Eco-Green living near Florence / Apt in16th Century's farm - ORGANIC LYFESTYLE

Green Living and sustainable retreat. PODERE MONTISI is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in the Tuscan landscape, only 10 min train ride from the center of Florence and the Duomo and one hour from Siena and the Chianti region or seaside, 10 min from Prato.
Come and share with us! Real Tuscany: our old Tuscan fields
Casa Toscana is a delicious rural romantic 2 bedroom apt, refined taste (1 double, 1 two single) kitchen, living room and garden in a wonderful Tuscan countryside. It is fresh in the summer because of the big stone walls and warm in the winter for the pellet / wood heating floor.
Podere Montisi the wonderful countryside with rolling hills of olive groves, lavender hedges, vineyards and ancient wheat and our biodynamic farming.
We have projected in 2008 the restoration of our 16th century old farmhouse in a sustainably way and nature, attentive to minimum energy impact: solar panels, wood / pellet heating, roof-water used for vegetable garden, bio-architecture restoration with natural and bio materials.
The ground floor is connected to the garden through door windows. Brand new, fully equipped kitchen: electric hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Service bathroom with shower sink and bidet. First floor: you will find a large, nice-decorated bedroom, with bathroom in the room. The second bedroom has a cypress wood parquet floor overlooking a cypress wood.
The rent includes grill, umbrella, table and chairs. The house is located in an organic eco-friendly, ogm-free 14 ha farm (Podere Montisi, Calenzano, Florence, Tuscany) that produces extra virgin olive oil, officinal Tuscan cooking herbs and Tuscan ancient heritage wheats - and 10,000 years old Einkorn - in harmony with nature and biodiversity. The farm is located in the Archaeological and Agricultural Park of Travalle.
Our family lives at Podere Montisi farm since 2010, every stone of the country, natural stone and Tuscan terracotta floors, natural lime, wax and natural colors for the walls, fragrant cypress wood for the mezzanine.

Absolutely Brilliant
We had a wonderful time at Podere Montisi. Barbara was the perfect host and made us feel very wanted and welcome. The kids absolutely loved the cats and dog! The property was very spacious and in a lovely location, perfect to explore all the region has to offer. We will be back.

Beautiful and quiet.
Our stay at Calenzano country home was delightful. The scenery is amazing. Barbara was gracious and thoughtful to us. Even baked some fresh bread for our morning breakfast. We would love to come back and stay again.

Great experience, enjoying the Tuscan life
We received a very warm welcome by Barbara and her husband after a long journey by car. Everything was taken care off and all very clean. The house was great with a lot of attention for details and providing all comfort. Our young kids (4 and 6 years old) had their own (funny) room with good quality beds and bed sheets/blankets. Our Master bedroom was spacious with own bathroom. The living room downstairs was furnished with beautiful antique furniture. The modern kitchen was made in a rustic style fitting the room and further there was another full equipped bathroom in the same high quality style as upstairs. All rooms were beautiful decorated in the traditional Tuscan style. We spent most time outdoor walking over the estate or its surroundings sometimes joined by the very friendly St. Bernard dog. Although for our young kids its imposing posture they loved his company. The view from the farm over a valley and mountains was beautiful and peaceful. We made several trips to the famous towns and cities part of Tuscany, all easy to be reached by the not so far located access to the highway. Supermarkets and shops were by car within 15 min reach. All very convenient. Also we enjoyed a close located restaurant (on walking distance of 3 km), very easy going but with very tasty Pasta's and Pizza's and good service, partly on the outdoor terrace. We are impressed by the ecological operation and the drive to keep (one of) the oldest wheat still existing and grow it with so much passion next to the also ecologic cold pressed olive oil from own olive trees. Our son had a very good time playing with their son who shared all his toys and was teaching him many new things. Thank you Barbara for the first morning breakfast the with you special own baked bread from your very special ancient wheat and lovely jam. An unforgettable and great experience in Tuscany, with a great family! Hope to see you again! Erik, Simona and kids.

Que Bella!
Where to start...Barbara and family are incredibly generous and gracious hosts. Our family feels so lucky to have shared their home for the few days we did. Driving down their majestic cypress lined drive seemed like we were entering another world. Once at the home the star of the property, Baloo the giant bear of a Bernese Mountain dog, immediately captured our hearts and attention. Baloo, the goodest of boys, kept us entertained and provided an extra level of comfort you will not find elsewhere. The home is large, yet very comfortable, keeping five us happily together. The views must been seen in person to fully appreciate as do the breakfasts. Please do yourself a favor and indulge in the homemade breads provided. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (easily walkable) was something out of a movie...more Bernese Mountain dogs, attentive staff, incredible ambiance and of course outstanding food. We left with the whole staff, including the little girl (Anna?) bidding us Ciao! as we left completely satisfied with our pasta, wine and tiramisu lunch. In order to get to this property you will need a car as it is 10 minutes or so to the Calenzano train station. The train to and from Firenze (Florence) was an easy and cheap ride, an excellent way to see the city while enjoying the tranquility of Tuscany. We will be back!
