Villa Cerro da Velha is private and secluded. This spacious villa is fitted out and furnished to a very high standard. It has 4 generous bedrooms, all with en-suite bath or shower rooms and built in wardrobes and a 5th children's bedroom. There is a separate cloakroom off the entrance hall. Bedroom 1, which has a super king size double bed, links through to a good sized bedroom 5, with bunk beds suitable for 2 children. There is shared access to the master bathroom via a dressing area with extensive built-in wardrobes, so the bedroom 1 and bedroom 5 function together as a family suite. Cots (there are 2 available but more could be sourced if needed) can be provided for babies and toddlers on request and can be placed in any of the bedrooms (they are large enough to accept cots), or in bedroom 5 instead of the bunk beds. There are a further three twin bedrooms with good quality, comfortable beds. All 5 bedrooms have direct access to external paved areas via sliding glass terrace doors, fitted with electrically operated shutters. One of the bedrooms has step-free access which makes it suitable for occupancy by guests with restricted mobility, who are not readily able to use stairs. There is a safe for your use in the master bedroom dressing area.

The 12m pool is on the south side of the villa, so is sheltered from the prevailing wind and is completely private. It gets the sun all day, as does the outdoor eating area which is also sheltered from the sea breezes. The pool is fenced with gated access. Pool heating is available for a modest additional cost. In the garden area there is a lawn that is great for children to run about and play on. There is direct access from the pool and garden to 4 of the 5 bedrooms (including the children's room), which makes changing and showering after a swim very straightforward.

There is a large hall leading to the generous open plan living space with separate sitting and dining areas. The dining area opens onto the outdoor eating and bar-b-que terrace. There is a TV with the resort channels in analogue mode and a digital satellite box with most UK free view channels available. The second TV in the master bedroom is linked to the resort channels (which are in a variety of languages including English, German, Portuguese and Spanish). There are DVD players and a music system with an iPod dock.

The large kitchen is fully fitted and equipped. There is a bar counter with 4 bar stools for those who like to sit and keep the cook company with a glass of wine, or get up early for a light breakfast. A separate laundry room leads off the kitchen with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.

The views from the terrace that runs around the whole of the living area are stunning, particularly when the sun is setting. The soft sounds of the surf breaking on the beach down the hill can just be heard, which adds to the magic of the place.

If you wish to rent the villa in winter, it has thermostatically controlled underfloor electric heating and a wood burner in the main living room. Logs can be supplied and the rental charges for winter use include the cost of the heating.

The villa was built in 2008 but only sold in 2013. We are the first owners. It is very special indeed and we are pleased to offer it for rental to guests, whom we expect will enjoy it and the Silver Coast region of Portugal as much as we do. In return, we ask that you care for it as if it were your own. If there are any problems, Elisa Jorge and her colleagues at Silver Coast Living are on hand to help. If there are any breakages, or if something is not functioning as it should, please report them to Elisa and her team, so that she can attend to them. If we offer the villa at a discount or for a shorter period than you booked it for to secure a rental, we shall keep you informed and pay you the balance, once we have recovered the full rental charge for your booking period, less the cancellation charge you will have paid.

We live and work in London and are both keen golfers. Michael was born in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up surfing on the southern Atlantic seaboard. The beaches of the area remind him of his roots. Claudia loves the climate of the Silver Coast. The pool and terrace area are perfect for reading a good book and relaxing in warm sunshine.

We have spent many happy holidays in Praia del Rey with golfing friends and our family. We now have grandchildren and find the resort and our villa the perfect place for old and young alike. It is a truly family friendly resort in every way.

We loved every minute of our stay here starting with the owners welcome by email and in the property itself . The property itself is amazing, very spacious, great pool and lovely views back towards the Atlantic...it could not have been better. We have stayed in the area before and knew how beautiful it is but the great accommodation just added to our enjoyment.

Amazing Villa in a quite beautiful part of the wor

Quite simply a beautiful villa with an amazing position within the resort. The pictures really do not do justice to the villa in the flesh. We travelled as a party of 4 adults and 3 children and the villa was perfect. The location has amazing views and is completely private with no overlooking properties. The villa is very well equipped with top spec fittings and a kitchen with all the utensils you could wish for. Outside space is great, with a large grass area, a great BBQ as well as a great sized pool.

The beach is only 5mins walk away and is quiet and unspoilt. I would say that the sea is best suited to stronger swimmers, and great for those learning to surf.

The acid test, would we go back? The simple answer is Yes without hesitation.

Family friendly luxury in the perfect location

We had a wonderful stay and my only reluctance about writing this review is that it will encourage others to book and our preferred dates won't be available for next year!! The first impression on arriving at the villa is of luxury and space and that continued to delight us for every day of our two week holiday. The property is incredibly spacious and well appointed, and the arrangement of rooms is very practical for the use of the pool and outside space. The location of the villa is perfect. Private and away from the more built up areas of the resort, but well within an easy stroll of the beach and the lovely resort restaurant. A short drive to the facilities of both the Marriott and the Royal Obidos hotels and to the Obidos Lagoon. A number of different beach options and places of interest to visit. And lots of advice and recommendations from the owners. Our boys, aged 5 and 8, had a wonderful time, as did my husband and I. We will be back!

