About the property

Rustic in style, fenced pool, simple whitewashed house, and the sound of waves

This is as close as you can get to the Roche beach without being frontline. It’s a 30m walk to the steps that take you down to the sand, making La Casita a beach house in the true sense of the word (you will smell the sea, hear the sea, and even feel the sea spray on a rough winter’s day!) This is a house for families or friends who really want to do everything on the beach but sleep! It is also a personal favourite of ours because it is the house we rented before we made our definitive move down here!

The house itself is simple and functional, and the decoration is rustic, with many nice pieces from the owner’s native Castilla. There is a good-sized fenced pool area with an 8x4m pool. The rest of the garden is well-kept with a scattering of umbrella pines providing just the right mix of sun and shade. There is a large terrace (part sun, part shade), with room for an eating area (with mobile BBQ) and long siestas! Accommodation is all on one floor, with a spacious living area (sitting room with nice open fire at one end, and dining table at the other). The kitchen is small, but has everything you need; and, importantly, is easy to look after! There are three bedrooms: one double with en suite bathroom and large walk-in shower; and two twins, which share a second bathroom, with bath/shower.

Not only does La Casita enjoy all the traditional amenities that the Roche estate has to offer, but, located right on its northwestern corner, it offers access to the best part of the beach (a 3km stretch of sand, backed by dunes, with no houses, no hotels, and for 48 weeks of the year, virtually no people!) You can walk down the beach, and back through the dunes or pine forest, or visa versa; it’s all unspoilt, a protected green area, full of owls, nightingales, falcons, and partridge…and from March to May spring flowers galore.

It’s a 200m walk to the nearest beach bar (open June to September), and a 1km walk to the nearest beach bar open all year. It’s 500m to the local shop, bar, pharmacy, and a nice children’s playground. And it’s a further 200m to the tennis, paddle tennis, and football and basketball areas, all of which can be used (you pay for the tennis and paddle tennis). You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes. But, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer-de-la-Frontera, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are worth visiting; so good to have a car, and probably worth coming for two weeks rather than one!!!!

About DosXtremos

We are a husband-wife team that left Madrid for Spain’s deep south and a change of ...well, virtually everything really! We came up with the idea of Dos Xtremos in 2006, the catalyst being the need to increase the number of people renting our own properties, one in La Coruña and the other in Cadiz (Atlantic Spain’s two wonderful extremes). And since then, even though the business has grown (we now manage a number of properties for other owners), our goal has always been the same: “these are two wonderful and relatively undeveloped areas of Spain that have brought us enormous happiness; so let’s try and tell other people about them!” For this reason, the website has a heavy focus on regional information and includes details on the activities that we enjoy, both individually and as a family with young children.

All our houses are in the provinces of La Coruña and Cadiz, although there is a significant bias towards Cadiz, because that is where we live! Each house has been chosen because it has something special to offer, and we have tried to ensure that the mix meets a variety of tastes and requirements. In the case of the Cadiz properties, we live close by, meaning we are on-hand for problem solving and making recommendations. You may prefer to lounge by the pool (all our pools are very tempting), but if you do want to explore, we have suggestions to fill a lot more than two weeks! As for La Coruña, we personally are a long way away, but the properties are well looked after and our list of recommendations is even longer (to offset the less predictable weather!) We have a close and productive working relationship with all our owners, and we believe this shows in the way our properties are maintained.

Property in a beautiful position near the beach

The information about the property was excellent, every room was more than adequate in size and clealiness. The outdoor area was a delight, beautiful pool and barbecue. Andrew gave us fantastic personal service lots of tips for restaurants and places to visit. We would highly recommend this property and hope to visit again.

Perfect relaxation - beach and villa

Villa has a lovely feal to it. Had lovely alfresco breakfasts and dinners at the villa and some nice meals out. Relax at the villa pool in sun or shade throughout the day on the v.comfy sun beds or walk 25m to the beach!!

Dos Extremos, the agents were very helpful with info on the villa and what to do and provided excellent service with a personal touch.

Best spot on this part of the coast for consistent surf.

Lovely house close to the beach

Our second visit to Roche and our fourth to Cadiz province. We love the region, the Andy beaches and the 'Spanishness' of the whole place (even though we can't speak Spanish!). The house is perfect - big enough for four people but two wouldn't feel lost! Compact - yet plenty of room and a lovely flow to the house inside and outside. Bathrooms both have good showers and rooms are nicely furnished. There is no air con - but it's not an essential. Nice shaded areas outside and the pool is great. Parking off road us useful and it's fantastic to stroll quickly to steps to the beach. We ate in the Calle Francia bar a few times and it's great. A lovely restful stay.

A stone's throw from beautiful beach

We had a lovely week here enjoying morning and evening walks along the most fantastic beach. The house is well appointed and had everything we needed with a nice shaded area for eating outside and a great pool. The property is just next to the beach and is quiet and well equipped. Highly recommend.

Great family holiday villa beside super beach

This is a great house for a family. It is right beside a great Atlantic beach (with real sand and waves!) in the very comfortable 'village' of Roche. The house is both tastefully decorated and well maintained. Andrew was most helpful and responsive and made our stay most enjoyable. It is set on a quiet avenue - which was ideal for us - but the local restaurants (esp the beach one) were busy and good value. Also the local trips were interesting as was the local zip-wire in the trees. We'd go again..

Well presented fully equipped comfortable villa

The property was very well presented ,the internet worked well and the villa was well equipped with other electrical devices.

The location is perfect for the beach being just a few meters from the surf and sand.

We were made very welcome and well looked after during our stay,the villa is comfortable and the garden and private pool delightful.

Definitely a thumbs up for this property.

Easy drive to Jerez (sherry houses), Cádiz (possibly Europe's oldest city), Tarifa (and the boat to Tanger), the wonders of Seville, and the intriguing pueblos blancos (white villages), including Vejer-de-la-Frontera. This is the Spain of fighting bulls and flamenco, ferias and finos, and fine simple food. Visit the Roman ruins at Baelo Claudio, the lighthouse at Cape Trafalgar, the old tuna fishing port of Sancti Petri. 30% of the province of Cádiz is National Park, and here you will find green rolling hills, more akin to Ireland or Wales but divided by giant cactus hedges, one of the world's most important cork forests, and a micro climate within the Alcornocales park that is regarded as the last Mediterranean jungle.

Easy walk to the chemist, newspaper, hot bread, mini market, and bar; also to the playground, tennis, and 5-aside soccer. 20-minute walk down beach to fine restaurants and a heavenly spa! Yet at night all you will hear are the waves, nightingales, and owls!
