5 Bedroom 4 Bathroom Farmhouse with stunning pool and outside entertaining areas

Our lovely farmhouse, Ca’n Taa, has recently been luxuriously renovated. It has a private pool and terrace surrounded by palm trees which are lit at night. The main house at one end of the pool has three bedrooms, at the other end is a guest house / casita with two bedrooms. All bedrooms have reverse cycle air-conditioning. There is 30 mbps wi-fi throughout the property with a router booster allowing access in the pergola and casita. The living area in the main house is open plan with the kitchen opening on to the lounge and dining area, and out through double doors to the terrace.

Ca’n Taa is approached along a gravel drive between dry stone walls, with an orchard on one side. Beds of bougainvillea, lavender and rosemary greet you, with plumbago growing over the traditional oven outside the front door.

The front door opens on to a spacious hall, which leads into the open plan living area. Going through onto the terrace, you find yourself in a completely private space. The terrace, garden and beautiful pool are surrounded by a high dry-stone wall, except where there is a thick olive grove. There are plentiful sun-loungers for every guest, three of which are extremely comfortable doubles, with many sunbrellas.

To one side of the pool is a large covered pergola, this has an outdoor lounge, BBQ, and dining table for ten. Next to the pergola is the ‘Barracuda Bar’ named for the corrugated iron fish decorating its front, this has a music system and fridge. We stock the bar fully at the start of the season and ask that guests re-stock as they use, and this has worked very well. The pool, terrace, pergola, bar and palm trees all have lighting so you can enjoy balmy summer evenings.

The pool is 9 by 5 metres, with sweeping steps at one end. We have re-tiled it in dark blue mosaic tiles which make it quite dramatic and a couple of degrees warmer than normal. The pool is also unusual in that it has no shallow or deep end; it is all 1.50 metres deep, this makes it great for swimmers or teenagers’ games but unsuitable for small children. In common with most other pools in Spain it is not fenced.

Down a short path off the pool terrace is an even more secluded sunken sunbathing area. This area is the perfect place for those who want an all over tan.

Beside the casita, under a shady olive grove, we have two hammocks and behind the casita is a full sized petanque court. We have eight sets of petanque balls, six for adults with different weights and diameters, and two which are children’s sizes.

For 2017 we have built a gas BBQ into the chimenea in the pergola, and put a chill out zone in a quiet corner of the garden. The charcoal BBQ is still available for those who prefer.

Inside the main house the open plan living area has seating and dining for ten. The living room has a music system and a Smart LG TV which has Sky and Sky Sports by satellite, a subscription to Netflix and many other channels accessible over the internet. There is also a Blu Ray / DVD player with 5:1 surround sound.

The kitchen is fully equipped with two ovens, a five ring hob, large fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There is also a large laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, water softener, and the reverse osmosis filter for the drinking water tap in the kitchen.

Upstairs there is the Master bedroom with a large (or European) super-king bed, 200cms x 200cms (new for 2017) and an open en-suite bathroom and with its own terrace. There are two further bedrooms downstairs. One with a super-king sized bed that can be made up as a twin room with its own large en-suite shower room. The other a twin room which has its own but separate shower room. All bedrooms have reverse cycle air-conditioning.

The casita has two large air-conditioned bedrooms. One room has a large (5'3") king sized bed and the other a super-king which could be made a twin. There is a modern shower room and a small kitchen with sink, fridge and microwave, equipped for preparing breakfast. Each room has a sofa and one a TV with DVD player. Outside on the terrace there is a small round teak table, where casita guests can enjoy their breakfast.

To the front of the house there is an orchard with about 20 assorted soft fruit trees, peach, apricot, nectarine etc. There are also citrus trees: lemons, limes, tangerines and a grapefruit tree. Lemons and limes are generally available all year as the next crop often arrives before the last has finished. On the other side of the drive is a large fig tree, which fruits later in the summer.

The house is in the South Eastern corner of Menorca, close to the popular resorts of Binibeca, Punta Prima, Alcaufar and S'Algar. What we offer in Ca'n Taa is a quieter more rural holiday, but one which is only minutes away by car from of all of these beaches.

While private, we are not isolated, there are three good restaurants within walking distance for those who prefer not to drive; Villa Madrid, La Caraba towards Sant Lluis and Binissafullet Vell towards Binisafuller. In spite of its name Villa Madrid offers an affordable range of Italian cuisine and is best known for its wood fired pizzas. La Caraba is very Spanish, it is fine dining and for what it is not expensive. It is unfortunately only open 1st June to 28th September. We have also just added the Agroturismo hotel Binissafullet Vell to our recommended list, it is run by an Italian couple and everyone we know describes it as really good home cooking.

Between the two restaurants towards Sant Lluis is the family run supermarket Sa Botiga, rated by many as the best on the island, with great butcher, deli and vegetable counters, the latter with a table solely for Menorquin produce. They also have an excellent baker.

A little further beyond La Caraba, into Torret, are two other good restaurants the highly rated Pan y Vino and Sa Pedrera.

