Comfortable gite in quiet rural location close to historic Bastides and chateaux

Updated: 24-Jul-2016
A one bedroom gite with pool and private terrace

Surrounded by sunflower fields, plum orchards and vineyards, guests can enjoy the peace and tranquility of a small hamlet close to amenities including supermarkets, restaurants and lively outdoor markets.

It is an ideal place for writers, painters or just to relax in the cottage garden. We hope you will feel refreshed at the end of your stay.

The gite has its own private terrace overlooking the pool. There is a gas BBQ and the herb garden is adjacent to the terrace.

As well as a dining /kitchen area, there is a comfortable lounge with English TV, a library and a DVD collection,a folder of places to visit etc

This is an area steeped in history and ideally situated for walking, horse riding, canoeing, golf, wine tasting and great food - a speciality of the area is duck and foie gras.

Sample fine local inexpensive dishes in nearby Bar/restaurant or in the surrounding area including an affordable meal for that special occasion at the Michelin Star restaurant just (just 25 minutes drive.)

I found Maureen's garden ideal for relaxing in various secluded places.

The pool was heaven as the weather was so hot and after a cooling swim, lying out under the shady pergola was just what we needed.

The gite was perfect - appreciated little touches like the flowers and the yummy home made biscuits - thank you Norman and Maureen - see you again

Just Perfect

Slightly difficult to find but once there - perfection. Norman & Maureen greeted us and had put milk, coffee, tea, ham, eggs, cheese, bread, juice & wine already in the gite. The pool was magnificent, perfectly clean and it was by far the best restful holiday we have ever had in 10 years of staying in gites in France.

Unfortunately it seems that they have sold the property and will be moving quite soon. I hope the new owners are equally as good and we will definitely consider visiting again. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

It seems a shame more folks don't take the time to write a short review. This cottage is absolutely lovely! We spent our anniversary here and had a delightful stay. It is located in a rural area with easy access to shopping. Norman and Maureen are gracious hosts and I encourage you to spend a holiday at their peaceful home away from home.

Quiet, relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed several times in this gite and always enjoyed the quiet location, the excellent facilities and the pool. It is ideal for 2 people with sitting out areas that are sheltered and can be in full sun or shade as one wishes. The local village restaurant is well worth a visit and there are plenty of other places nearby for sightseeing as well as shops and meals.

I want to go back now!

I travelled far to rest and relax in this Gite. I considered it beautiful beyond belief to wake up and walk out the door to the pool with the French blue sky overhead and that silky air caressing my skin. The kitchen was wonderful and fully equipped. The entire Gite was spotless clean. I liked to eat outside on the patio and gaze at the countryside and take walks on the paths and enjoy the extensive flower gardens.

Tranquil and well located

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Espere in July 2012 for about 4 weeks whilst we were finalising our own local house purchase. The gite is very comfortable with all the amenities you need. The swimming pool was very welcoming as was the shaded pergola. We used the BBQ every night and sat out on the terrace to watch the sun go down with the most amazing sunsets.

We visited many of the local bastide towns but certainly enjoyed coming to the peace and quiet of the gite.

Maureen & Norman were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome and we would certainly recommend Espere to our friends and family. Thank you!
