About david

myself and my wife are based in Essex, and we found this villa which we fully refurbished, the villa is in an affluent area with private security,it has a large private pool, this area is an oasis along this part of the coast, next to the beach and a ten minute walk to the cabo roig strip, home to many bars and restaurants, there are also some local bars and restaurants nearer if you fancy a short walk along the beach to the marina.

This area has something for everyone, whether it is lively, golf, beach, shopping or just spending long nights on the balcony with a bottle of wine

david purchased this villa in 2002

Why david chose Alicante Province and Costa Blanca

Location,Location,Location. Quality,Quality,Quality.

What makes this villa unique

Just a lovely area, our front hedges have bougainvillea which we love. Also love the walk along the beach and around the marina, taking in the views.

Property was excellent. Location was great, just 2 minute walk to a lovely sandy beach.

  • 5 of 5

We were a family of 16 which included 2 children and a 7 month old baby and not forgetting our pet dog Hector. We had such fun at this property and around the large swimming pool. Plenty of seating areas for everyone and sun beds. Kitchen well equipped with everything you would need. One thing that would have been helpful would have been a clothesline/airer. (Not a complaint but just a suggestion). Richard who met us and showed us around the property was very helpful. Thanks to David the owner for letting us stay at his property. Would recommend to anyone.

Great Villa in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

The villa was spacious with lots of different areas for people to be able to go and relax and more than big enough for the 13 of us with a lovely pool and plenty of loungers.

The area is brilliant you have the beach at the end of the road, with some restaurants and beach bars within 5-10 mins walk. Then Cabo Raig is a 15 min either up a steep hill or the coastal path and it is a busy area with alot more restaurants, bars and shops. Perfect for everyone.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely gorgeous villa , we stayed here as a family of 16 age range 7 to 65 . This villa is massive and has everything you need down to towels for pool to trolleys you can take to the supermarket . Everything is so close , supermarket just up hill which is massive and is really good value(bottle of gin or vodka €4) wine at €2.75 😍? .The beach is literally on the doorstep with a lovely bar /restaurant . Lovely walk along the beach on a bridge walkway takes you to lovely restaurants and bars. Richard who met us at the villa is great I rang him to tell him we had arrived at 10pm and when we arrived we had water butter bread and even a few beers !! Also while we were there the electric went off , I text him and the response was instant 😊? . Fantastic pool which is slot bigger than I expected with sun all day , lovely outdoor seating area . We all had a Fantastic time and didn't want to come home .Thankyou

Very Good but not brilliant

  • 4 of 5

Lets get things straight from the start - this is an unbiased and honest review of the villa and amenities and no we are not looking for a refund.

We stayed as a group of 14 (2 x 70's, 5 x 40/50s and 7 x 20's)

For me It's a solid 3.5 - 4 probably a bit generous. But there is no facility to give half marks.

Pro's

The pool is a fantastic size for the amount of people staying.

The location of the pool - it gets the sun all day.

There are also areas around the pool that get shade in the late afternoon if you need it.

A large Barbeque area - although we had to use some of the chairs from the dining room for the 14 in our party.

Good sized rooms

Great TV

Freeview with all the English channels from back home - just for the hour you need out of the sun and a DVD player to entertain the kids.

Location very close to a great beach and beach bar.

Richard and Steph were great

Con's

Lack of air conditioning (yes it is advertised - but I hardly class fans as air conditioning, considering our fan was dirty and full of dust). After WE cleaned it, we received a little bit more benefit. Unfortunately, it didn't condition the air very much as the bedroom was like a sauna everytime we came to bed, and as such didn't get very much sleep during the holiday.

The cleaning fee(250euro's) - my wife's side of the family are as passionate about cleaning as you will come across and they weren't happy. Cobwebs, crushed biscuits in one room and the dirty fan I mentioned earlier. We didn't see the value in the cleaning fee(I suspect it is more of a management fee than just purely a cleaning fee). Especially as the state that we left it - it only needed the beds making up and floors mopping.

No change of towels or bedding were made available, we didn't fancy having to wash whilst we were away.

Final Con the area outside the kitchen, the ceiling is very low. I lost count the amount of times I smacked my head coming out of the toilet in this area(I'm 6'3"). Also whilst navigating the steps from the barbeque area you have to duck to get under the ceiling - be careful, I slipped and ended up on my backside and it hurt.

When I write a review I like to be positive and as such I would concur with the previous reviewers experiences. We had a great time.

Finally one suggestion

A welcome pack of the essentials water, milk, coffee tea and bread would have been a nice touch, especially as when you arrive you are generally still finding your bearings and their isn't a corner shop nearby.

Owner's Response: Hi Simon I am not sure which party you were with as you did not state this and I have no booking in your name, also I am quite sure you are not looking for a refund?. Your review was quite lengthy so perhaps I will reply as you mentioned your points. Firstly thank you for your pro points. Your first con point was about the air conditioning is does state that there are fans in every room ,there are however additional fans as back ups and for 2018 there will be portable air conditioning units in every room ,it was in fact the hottest July on record in Spain and perhaps this added to your discomfort,I wonder, did you mention the fan to Richard who would have rectified the situation in a flash, this also applies to the cobweb as Richard and Stephanie also do the cleaning,I have always found their work impeccable and they also gave the villa a spring clean in April, lastly there is extra bedding if needed but why would you change sheets, you were only there for a week and I am sure you only change your sheets weekly at home and not daily? after all it is self catering you are not renting a hotel room..The cleaning fee includes the cost of having your dirty sheets and towels laundered as well as cleaning the villa so I feel the fee is very reasonable. We did supply a welcoming pack for years but found guests were stopping off and shopping before arriving in one of the two local supermarkets (Dia and Consum) both only 800 mts from the villa. Your last point about the low ceiling in the downstairs terrace,I am 6ft and can stand upright, you do have to slightly duck to get out to the BBQ area but wouldn't you have to do this quite often at 6ft 3"? I also fell off my ladder last week and that hurt too, perhaps your feet were wet from the pool? In summary we take all points raised very seriously and always rectify problems once raised, but I feel if you had pointed out a dirty fan or cobweb to Richard he would have acted on this immediately,If they know nothing of the problem it is difficult for them, finally on your day of departure Richard asked your party if you had a good time to which you replied we had a great time.again they walk away feeling as if they have done a good job. Again, I thank you for the review and wish you well for the future. Regards David PS,To clarify, Guests who have booked for the 2017 season the air conditioning box would not have been ticked,it is ticked now for guests booking for 2018 season, there has been some confusion about this.
