Overview

About the property

A lovely holiday home in an unspoilt, scenically stunning , hill top position .

Well furnished and with a welcoming ,homely atmosphere, the property features a spacious open -plan lounge and dining room with fireplace and double doors leading to an attractive stoep with unsurpassed ocean views.

The dining area, too offers superb sea views though its large bay window. There's a well equipped country-style kitchen (with serving hatch to dining area) featuring a modern gas cooking range, fridge/freezer,double drainer sink, gas geyser and appliances.

On the ground floor there are 2 double bedrooms (one with an additional single bed) - both with en suite bathrooms- and one twin served by separate bathroom. On the 1st floor there is second twin along with a lounge area and shower room. This area is particularly suitable for children and teenagers. There is shaded parking for 2 cars and ample space for at least a further 2 vehicles.

As Noetzie Bay House has its own generator, solar panels and gas geysers, power outages will never pose a problem, and it may be your first time to live in a house which is completely self sufficient in water and electricity terms.

Stunning location ,Just 5k from the N2 east of Knysna, Noetzie Bay House is at the end of a quiet country road.

About Aubrey or Thembi

Liz and Aubrey Wynne-Jones bought this property in 1989 because they fell in love with one of the few truly unspoilt and stunningly beautiful areas of the Cape. They finished building their home in 1993, with a design based on the traditional fishing cottages of the area.

Why Aubrey or Thembi chose Knysna

If you like being immersed in a feeling of tranquility in beautiful, unspoiled wild surroundings, you will love staying here.

What makes this house unique

Noetzie is one of the last coastal hamlets that actively ensure that the environment remains pristine. The offer of a tarred road was rejected, as was the installation of water and lighting from the national grid. As a result, the various forms of pollution - including light pollution - is minimal, and , as an example, fireflies still feel at home in the summer evenings. The beach is clear and clean and the endemic species of trees flourish in the coastal forest surrounding the lagoon and beyond

“ A truly unique spot! All the charm of a beach cottage with the comforts of a well-cared for holiday home. There’s room enough for a few couples or families looking to share. Our week spent at Noetzie Bay House was one I will never forget. The breathtaking views were exquisite, both morning and night. A fully equipped kitchen is perfect for rustling up those sea food dinners. This home gives the feeling of “being off the grid” – staying here was a real treat. Kim McClure Johannesburg”

Charming house with great views....

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at Noetzie Bay House, Miriam was awaiting us, & from the moment we met her, all was right with the world. She showed us around the lovely house, explained how to work everything, & didn’t leave until all our questions were answered.

She even returned from time to time during the week just to check in on us - we felt extremely well-cared for.

The views from the house are even more spectacular than photos can show.... we felt like we had reached the end-of-the-world (in a good way). Our breathing slowed, & we totally relaxed - a nice & too infrequent happening for two city-dwellers!

We did, however, leave long enough to enjoy day trips along the Garden Route & hikes in Tsitsikamma National Park, returning to the house to make good use of the pool, the great kitchen, the fireplace, & the 2 wonderful verandas where we could enjoy the views & delicious South African wines.

Thank you for a great stay, & thank Miriam, too, please!!

“We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay here"

  • 5 of 5

“We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay here, the home is spacious with a nice living and dining area. The rooms are great and everything was very neat. The location is also amazing with breathtaking views that you cannot get tired off. We enjoyed that the home completely functions off the grid with solar panels, a backup generator and a water-harvesting system. ”

Food for the Soul

  • 5 of 5

Noetzie Bay House is, without a shadow of doubt, the best place I have ever stayed. It is quiet and relaxing, and allowed us to remove ourselves from the humdrum of society, but with Knysna only 10 kms away, keep holiday admin like food shopping easily at bay. The house is comfortable, spacious and full of character, with breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. There is no other place I would rather be right now than sitting on the balcony, admiring the view with good company and a G&T.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Hi Aubrey

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Noetzie Bay House.

The house itself is charming and the position and views are spectacular.

The house is obviously well loved and this was apparent in the layout and attention to detail.

Miriam is an absolute gem and almost kidnapped by one of our guests!

We were grateful for the ample wood pile and many hours were spent lounging around enjoying the view and relaxing in the warm living area.

The beds were comfortable and appreciated especially the night after the Knysna run.

Our stay was splendid and we will mostly certainly return with families in tow.

Thank you for the efficient booking and again, Miriam is an absolute star!
