About the property

2 bedrooms, living room, bathroom with shower, full kitchen, terrace with view.

The apartment Montebello is located on the fifth floor with lift until the fourth floor than there are 2o steps to reach the apartment. It consists of a large living room, one double room, one single room, a spacious bathroom with shower and a fully furnished kitchen. TV, WiFI, air conditioning, dish washer and washing machine are provided.

Few steps leads you to beautiful terrace from where you can admire a gorgeous view of 360° on the city and hills around Florence.

Apartment “Montebello” is located in the hearth of Florence and it is located one of the most silent and peaceful city-centre streets, Via Montebello. The apartment's neighborhood was called “Ognissanti” thanks to the presence of the florentine-baroque Church “Ognissanti”. From 1865 to 1871 Florence was the capital of the recently enstablished Kingdom of Italy, so that many palaces in the Ognissanti neighborhood (including that of Montebello Apartment) were built in order to host the members of the Government and their families. The area is plenty of typical italian craftsmen's bottegas, medieval churches, osterias, trattorias and outstanding italian restaurants. The famous Lungarni are just around the corner and the Duomo is just a five minutes walk from Montebello Apartment, Palazzo Vecchio – 10 minutes, Ponte Vecchio – 7 minutes, Palazzo Pitti – 15 minutes and the Uffizzi Museum – 8 minutes, Santa Maria Novella station- 5 minutes.

Just next to the apartment's palace is situated the bus stop of the Florence Site-seeing red buses and others. Nearby the Montebello street there are two supermarkets, some bakeries and delicious pastry shops.

Wonderful, but . . .

  • 4 of 5

Pros: spacious, clean, comfortable. Good location close to many major sights. Amazing views from rooftop terrace. Friendly, efficient and helpful owner.

Con (only one): the adjoining apartment was occupied by a group of very noisy (American) students and the walls are thin. We were at the mercy of their schedules which consisted of very late nights when we were tired and would have liked to go to sleep before 2 am.

The owner was going to speak to the landlord -so this might not be an ongoing issue. But ask.

Great view of the city from Lucia place!

The view from the crows-nest patio is awesome! Every morning we watched the sun rise over the Duomo. At night, we watched the sunset over the snow-capped mountains while the moon would rise over the Duomo. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants in the neighborhood too. We love the Culinaria Bistrot at Piazza Torquato Tasso 13 Red

The view from on top won me over in advance but there was also convenience and charm.

The location is convenient to the Ufizzi and Duomo, etc yet is a relatively quiet location a half-block from the Arno. Past two sets of big front doors, a small elevator took us to the 4th floor and another flight walking up brought us to a charming apartment with a pleasant bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. I loved the views from the patio/deck (another flight up). On arrival we were met by Lucia who was professional, pleasant, indeed very helpful. She explained procedures and made a great restaurant suggestion. I didn't feel a need to ask about HVAC - I could see prominent radiators and wall air conditioners. We were quite comfortable until late the third day when we sought trigger the radiators but could find no thermostat. I called Lucia and she promptly appeared to remove the November chill. We passed our local church several times and only stepped in because we had "time to kill" between our exit and the taxi ride to the airport. I strongly encourage a visit to the nearby Chiesa Ognissanti and its cloisters, and behold paintings by Giotto, Ghirlandaio and Botticelli, (who is buried there). I believe Amerigo Vespucci is as well. Three days were a mere introduction to Florence with no chance to explore greater Tuscany. When we return, I hope to again stay at Lucia's, 7 Via Montebello.

Location, Comfort & That Terrace - Perfection

  • 5 of 5

I have now stayed at maybe 25 apartments through HomeAway, & have become pretty choosy as to what I'm looking for.

This has it all, and I really do mean that. It is sheer perfection.

To begin with it is in a great spot. Everything is reachable on foot, and there are cafes, shops & a supermarket less than 200m away.

The Uffizi, Palazzo Strozzi, Ponte Vecchio, etc, are a 10 minute stroll away.

It's also a great location for a runner like me and Lucia was kind to suggest an excellent route around and up to Piazzole Michelangelo for stunning city views. I can also recommend a steep but rewarding 15km return run to Fiesole in the hills to the north.

The appartment itself is simply beautiful. The main bedroom & sitting room are comfortable & relaxing. The kitchen is excellent, and well equipped, and there is even a lift for all but one flight of stairs- a true rarity!

However, the highlight must be the terrace. Dawn breakfasts, and dusk drinks are a must even in late October. The view is unsurpassed in anywhere I have ever stayed.

Add to this how helpful, kind & easy to communicate with Lucia has been, and this has been one of the 2 or 3 best places I have ever stayed.

I am loathe to review so positively, since I always suspect that it can't really be that good.

This truly is. Please don't book it all up too far in advance- I want to come back!
