About Mrs Janet Hutchinson

Myself and husband Peter, live at Spikers Hill Farm and son Mark and his wife Debra and son Eric live on site. At some point in 2017 Peter and I will retire to Hutton Buscel and Mark, Debra and family will move in to the farm house

My hoby is horse riding and I like walking our dogs

Mrs Janet Hutchinson purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Mrs Janet Hutchinson chose Scarborough

We love living at Spikers Hill because it is an ideal location, has lovely views which vary from different aspects as you walk round the farm. Views to Yorkshire Wolds from one side to the North Sea at Scalby from the other side overlooking the beautiful Forge Valley. It is also near enough to visit Scarborough, Filey Whitby and other coastal areas or Moors and York

What makes this cottage unique

I enjoy the freedom to walk without worry of busy roads. There are tractors and farm implements to look out for depending on the time of year. We also have a herd of suckler cows (cows which have their own calves at foot)

Lovely, characterful cottage

  • 5 of 5

The owner and family are great - really friendly and helpful. The property is great - well equipped, warm, comfy, spectacular views and peaceful despite being at the heart of a working farm Will definitely want to come back. Good access to Scarborough and Yorkshire attractions.

Lovely home from home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could need; clean, warm and comfortable with loads of hot water on demand. It is quiet in a beautiful location with plenty of dog-walking from the door. Janet was very welcoming and helpful. Couldn't fault anything.

A really lovely place to stay, handy for Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. And only 30 miles from York. Nice holiday cottage , all the facilities you will need especially the big bathroom and plenty of space for a small family etc. Friendly owners who were very helpful during our stay. Thank you.

a nice place for quiet holidays

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful holiday apartment. Ideally with children. Very cleanly and affectionately furnished. The hosts are very nice, there is a parking bay before the door and you can lend bicycles. To recommend very much.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Granary Cottage at Spikers Hill Farm, and it really could not have been any better. The cottage is beautifully appointed and comfortable; everything you could possibly need is there. We love being on the farm, walking about, visiting nearby towns, going for picturesque drives along the coast or on the moors. The Hutchinsons made us feel very welcome. There was even a beautiful little calf born while we were there--so that was very special. We'd love to return.
