About this property

Moorea's House of Peace

Fare no Tehau means House of Peace. The home is owned by a Tahitian woman who lives most of the year in Hawai`i. Fare no Tehau is a home that is rented out to those seeking an authentic Tahitian experience with all the comforts of home. A thatch roof, beautiful native hardwoods and full sized, fully equipped kitchen with standard refrigerator/freezer, gas stove/oven together with utensils, plates, cups and glasses. Two full baths and comfortable beds will greet you. The home is located on the water side of the road, with a gorgeous orange/green mountain view, with two docks sitting on the marina, in an exclusive gated community on the island of Moorea: the Jewel of the South Pacific. Moorea is a five minute plane ride or twenty minute ferry ride from the capital city of Papeete.

The marina on which the home sits leads into the sparkling lagoon (a short kayak ride away) the neighborhood is quiet, a fine French restaurant is right outside the front gate of the community (a grocery store is right outside the other entry gate) and those who have visited most often say: 'we can't wait to come back!' The yard has papaya and lime trees, fishing is great in both the marina on which the house sits or in the lagoon. There are two boat docks at the house and a kayak is available for your exclusive use!

The home is on the northwest corner of Moorea island, the leeward and dryer side of the island. If you just want to get away from it all, this is the place to get to! Please google 'Fare no Tehau' for our other sites with more photos!

We did not stay at this property
We arrived at the property and were disappointed in the condition which I communicated to the owner. We did not stay and rented another property. The owner kindly reimbursed us all fees.

Truly At Peace
Upon arrival we were impressed with the many unique features. The layout was well designed. It was very comfortable inside and out. Hierani was the perfect host. Our strolls around the neighborhood were made all the more enjoyable by all the friendly people. We will miss our morning coffee on the patio with the lovely view. Of the three showers, the outside was by far our favorite. One week was not long enough. It was the perfect location by not being too busy, but still providing opportunities close by for restaurants, gift shops, and stores to buy supplies. We will never forget our wonderful experience in the House of Peace.

What a fantastic find! Highly recommended
Had a wonderful time staying here with the family. Great location - a mere paddle away from the lagoon.

A true Polynesian experience surrounded by beauty!
This authentic thatched Polynesian home is situated in a lovely quiet neighborhood on a canal that takes you to the famous Mo'orea lagoon. For three months, using the available kayak, we enjoyed this access to the beautiful variegated blue waters that allowed us to snorkel with black-tip reef sharks, sting rays and stunning fish of every hue, shape and size! During our spring visit, all the tropical flora was blooming and the fragrances that wafted through the open house at night were amazing. Just a reminder...this house is open...no A/C! You will become warm and fans are necessary! We found that cooling yourself with water and then letting the air do its job often was the best alternative. And don't be alarmed to find that when the wind blows, debris will enter through the open parts of the house. There were a few issues, most of which were addressed immediately. Some were going to be taken care of later but at least check to find out how to restore power to the house at the street power box, if it goes out! As we said, a true Polynesian experience! Oh, and be kind to Gary, Gregory and Gigantor I & II...the endemic geckos of the House of Peace!

Top Lage und ein Haus mit charme.
Sehr gute Lage.

Ida owns the property. Ida is a child of Tahiti who, after being orphaned at 9, was raised in Hawai`i. She never forgot her Tahitian roots and travels often back home where many of her brothers and sisters still live. Ida's daughter Teiti helps to manage the property.

Why they chose this property

This home is well kept, has good mana (spirit), and is surrounded by friendly neighbors. Everything is close and the price is right.

What makes this property unique

The Pandanus roof keeps things cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The full sized appliances, and washer/dryer, make your stay convenient and fun. Those who have stayed with us almost universally express their gratitude and intent to return. Sorry no A/C
