It is set within Vineyards and close to all the usual Village facilities, The Canal Du Midi at Ventenac with its choice of Restaurants and Castle Winery is under a mile away, The City of Narbonne just 20 minutes away and its choice of Quality Sandy Beaches beyond - Then to Gruissan where we think the best beaches are, in about 30 mins.

The property provides spacious accommodation for 8 Adults / Children in 4 Double Bedrooms with Splittable Beds + Babies in Cots.

The Old Winery is located on the very edge of the thriving village of Canet d'Aude (11200) and is accessed via a Private Drive, via its own Vineyard, Fields and Apple Orchard.

To the front of the Winery is a Raised Wooden Decked area over a Trout Bearing Stream - This functions superbly for Al Fresco Dining with its exterior Table and Chairs, As a Sun Terrace with Designer Grey Fabric / Aluminium Sun Beds and Sun Shade Canopy, Flowing Entertaining Space with uninterrupted views over the Infinity Style Pool, BBQ Garden Kitchen Building, Large Mature Garden, Vineyards and the beautiful Mountains in the far distance - There is immediate access to 11 Acres of adjacent land where Horses graze quietly and many further Vineyards with gravel roads with public access for walking and biking beyond.

The property enjoys use of its own exclusive use Pool (Good for cooling off on those very hot Summer days) set within the raised Wooden Decked Terrace with its far reaching views.

From the Terrace there is a Large Open Plan Modern Kitchen accessed via two sets of French Doors.

Fabulous Holiday Property near Narbonne

I would highly recommend this property. We spent a wonderful week here with friends and family for my 60th birthday. We booked Le Manoir and the Old Winery together. They are two beautiful properties, lovingly and tastefully restored. We loved every minute – from the bright, airy rooms and crisp white linens to the pool and the lush gardens of fruit and flowers.

The 2 houses work really well together with a simple connecting door between the Old Winery kitchen and the hallway of Le Manoir. But they are both fully equipped and work equally well as self-contained units.

The kitchen is the heart of the Old Winery and we spent leisurely hours at the long table before spilling out onto the sundeck by the pool.

Melanie and Jay are such helpful and welcoming hosts. Local provisions awaited us on arrival – bread, wine, jam to get you started – and there is an honour system for buying the local wine. Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need for a relaxing holiday. (NB the master bedroom is a huge room with fabulous en-suite facilities while the 3 bedrooms on the second floor are relatively small and share a bathroom).

Canet is such a great location, just steps from the Canal du Midi and only a short drive to the coast, Carcassonne and Narbonne. It has a good pizza restaurant (we only used it for takeaways), an OK bar, a bakery and a small but well stocked supermarket. Ventenac is just down the road with 2 restaurants and the local wine cooperative.

Thank you Melanie and Jay - you really add the extra touch and make everything more special and we hope to return one day.
