A well presented property in a wonderful location

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Dallowgill barn. It met our need well. I would suggest that ir would be useful for potential bookers to know that the approach to the property is on unmade-up roads so may not be suitable for all vehicles, and that the property is not ideal for infants as there are lots of stone floors, changes of levels and the stairs are difficult to make safe.

Wonderful house well suited to large groups

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 70 th party week at the house. The house has loads of room which enabled different age groups to socialise in different room. Would love to stay there again in the future. Lovely walks nearby with plenty of nice pubs to eat in.

Lovely holiday - weather could have been better

  • 4 of 5

My children and teenage grandchildren all enjoyed this location and property. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and much appreciated after a long journey. We even managed to rescue a ewe which had got stuck on it's back in a tractor rut.

Large, comfortable house in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

A group of 6 adults and 6 children, we stayed here for a week in May/June and had a brilliant time. The setting of the house in the Dales is beautiful and peaceful. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished, with plenty of space for everyone to relax in two separate sitting rooms, plus games rooms. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a separate utility room.

The weather was good so the children were mostly outdoors in the garden and fields around the house. We found plenty to do walking in the woods and on the moors straight from the house, as well as great places to visit nearby. How Stean gorge is spectacular and fun; Fountains Abbey also worth a visit.

One thing to note: it didn't bother us, but because of the remote location, the approach to the house is along an unmade track. It's worth the effort to get there!

We recently spent time at this beautiful property for a family get together for my 50th. Family group ranged in ages but all found the property and location perfect for what we wanted. House is in a rural setting this just added to the enjoyment due to the great surrounding. Plenty of fun had in the house but also well located for amenities only being a drive away. We had a day at Ripon races, a day at Lightwater Valley and the girls at a nearby spa.

I would definitely book again, and I will also be popping to the Grantley Arms for some excellent food.

Thanks for an amazing stay in a great property.

Great week in stunning Yorkshire countryside in a well equipped, character barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Manchester House so my Mother could celebrate her 80th birthday with her extended family. There were 5 adults, 2 uni students, 3 teenagers plus 2 other children ranging in age from 8 to 80 years.

What particularly suited our group was the space and layout - everyone was free to do their own thing or socialise together.

The property was well equipped with all we needed from games room to AGA. There were plenty of kitchen utensils and a useful utility room.

The immediate countryside provided walks, rivers to explore and challenging run tracks for some. We ventured further afield to visit local landmarks in countryside and towns for sight seeing and walks.

A few comments that we feel worth mentioning:

It was a squash to fit all 12 of us round the kitchen table to eat and as mentioned in a previous review my daughter's blonde hair turned light green - following research a shower filter could prevent this for future guests [using the family bathroom upstairs]. The wifi was patchy and slow - frustrating to those among us trying to revise using the internet.

Overall we had a holiday to remember and the birthday girl was delighted!
