfast plus wine, they were on hand for anything we needed and happy to give us advice and help.

The house was really nice and as described, huge airy clean rooms great kitchen and everything we needed, there was also a washing machine iron and ironing board, hairdryer etc, the grounds were huge and the pool area great, albeit the pool was freezing at this time of year, the bedrooms were furnished really well with lovely bedding and towels and all bathrooms modern and spacious, the downstairs twin bedroom had an ensuite and was suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties, the 2 lounges were huge with flat screen t.v's DVD players and British channels, the Wifi was a bit hit and miss but when it was on it worked really well, but would then suddenly go off for a few hours,, If you are into Horses theres an Equestrian Centre right next door, Singleyrac is just a short walk away but there isn't really anything there at all, there is one small shop but it is closed awaiting new owners, the nearest restaurant / Bar which is about an 8 - 10 minute drive away, Bergerac is about 15 - 20 minute drive and is absolutely beautiful with river cruises running 4 or 5 times a day, the nearest supermarket and shopping centre is just outside Bergerac, There are plenty of Wine Tasting Places within a short drive.

all in all we would recommend, Bonnefin if you want a a relaxing quite break,
