This lovely Vintage House is managed by Elizabeth Lytton - The Hotel Alternative. We invite you to stay at this pretty home near Notting Hill and only 20 minutes by train to Piccadilly Circus; London's central point.

Ideal for friends, a family or corporate lets.

Stepping inside this attractive home, you are suddenly brought into an open plan space, full of colour. The house has an amazing collection of vintage pieces and paintings. It’s a very peaceful home, and is ideal for families with young children. The sitting room seats 7 comfortably, leading onto the large kitchen/dining room and patio garden.

The sitting room has lots of books, a desk, WIFI and satellite TV. The kitchen has everything from blender, scales, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and clothes dryer. There is also a high chair for young children.

There is a downstairs guest cloakroom (toilet) on the first floor landing, and upstairs there is a bathroom with bath and seperate shower enclosure, and washing machine. On the first floor there are two bright and spacious bedrooms, both with twin beds. All luxury linen and towels are provided.

On the second floor there is an ensuite shower room, and king size double bed with great views across the gardens and leafy neighbourhood.

About Ginette Lytton

Elizabeth Lytton has been managing short term rentals of our own properties in the UK and Spain for over 14 years. Two years ago we established Elizabeth Lytton – The Hotel Alternative to manage short term rentals for other Homeowners' properties in a few, select areas of West and Central London.

We have chosen beautiful homes only in village-like, residential and family oriented neighbourhoods. With excellent transport links to all over London. And located only 20 minutes from Piccadilly Circus; London’s central point.

These areas are near where we live and we know very well, which allows us to provide Homeowners and Guests a personal and local service.

Having managed our own homes for so long, we understand your expectations and how to prepare the homes to meet your requirements. We also have an extensive network of skilled professionals who we know can assure you receive a hotel-quality service during your stay.

I am married with two children. We used to live in our Barcelona villa, which we now rent for holiday lets to groups of families and friends, or for corporate team building, weddings and events.

We are now living back in Brackenbury Village, Hammersmith, and loving the London dynamism and diversity – there is so much to get involved in and do here!

Why Ginette Lytton chose London

I was born in this area of London. There are great schools around here, and all the amenities you need for a great family life. There is a wonderful sense of community here and many of us have been living around here for many many years. I bought my house round the corner from this Victorian cottage in 1993. The good thing about this area is that because the BBC is nearby, Disney and Coca Cola for example have their headquarters here, there are many interesting and creative people in this neighbourhood with all the theatres, pubs, comedy and music venues to keep you entertained. Also a diverse range of restaurants. Shepherds Bush food market, and Westfield shopping centre - said to be the largest in Europe - is just 10 minutes walk away. Most importantly the transport links into the centre of town and out of town are amazing - you can be at the Houses of Parliament in 20 minutes.

Perfect rental - loved this place!

This apartment/townhouse was the perfect space for our family vacation in London. The location worked well for all of our excursions, with two Underground stations within easy walking distance. The house had everything we needed. The beds were extremely comfortable. Ginette was wonderful and shared all kinds of tips with us for visiting the area. The neighborhood was quiet and extremely safe. We can't wait to return here when we visit London again.

Wonderful rental property for family or group

The Lytton agency was great to work with: they gave us plenty of notice when we needed to do something, and Paul met us at the house without any problem and explained everything.

The house itself was wonderful. It was very clean, well-equipped (especially the kitchen which is rare in vacation rentals), and quiet. It has a very nice backyard space with flowers and greenery.

I was initially concerned about the walk to the tube based on Google maps, but once we got there, it was only a few minutes walk and no problem. It does take a bit of time to get into central London, but the tube is easy to use, and it was not an inconvenience. There are also several museums close by so there is much to see and do near the house. The Thames is also an easy walk from the house. There is also bus service very close which goes to Hammersmith Station and an easy transfer to go to downtown.

There are several good places to eat within an easy walk (for breakfast, the St. Anne french bakery on King St. was phenomenal). The owners have a book there with several recommendations, and the ones we tried were very good.

Overall, we were extremely pleased with the property and the management service and would rent from them again.

Roomy house with perfect location

This was a terrific house for 4 adult cousins searching their British roots! The main floor is roomy and comfortable...plenty of living room seating and a fully appointed kitchen with a spacious eating table. The enclosed patio was perfect for morning coffee and afternoon cocktails! The bedrooms are well furnished and a good size, especially the third floor master. Bathrooms on each floor are up to date and the linens soft and plentiful. Though it was very hot during our visit, we were provided with plenty of fans to make for comfortable sleeping. The location worked very well...a 10 minute walk to the tube station or the bustling shops and restaurants. Plenty of onstreet parking as well in this quiet, lovely neighborhood. The communication with the management company was timely and extremely helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better home in London!

Charming stay

We LOVED this cute house. The location was amazing - a short walk to the tube, to a lovely park, to pubs and grocery stores. The house was great and gave our family of 7 some space. The rental agency people we really great- greeting us the day we arrived and answering all of our questions. Would definitely recommend this location and would stay here again in an instant!