Very close to us, about 300 meters along our road to the North, is the Menorca Cricket Club, this is said to be the prettiest ground in the Med. Anyone is welcome to stop by to watch a game and have a drink. We play visiting teams April to October on Saturdays and Sundays, except for July and August when on Wednesdays and Saturdays there are make-up games arranged for any visitors who want to play, ages from about ten up. Kit provided. The real MCC came to play us early in 2014 and they were so impressed they hosted a tournament on our ground in September 2015, and returned again for our first weekend of the season in April 2017

Further in this direction is Llumaҫanes, their local fiesta with an impressive Jaleo is the first weekend in August.

We are an English couple who purchased this house seven years ago when we returned to Menorca after sailing across the Atlantic with the ARC rally. Now having fully renovated we have decided to rent out our lovely farmhouse in the summer.

Several years ago we owned a villa in Binibeca which we used and let out, and realised that this is where we wanted to retire. So we sold our smaller villa and bought this farmhouse to renovate.

We chose this property as we loved the completely private setting, the pool area and the palm trees. We had made it a condition that any house we bought had to have a palm tree by the pool and here we have six. The layout of the house and casita works really well giving lots of flexibility.

Heavenly Retreat

The villa was beautifully presented throughout and the gardens and pool divine. It was incredibly peaceful and as the sea was pretty cold in May we stayed by the pool.

The villa is near the airport (15 minutes ) which is incredibly convenient, and whilst planes fly over it is not bothersome.

The only downside was there was only one walkable restaurants, the rest we had to get taxis too, but they are reasonable and only 10 minutes away by car.

Lovely house and outside set up in tranquil place

Very nicely presented house and gardens,including herb garden and orchard(fresh G n T Lemons). Very spacious pool area with well stocked honesty bar (use replace) by pool. Good well lit outside dining area and all 100% private. Good restaurants close by, if you like Tai food La Boyera is worth a visit.

Superb Villa

Ca'n Taa is a stunning property, both inside and out. We were a party of two couples and thoroughly enjoyed our week there.

Peacefully set in beautiful countryside yet only a short drive to the airport and beach, it is perfectly situated for exploring the island. The description of the property was very accurate and nothing disappointed. Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented, Ca'n Taa contained everything you could possibly wish for, the interior being complemented by the outside space with its lovely pool, hot tub and Pétanque court and we were spoilt for choice with the many outside loungers and tables & chairs.

The owners, Fiona and Peter were especially helpful and provided excellent customer service. We would have no hesitation in both returning and recommending this property to friends.

Fantastic Villa Holiday - Fantastic Villa

Our family of 7 stayed for the past 2 weeks at this villa.

We have stayed at a villa before in Cyprus and had a fantastic experience, so we're very excited to see what this villa had to offer on our arrival.

We had followed the excellent reviews on Ca'n Taa prior to our stay and were very excited, on arrival we were not disappointed, the villa offered all the quality that previous reviews had stated.

Every room was comfortable and dressed nicely, the quality of the fixtures and fittings were top class, very nice quality kitchen and even Global knives (which are chef quality).

I really enjoyed the spec of the technology (Smart TV, NetFlix, Bose stereos inside and out which you can connect your MP3/iPhone to to play back your own music).

The walk in showers were appreciated by all, the pool was good and perfectly accompanied by a nice hot tub.

Being a family of 7 this villa offers lots of sitting and lounging areas outside so you are all not on top of each other, the outside seating, sunlongers and double love beds are all excellent quality and spread throughout the grounds nicely.

The villa is located very privately away from the hustle and bustle, it lends itself to nice BBQ family meals, the BBQ is even a Weber (it has both a large and small Weber charcoal BBQs and again great quality villa equipment).

A first class villa in a nice location, we will visit again and have shared on the details with our friends.

Beautiful house in Menorca

We loved our week's stay in Ca'n Taa. Perfect location in the countryside with easy access to coastal towns and walks, yet only 15 minutes from the airport. Es Castell, Cuitadella, Alcafar and Fornells were amongst our favourite places. But give in to the temptation to just relax and enjoy this beautiful house. The outside space is especially stunning - great pool, hot tub, bar/lounge area. Lots and lots of space to recline, sit, eat, read, play petanque and snooze. Perfect bliss. No question, we'll be back.

Staying here is basically like having a boutique hotel to yourself, just without the staff: beautifully designed interiors, spacious landscaped exteriors, with all the facilities you could ask for; all walled off from the outside world so you feel like you have your own little oasis.

Perfect for an intergenerational party - as families with noisy small kids can stay in the casita ('poolhouse' doesn't do it justice). They even have a huge plastic train set you can assemble, which cuts down on the toy packing.

We stayed there one week in August, and by the second day we were already wishing it was two weeks. Your only problem will be securing a booking - as most people who go seem to want to go back straight away.

In 2017 we will changeover on Fridays until 30th June. From the 1st July onwards it will be on Saturdays and also be Saturdays all season in 2018.

Please note our check-in time is 2.30 pm and our check-out time is 10.00 am. While every effort will be made to help earlier arrivals or later departures if the property is booked back to back weeks there is limited scope for flexibility.

If you have paid online the security deposit will be returned 7 days after check-out ( assuming no damage) if you have paid by transfer we will transfer the deposit back, normally within three days.
