The most beautiful view in the Alps .
This chalet is amazing . It is brilliantly set up for 10 people in good sized , well decorated bedrooms , with a large communal area /sitting room . There are 3 bathrooms , which means also 3 toilets - small but important detail - but keeps life harmonious . But the unbelievable thing is the view - not only from the awesome deck area - but from any balcony that you stand on . It is heartbreakingly beautiful , very few houses , changes with the sun through the day and at sunset , amazing star gazing at night . There are great walks right from the chalet ( buy a trail map anywhere ) for all abilities . Walk up the valley and buy the fresh Reblochon from the farm ' sous L'Aigulille ' . Boulangerie 7 mins drive in the morning . Clive and Kim were very helpful and the booking process was easy and reliable . The chalet is clean , TV and WiFi work well ( kept us up to date with the Olympics ). Kitchen well stocked , plenty of fridge space . 30 mins to La Clusaz . 40 mins to swimming at Talloires on Lake Annecy . I cant reccommend this lovely Chalet enough .

Peacefull and quiet, Perfect !
If you have a large family and you wish to share your stay with other friends or family, then look no further, the chalet is cleverly thought out so that the separate apartment caters for those who want to have some time out from the party. There will be few better views to wake up to than a fall of new snow covering the vista which awaits you at Chalet Homme Du La Lunne. Its perfectly equiped to cater for your every need, just close enough to the important bread shop in nearby Manigod for the early risers to collect bread for the day, just far enough from Annecy and the motorway for a speedy arrival to the high mountains. Once fed,a short 10 mins.drive to La Croix Fry gives access to the large and family friendly La Clusaz ski area, for braver skiers there is always La Balme providing some great “off piste" and spectacular views or conveniently stay at la Croix Fry and enjoy lunch at the edge of the piste while the beginers get started in ski school. We loved the warmth and friendliness of this very traditional French resort and have already booked for February 2015.

About the host

Host profile image
The Aravis Mountains captured our imagination over 20 years ago, and we were fortunate enough to secure a plot of land in the much coveted Manigod Valley. The chalet was built to our specifications, as a family home. It is rewarding to hear our children, 25 years on, refer to l'Homme de la Lune as 'home'. Indeed, they have grown up spending all their holidays here, summer and winter; and have enjoyed to the full everything the region has to offer.

Why they chose this property

Clive and Kim say 'We never tire of the views from our chalet, from every window - breathtaking. Mont Charvin rears up majestically overlooking the rural vista of the valley below, tiny chapels and hamlets of ancient chalets undisturbed with time. We enjoy the many routed walks that start from close by us , sometimes lucky enough to bring back some chanterelle or myrtilles. The children have always enjoyed a short climb up the hill to the local cheese farm to collect the local Reblochon. Perhaps the most valued treasure of our chalet is the peace - it is a friendly little hamlet with barely any through traffic to disturb the tranquillity. In summer we often visited the local trout fishery to fish for our supper in the lake near Thones. The the fun of BBQ- the 'plat de jour' and sitting on the deck with a bottle of wine watching the mountains turn pink as the sun goes down. Equally, in the winter, there are many gatherings of friends around our generous dining table with a raclette meal and the log fire crackling away. It's near the village and a short drive from the pistes. We love it as much in winter as in summer. There is always something to do around here, and it's always a pleasure to enjoy the warmth and comfort of our home away from home after a long day of activities outside.'

What makes this property unique

Its ideal location, in a calm and spectacular landscape across the towering Aravis mountain range. In our humble opinion one of the best views in Comburce. Easy access by vehicle to the family ski resorts of Croix/Fry/Merdassier (11km) where our children started their first ski lessons, progressing to the popular resort of La Clusaz (20km) but so lovely to return to a peaceful evening around the fire away from the busy bustle of resort life. Sundowners on the generous deck with friends around the BBQ is unbeatable. Many routed walks and hikes for all abilities, the local cascades are a favourite. We welcome well behaved pets, if they are reliable around summer grazing livestock. The local area also boasts a wide range of MTB and E bike routes, pick up maps from the Office of Tourism in Manigod Village
