Delightful and superbly equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a place to stay in Edale that will truly be like a home from home, stop reading and book this cottage! It's one of the few places that actually lives up the photos and description online - it is really lovely and comfortable.

We stayed here as a party of 4 adults for a 3 night walking holiday and from the initial enquiry to post-leaving follow-up, the whole experience was first-rate. Julie, the property manager, is responsive, professional and did everything necessary to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

The kitchen has everything you need - top quality NEFF induction hob and quality cookware, enough plates, crockery and cutlery, a dishwasher, double sink, storage cupboards, fridge freezer, cafetiere, corkscrew, bottle opener - you really don't need to bring anything! There are also enough decent wine glasses - very important. The only minor thing was the number of drinks glasses - these have obviously dwindled away over time and not been reported to Julie. I did let her know and they are going to be replenished.

The lounge is comfortable and plenty big enough for 5 adults, rock solid broadband wifi, TV and DVD player, lovely wood burning stove and great views of Mam Tor and Back Tor. There is no phone signal here or anywhere else in Edale that we could find, but you can use the cottage's wifi to make VOIP calls e.g via skype or WhatsApp.

Bedrooms are comfortable, linen and towels are provided (May 2017) and the bathrooms are fitted out to a high standard. Power showers are great and there is constant hot water thanks to the combi boiler.

I would point out that the stairs are quite steep so, although this wasn't a problem for us at all, you would have to take care with children (same with stairs in all houses though I suppose). Please also note that the loft room and its ensuite has some areas of restricted headroom - again not an issue for us.

There are lots of walks around Edale - I recommend buying the guide "Walks around Edale" from the Visitor Centre" to take full adavantage - and some challenging cycle rides as well. The Rambler Inn is a good pub serving nice food and a good selection of beers and is only just over half a mile walk away.

In summary, this is one of the nicest places I've stayed in for a walking holiday and I plan to return. Highly recommended.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent value for money. Well equipped cottage with amazing views from every window. Very comfortable with plenty of space for the 6 of us and good WiiFi connection. An ideal location with easy access to Edale with it's train station and several incredible walks from the doorstep. Our only regret is we didn't have more time to explore the area. Definitely planning to come back again soon.

Very well equipped cottage with nice kitchen. Spacious lounge area and tv with good Wii Fi connection. Good sized bedrooms and high standard showers & bath.

Lovely decor throughout. Pretty outdoor garden, small with easy access to running river below in valley. Short drive/walk to train station and visitor centre.

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, clean and with everything you need. Complimentary tea/coffee/milk/firewood awaiting on arrival. Views front and back are truly delicious, especially from lounge. Owners friendly and professional providing lots of info and ensuring a comfortable stay. Location is great for walks in all directions, highly recommend. First time in Peak District but easily compares to the lakes, will return for sure.

Lovely cottage and location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! We were very happy to find the cottage heating had been turned up prior to our (snowy) arrival. The cottage is lovely - in particular, there are fantastic views on both sides. We hope to return!