My clients called once or twice per day just to tell my how fantastic everything was :-)

The villa they mentioned with only very, very good words. They found it so great that I think I just stop here in trying to write what they said. Otherwise I will have to use all the great positive words there is.

Since one of them are a friend and as well a colleague to me we have taken the decision to promote this villa more specifically when we talk to golf clients.

So I hope to be able to get back in the future with more bookings.

Fabulous place for a fabulous holiday!

The property was spacious, clean and well maintained. There were 8 adults and 2 young children in our party, who all thoroughly enjoyed the facilities and the stay. Having en-suite facilities for all adults was a real plus, giving everyone privacy and no long queues for bathrooms and showers!

So muss Urlaub sein - Beeindruckende Villa/Lage

Gerne möchte ich euch etwas von unseren Urlaub in Portugal erzählen.

1. Die Villa

Die Lage der Villa, sowie auch die Villa an sich ist einfach nur beeindruckend. An der Villa wurde nicht gespart. Die Verarbeitung ist von höchster Qualität. Des Weiteren ist die Villa enorm groß und sehr gepflegt. Die Villa ist in Wirklichkeit noch schöner wie auf den Fotos abgebildet. Das Schwimmbad ist auch groß und die Wassertemperatur des Schwimmbades ist sehr angenehm. An der Ausstattung gibt es nichts zu bemängeln. Alles war vorhanden und man muß wirklich nichts von zuhause mitnehmen.

2. Die Lage

Die Lage der Villa spricht für sich. Eine sehr schöne ruhige Gegend. Die Villa liegt auf einem Hügel und deshalb hat man wirklich eine schöne Aussicht. An manchen Tagen konnte man sogar die Wellen des Meeres hören. Der Weg zum Strand beträgt zirka 5-7 Gehminuten. Unsere Tagesausflüge führten uns nach Lissabon und Porto. Von der Villa aus braucht man zirka 1.15 Std nach Lissabon und 2.30 Std nach Porto. Die Villa liegt zirka 15 Minuten von der Autobahn.

3. Die Vermieter

Hat uns dort telefonisch kontaktiert. Sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Falls etwas benötigt wird dann kann man immer bei Michael anrufen.(Englischkentnisse erforderlich)

4. Bemerkungen

- Eine Mappe mit Informationen bezüglich der Villa und der Umgebung wird euch in der Villa zur Verfügung gestellt. Diese ist wirklich sehr nützlich.

-Wer Lebensmittel einkaufen möchte hat eigentlich 2 Möglichkeiten. Entweder nach Peniche oder nach Caldas da Rainha. Dort gibt es genügend Auswahl. Der portugische Supermarkt heißt "Pingo Doce" (Wer lokale Produkte probieren möchte. Es gibt natürlich auch Lidl, mit der vergleichbaren Auswahl an Lebensmittel wie in Deutschland) Am Hotel (unter dem Italienischen Restaurant) gibt es einen ganz kleinen Laden, der wirklich nur das Nötigste verkauft. (z.B Brötchen - Zucker) Auch dieser ist nur 5 Gehminuten von der Villa entfernt.

- Die Villa ist eigentlich ganz leicht zu finden, außer das erste Mal. Wenn man die Schlüssel abgeholt hat (bei einer Immobilienagentur) muss man ein wenig suchen um die Villa zu finden. Der Plan den man bekommt um zur Villa zu gelangen ist nicht ganz deutlich. Das erste Mal braucht man also Geduld

-Durch die Kombination Sonne und Wind hat man wirklich sehr schnell einen Sonnenbrand. Also Vorsicht ist geboten.

-Informiert euch über das Mautsystem in Portugal. Es ist nicht sehr teuer und nimmt euch immer ein Ticket.

We first purchased a townhouse in Praia del Rey in 2005 and got to know the area really well since then. We decided to upgrade to a villa and were fortunate to find what for us is one of the best villas on the resort, built to a high standard, with a pool and outside living area that is south facing and sheltered, but with magnificent all-round views. The villa is private and secluded, yet not far from where the action is at the PDR beach resort, the 2 nearby championship golf courses and their high quality hotels with excellent restaurants and poolside dining areas. Both golf clubhouses serve bar lunches during the day and have good restaurants for evening meals. The clubhouse at Praia del Rey sells take away pizzas and other meals. All of the rooms in Villa Cero da Velha are generously sized and furnished to a high standard. There are spacious terraces on both levels of the villa, sheltered from the sea breezes and prevailing wind. One of the advantages of this area of Portugal is that it does not get unbearably hot, because of the moderating effect of the Atlantic breezes. The views of the coast, the Praia del Rey resort and surrounding open countryside are stunning. There is easy access to the resort shop, a lively bar, Italian restaurant, Argento, and the magnificent sandy beach, all of which are within easy walking distance. The Silver Coast area of Portugal is unspoilt and where you can experience the rural life of Portugal, yet benefit from staying on a high quality award winning golf and beach resort. There is culture and history nearby at Obidos, wineries that cater for visitors are not far away and the Atlantic beaches are truly stunning, if you like the sound and scent of breaking surf and endless white sand.