Perfect family house

The house was completely equipped in the kitchen, including condiments and all beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were spotless and lots of fluffy towels for everyone. The living room had plenty of comfy chairs for us to gather and discuss our day, sight seeing in London.

A lovely vacation

We had a really nice vacation staying at this home. It's a charming place, plus will get your stairs workout done with bedrooms on second and third floors. The neighborhood is close to a culturally diverse area with a small market (great produce, fish, meat, and falafel shacks) and fantastic Somali food in one direction (order the date cake with custard), several charming pubs with amazing upscale food (order everything) five minutes' walk away, several underground stations within 10 minutes. Furnished comfortably, with a casual collection of mixed furniture downstairs, and bedrooms and upstairs baths are lovely and so airy and bright. Kitchen is large and open; the house had everything we needed for cooking, and plenty of paper goods. Linens were immaculate and smelled nice when you tucked everyone in at night. :-) Manager was very available and helpful.

PRETTY RESIDENTIAL AREA MINUTES

FROM CENTRAL LONDON AND RIVER THAMES

Brackenbury village is a quiet residential area with a good community feel, yet carefully selected for its fantastic transport links, beautiful homes and gardens, and for the wide range of quality amenities nearby.

Only 18 minutes by double decker bus to Kensington. The area has attracted Disney and Coca Cola to set up their headquarters here.

A neighbourhood full of pretty Victorian architecture and gardens with some of the best schools in London, you can enjoy a quiet and family oriented atmosphere.

The area is bordered by food markets, great shopping, two fringe theatres – the Lyric and the Bush, as well as music and comedy venues – the Hammersmith Apollo and O2 Shepherd’s Bush.

If you want some peace amid the buzz of London or a place for the children to let off steam take a walk to Ravenscourt Park, or take a Boris bike ride to the river Thames just 10 minutes away where you can enjoy a friendly drink in one of the many traditional English pubs overlooking the pretty views of the river.

Transport Links

There is a direct link from Heathrow Airport on the tube, and 5 different tube lines within 5-10 minutes walk of the house that will take you all over London. Tube stations: Ravenscourt Park (around 5 minutes walk) is on the District line, Hammersmith (around 10 minutes walk) is on the District, Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City. Shepherds Bush (around 15 minutes walk) on the central line. It's only 25 minutes door to door to Piccadilly Circus.

Airport Transfers

Before arrival, Elizabeth Lytton will send you the website link of a local taxi company, for you to book your airport pickup. They will send a driver to meet you at the Arrivals gate and bring you to your destination, where you will personally met on arrival.

Local Shopping

There are many grocery shops within 5 minutes walk of the area. There is a 7/11 store open until late on Dalling road. The nearest supermarkets are Marks and Spencer and Sainsburys on King Street about 10 minutes walk away. The Patisserie Sainte Anne on King Street provides a wonderful haven for home cooked treats and delicious coffee. Shepherd’s Bush fruit and vegetable market is 10 minutes walk. A further 5 minutes walk you’ll reach Westfield, one of the largest shopping malls in Europe, with every shop from Prada and Louis Vuitton to Kath Kidson and Desigual, as well as a cinema, restaurants and coffee bars with tastes from all parts of the globe. A very useful place to have on your doorstep.

Places to visit nearby

Apart from all the usual central London places to go you’ll find in your guidebook, there are many beautiful places to visit nearby. Kew Gardens are stunning botanical gardens set in beautiful parkland. Chiswick House a Palladium style home and pretty grounds can be arrived at by bicycle in only 20 minutes or so.

By the River Thames

Take a walk or bicycle ride down to the River Thames just 10 minutes away. Enjoy the Victorian, Regency and Georgian architecture and the wonderful traditional English pubs where you can taste a huge range of English beers.

The Dove – Overlooking the Thames with a rich history and charming interior which houses the smallest bar room in Britain. Former customers include everyone from King Charles II to Ernest Hemingway.

The Old Ship – Just a bit further up the Thames is a fantastic spot for award winning al fresco dining. You can enjoy a traditional Sunday roast lunch or a delicious ale battered fresh haddock overlooking the river.

Local Eating-out

The Andover Arms is one of the area’s hidden gems, this delightful traditional pub is a great find. Tucked away in Brackenbury Village, the pub fosters a wonderfully relaxing and family friendly atmosphere – with fine ale and home-cooked food served by friendly staff every day.

The Anglesea, The Butcher’s Hook and the The Dartmouth Castle pubs also in Brackenbury Village are great watering holes with pretty outdoor terraces. All within short walks of eachother.

The Brackenbury restaurant and Indian Zing also serve delicious meals. And for a breakfast or tea try the Parisian bakery and café, Patisserie Sainte Anne, for a couture collection of beautifully presented patisserie and breads made on site.
