About the property

2 bedroom cottage in a beautiful rural setting overlooking the Mawddach Estuary

Peacefully set in the village of Arthog at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park, at the foot of the Cader Idris, Arthog Hall Barns have stunning views of the Rhinog Mountains and are ideally positioned opposite the Mawddach Trail, giving access by foot, or bicycle to the famous Abermaw Bridge, Fairbourne Beach, Penmaenpool with its waterside pub and beyond to the market town of Dolgellau, from where the more ambitious can take advantage of the Coed y Brenin mountain biking trail.

The wider area can be explored via the Cambrian coastal railway from nearby Morfa Mawddach Station linking to the national rail network at Machynlleth.

The area has a wealth of bird watching, including the RSPB site at Penmaenpool, fishing and mountain walking, as well as close access to a number of beautiful beaches, the nearest being the unspoilt Fairbourne Beach (Blue-Flag) two miles away.

The Aberdovey and Royal St. Davids links golf courses are a twenty-minute drive away.

We also have another house in the next courtyard which can sleep up to 10 people - Tan Y Coed - property listing number - 1576350

the properties can be rented together for large groups/families to sleep a total of 14-15

Title should read perfect snug in Snowdonia

  • 5 of 5

We have recently returned from a perfect week in this lovely cottage. This place really has everything that you could possibly need. The cottage is situated facing the estuary with lovely walks right on your doorstep. On our arrival Victoria & Fintan welcomed us. As we were unpacking Victoria came across with a still warm freshly baked loaf of bread, inside there was some locally made cheese & pickle so we swiftly opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed it sat on the patio looking out at the gorgeous view!! Also provided in the welcome pack bacon, eggs, milk tea & coffee.. the list goes on. We celebrated our anniversary during the week and had some lovely surprises from Victoria & our family.

Victoria & Sean have thought of every single detail you will not stay at this cottage and think of anything that they have not already thought of. The bed is so comfortable and the most luxurious sheets & duvet !! Not forgetting the fluffy towels.. There are loads of maps, things to do, places to visit & guide book information all available at the cottage.

We cannot recommend this cottage enough and we most certainly will be returning x

Perfect little getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away at Y Bwthyn Bach. The location is brilliant, scenery stunning and the property is perfect. The quality of the property was five star, very comfortable and every detail had been thought about. There were lots of extra touches which went over and above what you would find in most other places. Fresh bread, eggs, butter, bacon and honey were also provided which made breakfasts all the better.

Victoria was incredibly welcoming and not only made sure we had everything we needed during our stay but was also in touch before hand with helpful information about the area which meant planning our weekend away in advance was so much easier.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Y Bwthyn Bach to anyone looking for a getaway in that part of Wales and we all look forward to coming to stay again sometime in the future. The only disappointment is that going back to work meant we couldn't stay for longer.

Amazing house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and has so many little touches that really provide the house with personality. We loved the provision of dog towels. The area itself is amazing with so much to do and excellent food and drink on offer. If you like the outdoors this is the place to visit with mountains, beaches, rivers and forests all here and so accessible.

A cosy, comfortable, relaxing few days away with a lovely owner in beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a lovely couple of days away staying at this gorgeous cottage. It is warm, cosy, comfortable and decorated/furnished to a high standard. The cottage is well equipped and the Owners have thought of everything that you would need to make your stay pleasurable. Victoria is very welcoming and informative, with some lovely added touches upon arrival and the surrounding area is stunning with some great walks from your front door. Some much needed quality time spent away with our 2 teenagers and 2 dogs! Highly recommended.

Very cosy cottage in a great location - wish we'd stayed longer!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely few days in this very cosy cottage. The attention to detail was great from the time of booking until the time we left. We had every thing we needed, from the comprehensive guide to the cottage and area, to the lovely food pack. Everything was clean and comfortable and a real home from home. We only stayed a few nights but will be back as there was so much more to explore! Highly recommended.

We need to move....

  • 5 of 5

We took our dog here for New Year and wow, what a place. We had the convenience of having an Asda delivery put away, wine chilled, a guest hamper of delicious local produce, Prosecco and freshly baked vegetarian and meat hot sausage rolls on arrival courtesy of Victoria (You really cannot beat a Delia recipe:-))

From there, chill was the word! We took our dog to a local beach 2 miles away which was stunning and she ran until she dropped. We stopped off at a local store for last minute things and the customer service was impeccable.

Enjoyed a NYE meal in the cottage and actually saw New Year in for the first time in a few years! Maybe the many naps I had during the day.

All in all, we went out in our lounge pants on New Years day and walked our dog to a beautiful estuary just across the road. It was so good that we are now planning to retire before we retire to this part of Wales.

Hosts were amazing, great to see on the few occasions we did and we were really sad to leave so Thank you both.