Located on high ground overlooking the Praia del Rey resort in a small development of luxury villas, Aldeia de Praia, the villa has magnificent views of the coast, the Berlengas Isles and open countryside. It is equidistant from two high class 5-star hotels, one being the Praia del Rey Marriott and the other, the recently opened Royal Obidos boutique hotel, Evolutee. Both having spas, pools and excellent restaurants and are less than 5 minutes away by car. Praia del Rey and Royal Obidos are high quality golf resorts with superb 18 hole championship golf courses and excellent clubhouses, with good restaurants, serving lunches and evening meals. The clubhouses welcome non golfers and families.

Praia D'El Rey is arguably one of the most stunning golf courses in Europe. Set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, it has spectacular views over the Atlantic ocean and the Berlengas Islands offshore. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B.Robinson and was inaugurated on 14th June 1997. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge. At the Praia del Rey clubhouse they show sky sports on TV, which is popular if there is a big sporting event on.

The newly opened Royal Obidos Golf Course is a fantastic addition to the Silver Coast’s already existing gems. This par 72 masterpiece is the last golf course ever designed by the late Seve Ballesteros, and offers fantastic views of both the Atlantic Ocean and the Obidos Lagoon. It is a seaside heathland course, with wide fairways, undulating greens and plenty of water. Complemented with its fantastic clubhouse, the golf course is only a 5 minute drive away Praia d’El Rey.

The golf practice facilities at both courses are excellent and there are professionals available for lessons and coaching which can be booked in advance. There is a third well designed golf course at Bom Successo, less than 15 minutes drive away. This development has struggled recently because of the economic recession, so check on the condition of the course if you intend to play it.

The beach resort of Praia del Rey is 7 minutes walk away. Here there is a great bar and Italian restaurant (Argento), the resort shop and activity centre. The beach is 12 minutes walk from the villa. It is stunning, with hundreds of metres of sand and surf and is supervised by life guards in the peak season. You can walk from the villa along the beach to the Marriot Hotel. This will take about 30 minutes. There is a resort bus that you can use to return to the beach resort area of Praia del Rey, close to the villa. Check with the hotel that it is operating if you intend to use it.

Peniche and Baleal, the surfing capital of Portugal, are less than 15 km to the south west. There are surf shops that offer lessons, surfboard and wetsuit hire.

The historic walled city of Obidos, a world heritage site lies 15km to the east of the villa. Here there are many old buildings, churches, local bars and good restaurants. Each July Óbidos castle hosts a traditional 'Medieval Market'. For two weeks the castle and the surrounding town recreate the spirit of medieval Europe. All of the local bars sell Ginjinha or simply Ginja, which is a liqueur made by infusing ginja berries in alcohol and adding sugar together with other ingredients. Ginjinha is served in a shot form with a piece of the fruit in the bottom of the cup. You should not visit Obidos without trying it! Obidos also has a salt water lagoon where you can swim in calm seawater, sail or windsurf. It is overlooked by some good local restaurants. Restaurante Rio Cortiço Lagoa serves wonderful fresh fish grilled on wood fires.

There are several good wineries in the area around Bombarrel and elsewhere, which are worth visiting. Other attractions further afield are the castle at Leiria and the monastery at Batalha, a world heritage site, where King John 1 of Portugal, his wife, Philippa of Lancaster and their children, among them Prince Henry the Navigator, are buried. The pilgrimage town of Fatima is nearby, north of Batalha.

To get to the villa from Lisbon or Lisbon Airport, take the A8 Oeste towards Leiria. A section of this motorway is a toll road and you will pay just under €5.00 each way. Turn off at Junction 14 onto the IP6 to Serra d'El-Rei. From there follow the signs to Praia del Rey. Once in PDR, follow the main road to the far end of the resort. The villa is the last building on the right, above the Beachfront development, as you leave Praia del Rey towards Royal Obidos.

Villa Cero da Velha is generous in every way. The rooms are large, the terraces are spacious and the fittings and furnishing are of a very high standard. The villa is private and secluded. It is not overlooked at all. The pool is south facing which means it is in the sun all day and sheltered from the Atlantic breezes. The resort shop, a lively bar that is stunning when the sun is setting, an Italian restaurant (Argento) and the sandy beach are all within an easy 10 minute walk of the villa. Being equidistant and close to two exceptional 18-hole championship golf courses, each with club house restaurants and hotels that are family friendly, provides guests with many options for eating out, visiting bars and of course playing golf. The spas and wellness centres at the hotels are both outstanding. Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine and is one of Portugal's major golfing destinations. The par 73 course is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes - a unique experience. At Royal Obidos, the 18 hole championship golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros has magnificent golf and ocean views, a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant, bar, members' lounge and a large terrace with incredible views over the golf course and the ocean beyond.
