RdP is an impressive fully refurbished four bedroom apartment located within the most traditional and picturesque district of Florence's historic centre, Santa Croce, a stone's throw from the Duomo (a mere 400 meters away), ten minute walk from the main shopping streets, where the fashion boutiques are located.
The apartment occupies the 'piano nobile' (1st floor) of a historically protected building, dating back to the 16th Century, and features all modern comforts such as air conditioning throughout, Wi-Fi internet connection, new and fully equipped kitchen.
While refurbishing the apartment, in 2013, we maintained its original architectural characteristics, very spacious rooms with high ceilings, large windows, frescoes, parquet.
The impressive living area, facing the internal courtyard and overlooking the back of the historic opera house in Florence, Teatro la Pergola, preserves its original fescoes, some rooms have frescoed ceilings, others have panelled ones.
The apartment features 2 entrances, one from the ground floor, opening into a majestic marble staircase, one more from the first floor, served by elevator.
The four large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, are all located on the first floor.
The first one is served by a spacious shower room.
The 2nd bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower, bath tub and double wash-basin with marble counter.
The 40 and more square meters large master bedroom, with its amazing decorated floor and fire-place with sitting corner, enjoys a large and comfortable en-suite shower-room with double wash-basin with marble counter.
Accessed through the oval shaped studio, the 4th bedroom enjoys a beautiful marble fire-place, decorated with 'maioliche' and dominated by a high mirror and a stylish cast iron tub, to compensate the small shower room serving the bedroom.
The apartment also features a parking for one car inside the internal courtyard (guests should pay attention to the fact that the access to the open air courtyard is through a narrow gallery, which access is not indicated with large cars and/or vans and that the apartment is located within the restricted traffic area of the city centre).
This luxury 4 bedroom apartment located in Florence's historic centre is ideal to enjoy all beuties of this enchanting city without the use of a car, simply walking around the centre, just like Florentines do.
Guests spending their holiday in Florence at RdP can also combine their stay in the city with a relaxing period spent in the countryside, an hour drive from Florence towards the coast, here's the link to the country house: https://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p75277?uni_id=1006534
The combination will grant the perfect Tuscan holiday, a mixture of art and nature, fun and relax.
I first enjoyed learning about interior design while refurbishing the country house, in 2005, then this apartment in Florence followed. Not an easy task as I wished to lighten the structure of this historic apartment, merging the artistic elements with a modern comfort. I have been working for a travel agency in the past and I enjoy providing a sort of 'concierge service' to my guests, when requested, providing useful tips about unusual places to visit, good restaurants and other suggestion for a unique holiday in Florence.
Federica Di Paola purchased this apartment in 1950
Feeling in Florence also means to live within a historic apartment, elegantly furnished and with all modern comforts (air conditioning throughout, large screen TV, I-phone speakers, Wi-Fi internet connection)
The apartment is located on the piano nobile (1st floor) of a historically protected building and it features frescoes, stuccos and other decorated elements.
It lies just behind Teatro della Pergola and close to Teatro Verdi.
The neighborhood is typical, not commercial, everything is nearby, the perfect starting point for daily trips around Florence's city center, the cradle of the Renaissance.
A quintessential Florence experience in a grand apartment which was in itself a highlight of our visit. Beautiful antique decorations sit alongside the modern comforts required for a relaxing break. Location is as good as it gets. Santa Croce is home to many wonderful restaurants - we only wish we had discovered it earlier. Federica is a gorgeous host and provided us with some excellent recommendations and support during our stay. Highly recommended.
Our entire family of nine enjoyed our twelve days at Federica's historic apartment. It is ideally located near the Duomo. We enjoyed the comfort, the spaciousness and the location. The kitchen is large, well equipped and located next to the dining room/living room and terraces. Bedrooms and common areas were spacious and comfortable. The furnishings were exceptional and everything in the apartment functioned well. There is a convenient well equipped laundry room. This apartment added to the charm of a Florence stay. It was the first visit to Florence for our grand kids and they appreciated the luxury of the accommodations. We hope to return.
Pros: location, location, location!!! Big rooms, four bathrooms, nice kitchen, nice neighborhood, walking distance to many important historical site. Four bathrooms although one is super small.
Cons: street noise at night was significant. Down the street from a hospital, therefore many ambulances. The apartment had a musky moldy smell. Some of us were impacted by it, one person with a history of asthma had it the worst. No place to hang your clothes. The building is old and even though some remodeling has taken place, it could use more work.
If the mold doesn't impact you, it can be a great place to stay.
Our family of 7 adults enjoyed our three night stay in this very impressive, charming apartment! Even tho it is extremely spacious, it has a warm, cozy feeling to it. The updated kitchen and bathrooms are a plus and we used the washing machine and drying racks. It is in a great location and we walked to all of the sites. I also recommend the BluCar Service, which we found in the apartment booklet. We had an awesome driver, Christian, and had a very pleasant drive to Siena!
Federica is very easy to communicate with and her assistant Lidia, who met us upon our arrival was also very helpful.
I definitely recommend this beautiful apartment!

This apartment is clean, perfectly located and lives up to all expectations!
What a wonderful privilege to stay in this opulent and historic home located in the center of Florence. It is a stunning property, complete with Renaissance period frescoes on the walls of the huge living room/dining room, as well as one of the bedroom ceilings. The property was just perfect for our party of 8 (3 adults / 5 teenage kids). It mixes elegance and comfort brilliantly. The beds and linens were deluxe, and the bathrooms sumptuous. The kitchen was large and well-appointed with all modern appliances. We were thrilled to be able to shop at the Sant Ambrogio and San Lorenzo (Mercato Centrale) markets and provision fabulous meals around the commodious dining table. The kids enjoyed the 'green room' for playing board games in the evening and posting photos using the wifi (not very reliable outside of this area, but just as well from a parent perspective). The location is central and all major sites can be reached on foot (this is a walking town) in 10 - 20 minutes. The laundry room down a flight of stairs is another nice amenity; while there is no dryer, there are plenty of hanging racks.
All-in-all a great experience ! Thank you Federica and Lidia.
This apartment was exactly what we needed for our group of eight. The pictures show how elegant and spacious the apartment really is. We loved the fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom with a stand-up shower. The living rooms were very comfortable for gathering in the evenings for a glass of wine or two. We didn't cook, but the kitchen was nice for preparing snacks and breakfast. The location is great. You're in the city, so it can be noisy at night on the weekends. Federica is wonderful to work with and responded quickly to all my questions. I would highly recommend this property.
The apartment is located right in the heart of Florence, within the most characteristic district of Santa Croce, behind the Cathedral, close to many good and cosy restaurants.
The historic city centre is all visitable from home with pleasant walks.
