Our holiday home, Villa Novo Puerto, is a well-maintained detached villa which we have owned since new in 1985. The house and swimming pool terrace is all on one level, so is ideal for families, couples and wheelchair clients. The spacious, bright and airy circular lounge is equipped with a large flat screen TV with satellite reception of most UK terrestial channels and some sky stations, and a DVD player. The system will also receive all of the main British radio channels. A selection of DVD films and CDs are available. The sideboard contains a large selection of books, board games and playing cards, and there is a dining table and chairs and two new comfy sofas.Gas and electric heating are available for out of season or cooler evening useage.The two bedrooms have air conditioning/heating units and the use of these is included in the weekly rental.

Repeat Client Bookings: The Mallorca villa is our second home for twenty five years, and many of our clients return here year after year. The house is well maintained and we make improvements and replace equipment as a regular routine. The Porto Cristo area is a pleasant and relatively unspoiled part of Mallorca - more like the real Spain - and a million miles away from the busy 'package tour' resorts around the Palma area. The two sandy beaches within strolling distance of our home are beautiful safe bathing coves, guarded by lifeguards during the season, and benefit from clear, shallow water.

Car hire is not essential during the Spring and Summer months, when there is a good regular bus service just a couple of hundred metres away. Taxis are easily available and there is a 'land train' which plies between the resort and Porto Cristo town ( about five kms.) on an hourly timetable from May to October, as well as the local red TIB buses which operate on a regular schedule between the local towns/ resorts.

THE ISLAND OF MALLORCA: Mallorca is the largest of the Ballearic Islands of Spain. Quiet, deserted, sandy coves, breathtaking mountain landscapes, peaceful, rolling plains and countryside and spectacular coastlines, not forgetting the wonderful, cosmopolitan capital, Palma. Porto Cristo is approximately one hour from Palma Airport (59 kms) and is reached by very good roads, much of which is on dual carriageway. Villa Novo Puerto is near two gorgeous, sandy beaches, Cala Mendia and Cala Anguila and all the amenities of the resort – shops, bars, restaurants and a bank are conveniently located. Both beaches are easily accessible and are sheltered by cliffs, ideal suntraps for acquiring an appriate tan. A green/ red flag system ensures safe bathing for all. The very luxurious and well appointed Club Mendia Hotel is close by and many of the facilities such as Horse riding, tennis, scuba diving etc. are available for visitors to enjoy on payment of any appropriate fees.

If you want to travel further afield, there are some wonderful and secluded beaches all around the island. We have our favourites, Canumells (20 mins) Porto Petro (30 mins) Cala Egos and Cala Esmeralda - Cala D'or area and two or three small coves towards the lighthouse at Porto Colom.

DINING OUT AT CALA MENDIA: There are lots of choices for eating out from April to October, some of which are our favourites, and all within walking distance of the villa. Our nearest favourite is THE VORAMAR, which is run by a young Spanish couple with Maria looking after the guests. She speaks good English and makes you feel welcome. The Voramar offers a selection of good value 'inclusive meals' as well as a very extensive a la carte menu.

LAS PALMERAS, just a short walk away is another restaurant well worth trying. 'Pako' specialises in an excellent value meal of the day at lunchtime. Choice of three course menu with wine and water for around 8 euros, whilst the VISTA ROMANTICA - open all year round - serves a reasonable variety of 'quick' meals - burgers, lasagna and spaghetti and also several traditional meat and fish alternatives and is also very good value. THE BEACH BAR, right next to the sea at Cala Mendia, owned by three brothers, is open from April to October.

About the Owner

We purchased our holiday villa in Mallorca in 1986. At the time there was very little in the small resort of Porto Cristo Novo, and we have seen the resort grow steadily into a pleasant resort with a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and a bank, all within a few hundred yards of the villa. After owning the house for almost thirty years, we decided that the time had come to sell up, and, much to our surprise, our daughter, Julie, decided that she would buy the property. We are delighted that the property will continue to be still within the family. Villa Novo Puerto, Cala Mendia

Our stay at Villa Novo Puerto was lovely, set in an attractive resort that had numerous restaurants and shops nearby. Cala Mendia beach was 5 minutes walk away and our location was perfect for exploring local beaches up and down the coast. The villa was well equipped, bright and clean. The pool and garden were lovely, well kept and extremely clean - we spent many a lazy evening on the patio having a delicious bbq and a glass or two of rioja. Although there was some daytime noise from the adjacent hotel it was not a nuisance and we were not disturbed at night. We would definitelyconsider Villa Novo Puerto for our next holiday in Majorca.

My wife and I have stayed at this Villa on several occasions.

It is situated in a quiet close within very easy walking distance to three excellent sandy beaches. Shops are very conveniently located a couple of minutes walk away where all proivisions and holiday items can be purchased. There is a pool in the garden which is regularly serviced and well mainatined.

The villa is very clean and well set out with two twin bedded rooms, both with hot/cold air-conditioning. The beds are comfortable and the linen is changed regularly. The sitting room has a comfortable lounge suite with Satellite TV (Free to air) and a dining table and chairs. There is a table and chairs on the patio and most meals can be taken outside.

The kitchen is of reasonable size with fridge, full oven facilities, a gas hob and microwave.

There is an excellent choice of restaurants nearby and all can be recommended so a variety of meals out can be obtained.

A regular bus service operates into Porto Cristo Village centre (10 mins) where further buses can be found to other parts of the island and Palma. There is also a novelty road train into Porto Cristo which is fun.

I would, and have, recommended this villa to family and friends and all have been of the same opinion.

We fell in love with the property and the local area. Mallorca is a beautiful island and we just love the scenery, the climate and the people. Because the villa with its private pool is staying in the family, we will continue to visit the island for the foreseeable future.

Our two bedroom detached villa is situated in a small residential close just four hundred metres from the gorgeous Cala Mendia beach. The beach is equipped with sunbeds and straw umbrellas, together with a bar/ restaurant right next to the sea. The beach also has a sea bathing flag warning system, and a lifeguard is on duty during the main holiday season.Cala Mendia benefits from a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, together with other facilities including a bank. This delightful resort is made up mainly of holiday and residential villas and small low rise developments of holiday apartments. There is a large up-market apart-hotel, also low-rise, which offers the use of a vast range of facilities, including bars and restaurants. Evening entertainment is also a feature of the hotel, which is a pleasant experience if you wish to while away a few hours after dinner.

There is a further beach - Cala Anguila - within walking distance, with similar facilities to Cala Mendia

Other Activities: Wind Surfing at Cala Romantica. The next resort about 2 kms away.

Golf: Our villa is in a perfect location for golf facilities on the northern part of the island. There is a lovely course at Costa de Los Pinos (Cala Millor approximately 15 mins by car) and another popular course at Son Severa (20 mins by car) If you want to go further afield there are courses near Canumells and Cala Ratjada. (approx 25 mins)

In the other direction near Porto Colom is a beautiful hillside golf club (Val-Dor) with wonderful views out to sea (approx 15 mins by car ) towards Cala Dor.

If you want really challenging golf on scenic hillsides, then Pollensa (approximately 55 mins) would be your ideal location, and there are also very good courses at Santa Ponsa, to the west of Palma (about 90 mins by car..

Two bedside lights and bedside units, and extra blankets if required. The iron and ironinbg board is stored in bedroom 2. Cot and high chair are available for a nominal charge. (£30 for both items per week.) An additional collapsible bed is available for a fifth (child) occupant
