About the property

Marseillan waterside - 2 bedrooms and sunny terrace overlooking waterside.

This gorgeous, stylish, Architect-designed property is newly converted from an old Marseillan wine warehouse and enjoys stunning views across the marina and port from the sunny south- facing terrace and main bedroom.

The property has 2 bedrooms (a good double and large twin). If you like the sun this is the property to book as there is a large terrace (as in the pictures) which faces the south and gets sun from morning until sun down in the evening, for dining/sunning and overlooking Marseillan old port and boat marina it is ideal for a couple or family.

Watch people strolling along the waterside from the terrace, see the yachts and barges come and go or take a stroll around the corner to the many portside cafes and restaurants.

The terrace gets the sun until the sun goes down and has a table for dining with 4 chairs and two lounging chairs. The views across the waterside constantly stun.

This attractive, new property has a spacious living, dining and kitchen area with excellent wifi and air conditioning included.

New large bathroom with relaxing bath and shower over!

Fridge with freezer and washing machine.

Satellite TV. Weather can affect reception sometimes.

Wifi is included so bring your tablets for surfing and viewing.

Location is by the waterfront and next to the Port Rive Gauche.

Just a few minutes walk away from the port is a small local beach.

By the beach there is a water sports area where you can paddle board, kayak or learn to wind surf!

If holidaying with small children there is a lovely park by the beach with brick BBQ s for all to use.

Just past the park and local beach is a new selection of stylish but simple waterside restaurants serving smoked moules, oysters and wine.

Marseillan is a lovely port and a stopping point for those travelling along the Canal du Midi. Steeped in history Marseillan is possibly the oldest village in France. The area was originally settled by the Greeks more than 2500 years ago and was a very active Roman commercial centre.

With an old village it is still relatively unknown but once you know about it beware as you will want to keep coming back! There are about 15-20 places to eat, shops selling everything you need - boulangeries, pharmacies, greengrocers, fish, meat and everyday essentials (all within a short walk).

Travel a little further afield and you can visit the old port of Sete, historical Pezenas, Carcassonne, Aigues Mortes, riverside villages, mountains, gorges and sweet villages such as Bouzigues aptly named for a bouzy, fishy lunch.

Getting to Marseillan is easy by plane as there are 4 airports within driving distance Beziers (20 mins drive), Montpellier (50 mins drive), Nimes (60 minutes drive) and Carcassonne (about 75 mins drive). UK flights are from Luton, Stansted, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh and more (depending on time of year). Also you can get a Eurostar train from London. Many people from the UK drive.

Bookings already taken for many summer weeks. I am happy to take bookings direct to save you the online booking fee that my agents charge.

About Diane Wray

I live in London but love Marseillan - it is my escape - to sun, beaches, boats, restaurants, cafes, lovely old villages, sailing and walks along the towpath.

Diane Wray purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Diane Wray chose Cap d'Agde area

The view over the waterside, boat-watching and people-watching over Marseillan Port plus the sun on the private south-facing terrace from croissant time until sundown. I waited a long time to get a property on this side of the port and south-facing!

What makes this apartment unique

A large sunny, south facing terrace is a major benefit (make sure you book an apartment facing south) if you want to enjoy sun from morning to sun down and sit and ponder the world, watch the yachts and barges sail in and out of port while enjoying late breakfast of croissants and coffee, lunch or dinner on the terrace.. Also rather special and a major benefit is the large bathroom with a lovely bath for a soak after a hard day on the beach - many places in Marseillan don't have the luxury of a bath...

Gorgeous apartment

  • 5 of 5

Very stylish and comfortable apartment in a wonderful location 2 mins from the port and all its amazing restaurants. Lovely furniture, comfortable beds and fabulous balcony with view of the sea for morning breakfast and evening drinks. Amazing patisseries and shops in the town and loads to do in the area. Really enjoyed our stay in the apartment and even got a prime view of the town's firework display from the balcony one night!

Contemporary apartment in superb location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Diane's apartment during a very hot August week. The apartment is well represented by the photos, very clean and well equipped. More like a home than a holiday apartment. Luckily the air conditioning was working well! The manager looked after us well and resolved a couple of niggles.

We travelled with bikes which we kept in the garage but plenty of parking outside for the car. We cycled every day. The circular route around the lagoon is in most places brilliant but around Sete and Meze the signage was challenging. Routes around Agde also recommended.

Marseillan is a laid back uncommercial small town with a mesmerising harbour. We spent many hours watching the boats arrive and depart and the superb sunsets.

Definitely recommend.

Well Presented Apartment In Marseillan Port.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely apartment tastefully decorated as the photos show. The place was ideally situated with a large balcony looking over the entrance to the Port of Marseillan, Ideal for watching the world go by, there are a plenty of restaurants in the port and also a short walk in to Marseillan Ville where there also some quality restaurants & wine bars to choose from. The soft sandy beach is a short distance away by the water sports area on the Etang du Thau.

If you feel more adventurous the cycle paths are easy to follow into Marseillan Plage or Sete. July & August are packed full of festivities in the area great to get out and enjoy the area.

We have stayed in the area several times in the past. Fantastic base to your Holiday

Beautiful apartment with a fabulous view.

  • 5 of 5

We had two weeks at Diane's apartment.

Marseillan is a beautiful little town, and the apartment is situated in the best place. Gorgeous views of the lake. And just around the corner from the bars and restaurants.

The apartment is stylishly decorated, lots of room. And supplied with everything you need for a great stay.

Diane couldn't be more helpful, especially as we are newbies to staying in gites/apartments. Thanks so much for a fantastic holiday x

A lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

A lovely contemporary apartment tastefully decorated as the photos show. The place was spotless with a large balcony with a mixture of sun, shade and views Ideally situated next to the charming small port with a number of good quality restaurants. The soft sandy beach is a short drive away which didn't cause a problem as parking is very easy everywhere and there is a clay court tennis club just 5 minutes away.

A great place to stay in Marseillan.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely, relaxing week in Marseillan. The apartment suited us well. Well equipped, beautifully decorated and a great spot. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the sunshine, admiring the view and watching the world go by. The weather was perfect as we only had rain on our last evening. We were there for the festival week so enjoyed the music, rose wine tasting, seafood and jousting. Didn't venture that far other than Pezanas and Meze as we were happy to walk and eat locally.

L & L.
