Exquisite one double bedroom flat, Zone 1 in Central London

Updated: 26-Nov-2016
Superbly fitted one double bedroom flat in the heart of London

This enchanting apartment, fitted out to the highest standard (like a top quality hotel suite, only lovelier), is perfect for a couple or a single person and works well for holidays, short breaks, or for business-visitors. A third person can be accommodated on a small sofa-bed which will be very comfortable for a person up to 170 cm (5'6'') tall.

This apartment is on the first floor (one floor up from street level via a short, carpeted staircase) of an exquisite Victorian townhouse, built in 1846. The accommodation comprises an open-plan kitchen/sitting room, with ‘Smart’ TV and Apple Box. Unlimited wireless broadband is provided, as well as DVDs and pre-paid access to Netflix. Making the most of every inch of space, there is a small desk area, the two-seater sofa and a comfortable armchair! There are a range of different lighting choices, to suit every mood and need. Linen is provided for both the main double bed and the sofa-bed, as are towels, face cloths, toiletries and a welcome pack of groceries.

The kitchen/dining area, which has underfloor heating to complement the apartment’s gas-fired central heating system, is fitted with every modern convenience, all of high standard: refrigerator, freezer, stove, ovens, microwave, extractor fan system, kettle, toaster, food mixer. Plenty of high quality cookware and tableware are provided, sufficient to hold a dinner party for six people, which the dining room table folds out to accommodate. And if you don’t feel like cooking, there are bakeries and a wealth of restaurants literally round the corner.

The bathroom is small but perfectly fitted, with a powerful shower over the bath and atmospheric lighting. A separate utility area houses a washer-dryer and laundry baskets, iron and ironing board.

The delightful bedroom contains a full-sized double bed (5’0” or 150 cm wide) made up with high quality bedding. There is ‘mood’ lighting, a phone-charger/radio/alarm clock and a well-lit dressing table area and, in the adjacent small hall, plenty of wardrobe and storage space. A hairdryer is provided.

From the bedroom, a door leads out onto a charming sun-trap private deck, with table, chairs and barbecue – perfect for outside dining on a summer evening.

Cleaning and maintenance are to the highest standard. This is a real home-from-home with every detail attended to by the owners, who keep a sharp eye on the whole operation.

The street in which the house is located is the most highly-sought-after in the area: small, quiet and as pretty as a picture. The local district, Pimlico (in Westminster), is one of London’s most acclaimed ‘villages’, with a pleasant local feel and a wonderful array of shops and restaurants yet in the heart of this great city. The location is unmatched in London. You can walk from this apartment to most of the main tourist attractions (see LOCALITY on this web-page), or go jogging along the Thames, which is just five minutes’ walk away and find yourself in the green spaces of Battersea Park, with its ‘peace pagoda’ rising up beside the water. Bikes can be hired in the area, and if you bring your own bikes, these can be stored in the basement (ask us).

The property is a few minutes’ walk from excellent supermarkets, some of them open 24/7 and the transport links are amazing. There are taxis galore and you are two minutes’ walk from the nearest Underground (‘Tube’) station (Pimlico- Victoria Line) and one minute from the best bus in London (the No24, which carries you past the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street – the residence of the Prime Minister – and Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, on its short ride into the West End). Victoria Mainline Station and Victoria Coach Station are both 10 minutes’ walk away, providing quick and easy links to all airports and the overground rail network, as well as car-hire collection and drop-off points (parking is free in the street over the weekend and garaging is nearby). For drivers, there is easy access to the A3, leading out of London. For visitors from Europe, St Pancras Station (where the Eurostar ‘docks’) is a 10 minute direct tube ride away, from Pimlico Underground Station.

Feel like a local

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 3 days in this modern apartment in the Pimlico area of London. The location was fantastic: a great neighborhood feel but also close to the major sites, either walking or the Tube. Great restaurants within a short walk as well as great pubs. We enjoyed a pint at a local pub while talking to friendly locals. The apartment was very pleasant and nice to come home to after a long day of site seeing. Loved the heated kitchen floor and the great back porch. Adrienne and Carole were fantastic and extremely helpful. We highly recommend the apartment.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review! Yes, we love the gently heated floor, too! It is particularly delightful that you think of the apartment as a modern one, even though it is within a beautiful Victorian house. It was our aim to create a sleek, modern look and feel, within a historic home. Hurrah!

Cozy flat in quiet neighborhood in central London

  • 5 of 5

We spent about a week in this little flat. As other reviewers have noted, it is well outfitted, making efficient use of every inch of its 380 square feet. The photos in the listing are accurate, showing the snug bedroom and the open-plan living/dining area. The flat is very clean and clearly was updated recently.

We arrived to find a basket of treats: bottle of wine, cereal, crisps, coffee. Adrienne had sent us lots of preliminary information--best restaurants; best transportation; etc.--and we found many more lists of helpful information inside the flat.

The street is extremely quiet for central London, and we enjoyed the neighborhood a great deal. We are accustomed to staying in Bloomsbury or closer to the theater district, but we felt this flat still gave us good proximity to what we like to do in London. Transportation is extremely convenient: it's a short walk to both Pimlico and Victoria tube stations, and also to convenient buses. Materials in the flat mentioned the favorite 24 bus, which we took in to Trafalgar Square/Leicester Square several times, but we also used the 370 and the 360. My husband took the train from Victoria for a day trip to Canterbury. We also took a day trip to Bletchley Park, riding the tube from Pimlico to Euston and picking up a train there. From the flat it's also an easy walk to the Tate Britain.

