200 year old fisherman's cottage with stunning sea views in New Quay Wales

Overview

Property

Updated: 07-Dec-2016
Family friendly 3 bedroom cottage with rear deck overlooking the sea

Recently and beautifully renovated 3 bedroom cottage with 2 bathrooms, large living room, kitchen diner, both with woodburners, and secure wi fi, in New Quay, Cardigan Bay, with a blue flag beach and resident pod of Bottlenose Dolphins.

To the rear of the cottage is a decked terrace with views over the sea and coastline, perfect for dolphin spotting whilst enjoying a well earned sundowner after an exhilarating day on one of New Quay's three beaches, or messing about on the water, sailing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing or taking one of the many dolphin watching or fishing boat trips all available in New Quay and a short walk from the cottage.

Alternatively put your feet up after walking one of the many coastal paths very close to the cottage, which form part of the Ceredigion Coastal path, walking guides and OS maps are available in the cottage.

Relax in the large comfortable living room with ample seating for six,a 40 inch TV with Freeview, DVD player, radio CD player, Iphone dock and woodburner.

The kitchen diner is very well equipped with double electric oven, halogen hob, fridge, microwave, slow cooker, dishwasher, woodburner and seating for six people.

However there are numerous eating establishments in New Quay ranging from Restaurants, Pubs, Cafes, Take Aways and of course Fish and Chip shops so that you can enjoy your fish and chips on the quay or the beach.

All the local eateries pride themselves on sourcing local produce, where possible, and the fish on your plate may well have been landed that day by some of the local fishermen who sell their catch on the quayside.

Alternatively take a picnic, we have a picnic hamper and picnic rug at the cottage.

Why not enjoy alfresco meals at home on the rear deck area with a large barbeque.

There is a separate utility room next to the kitchen, with a washing machine, drying facilities, including a tumble dryer, and fridge freezer.

Next to the utility room is a downstairs shower room perfect for washing off the sand after a day on the beach.

Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, which has a tv,dvd and games console with a number of games to keep the little ones entertained. Also available at the cottage is a high chair and travel cot.

The rear double bedroom has wonderful sea views and is next to the family bathroom which has a bath with hand held shower and a separate shower cubicle.

The cottage is heated by a wood pellet biomass central heating system, during the colder months, when the central heating is required, it is necessary to fill the boiler with pellets daily, requiring lifting, usually three, 10 kg bags up to the boiler.

The system is very easy to use and is very environmentally friendly, if you have any concerns about the heating system please do not hesitate to contact me.

Although there is no parking at the cottage within 100 metres is a pay and display car park with a weekly multi use tariff of £21.00.

For larger parties Garthowen can be booked with Clydfan Property 6732266, 3 doors away at a 10% discount of the overall cost.

I would recommend this cottage to all. Wonderful views, great outdoor space, plenty of internal space. Everything that one could possibly want in terms of kitchen equipment is provided, the decor is eye-catching and the furniture and beds are extremely comfortable. Location was perfect.

5 Star Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Excellent accommodation. Every conceivable gadget and utensil was available and the cottage was spotlessly clean and very homely. There was ample seating indoor and out. The best feature was the outstanding decking area with unrestricted views of the bay and Harbour. We would definitely recommend Garthowen to anyone.

Magic!

  • 5 of 5

You only have to skim the rest of the reviews to see what a delight this house is. Our stay was very short but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so much so that we hope to come back with the rest of the family in the future. The attention to detail on decor and the spectacular views from the terrace make this such a fantastic home. The cottage is well equipped, very clean and welcoming. The owner seems very warm and friendly. Excellent communication with our booking. Thank you very much for such a lovely weekend.

Beautifully presented cottage, well located and with some stunning decking with good sea views.

  • 4 of 5

This property suited us very well. There is a lovely big lounge (great for a toddler!) and two bathrooms/shower rooms (though one of the showers was not working very well). The kitchen and dining arrangements are fine, and there is a useful utility room, well equipped. The whole place is very well decorated and furnished on a seaside theme. There is a fantastic area of decking with a great big table, lighting, BBQ etc with wonderful sea views. We saw jumping dolphins and a red kite drifting by. There are a number of steps to get down to the decking. You are also quite aware of the neighbours' decking although they are exceptionally friendly. As for the bedrooms, one is great with good sea views; the other two are fine but do suffer a little bit from traffic noise. Also, there are double yellow lines outside, though it is possible to stop to unload etc. Parking is either in a pay and display (£21 for the week), or we usually managed to find free on-street parking withing easy distance. The cottage is well located for the beach and town.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

6 of us just returned from a lovely weekend in this cottage! The photos do not do it justice! The décor was top quality very cosy and every equipment you would possibly need - you couldn't wish for any more. The patio area was absolutely fantastic - nobody can control the weather so although it was cold we couldn't resist sitting out there it must be absolutely stunning when the weathers hot - we intend to return again and hope for warmer weather! 5- 10 minutes walk and you had plenty of choice of restaurants and pubs and the beach including dolphins!

We will definitely tell family and friends about this little gem.