We shopped for groceries at the Sainsbury's near Victoria, and we also checked out the smaller Tesco and Waitrose. In the area, we ate at O Sole Mio, an Italian restaurant with delicious food; at one of the nearby Indian restaurants; and twice at the Marquis of Westminster, a pub with an upstairs dining room. We generally made our own breakfast and ate out for lunch and dinner, though we occasionally picked up ready-made sandwiches at Sainsbury's and brought them back to the flat.

Communication with Adrienne and Carole was very clear and efficient.

We are very happy to have found this flat and highly recommend it to others.

Simply Wow

  • 5 of 5

The location Is perfectly located quiet streets and close to many restaurants ans grocery stores. On our arrival the owner left Milk and a basket with all we need to start our first day. Our best surprise was the BBQ. after spending 2 weeks in France in hotels, we were please to be able to cook BBQ.

Guides, maps and good tips from the owners were left for our use. The flat was perfect for 2 adults and our teen. For a fist trip to London we really liked all the major things to see but we specially like the Harry Potter walk, from londonwalks.com and Camden market (walk in the market before having something to eat. The market is full of foods stands).

Owner's Response: We are so happy that your little family enjoyed your stay so much - and managed to take in such a lot of London. We can see you used the wonderful 24 bus (our FAVOURITE bus!) which stops close to the apartment and takes you up past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, the Harry Potter stage show and the British Museum and then on up to Camden Market with, as you say, its wonderful food stores and fantastic atmosphere. Every teenager visiting London should go there. And we are so glad you used he barbecue!

This apartment was such a wonderful place to stay during our week in London. Adrienne and Carole were extremely kind and helpful during the payment process and gave us tons of helpful tips and food recommendations for the neighborhood. They provided a baby cot and high chair for us, and the welcome basket of groceries was so generous!

The apartment itself was spotless and comfortable. It had everything we could possibly want during our stay, including a balcony with a grill, washer and dryer, fully equipped kitchen, soft towels, etc. They even provided coffee, tea, and sugar.

It was right next to a couple of different bus stops and a tube stop. Very convenient. Only about a 20 minute walk to Buckingham Palace!

We truly enjoyed our stay in this apartment, and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

From the Owner

This was actually the first apartment that Adrienne and Martin ever owned! it was Martin's to start with. He knew the moment he walked into it that it was for him: light, compact, well laid out and situated in the best street in this delightful district.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Heathrow/Gatwick at 14 Miles Nearest Barpub : The Constitution at 400 Metres Nearest Ferry : Dover at 66 Miles Nearest Train : Pimlico Underground at 300 Metres Nearest Motorway : A3 at 3 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Pimlico Tandoori at 250 Metres Car: not necessary

With its amazing CENTRAL London location (SW1V 2NP - Google it!), this quietly situated apartment is brilliantly positioned right in the heart of London for a see-all London visit.

It’s a minute's WALK from shops, supermarkets, restaurants, outdoor food-market, Pimlico Tube (underground) & 24-hour taxis, buses, car clubs, bike hire.

It’s a 10-min WALK to an intimate, brand new three-screen cinema and major theatres (currently WICKED and BILLY ELLIOT are running), as well as to the River Thames, Buckingham Palace, Tate Britain, Lambeth Palace, Westminster Cathedral, M16, Mi5, St James Park, Victoria Station & Victoria Coach Station (from which there are easy rail/coach links to Heathrow, Gatwick & Europe). And 15 minutes to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street , the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre and all the key government department buildings in this great city.

It’s a 20-min WALK to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the King's Road/Chelsea. Short tube/bus rides take you direct to Harrods, the major Museums in South Kensington (or you can walk to them in 40 minutes), to Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, the National Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the Festival Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe, the National Theatre & National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, IMAX, Waterloo Station, Tate Modern.

Local activities include shopping and restaurants, (a fantastic selection), London bus tours and river boats. There’s an excellent health food shop and a swimming pool and gym within five minutes’ walk( open to all), and you can jog through the backstreets up to St James’ Park (in front of Buckingham Palace) which then adjoins Green Park, or head south along the river for ten minutes to reach the wide open spaces of Battersea Park.

Victoria Mainline Station, just ten minutes’ walk from the house, has long been the stepping-off-point for Europe - and the magnificent Orient Express still leaves from there. During the two world wars, soldiers traveled from Victoria to the continent. The district then was full of small shops where tailors and seamstresses adapted uniforms to fit. Today, some of those shops remain – but now they’re haute-couture.

From the Owner

The remarkable thing about 'Pimlico' (the area in which this lovely apartment is situated), is that it is quite like a village, and yet it is right in the heart of perhaps the greatest city in the world. Neighbours know each other; the three intersecting streets that make up 'the Moretons' (also known as the Moreton Triangle) contain many family houses and have an active residents' association, the people in the shops are friendly, and yet the district is cosmopolitan and exciting. In Pimlico you can be peaceful, yet never feel that life is passing you by. . .
