Marine Villa, The Art Deco House offers luxury self catering family holiday accommodation for 14+ people.

A wonderful original Art-Deco House overlooking Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wight which is probably one of the most spectacular self-catering properties in the whole of Southern England.

Offering spectacular sea views (and sunrises) over Sandown Bay towards Culver Cliff, this magnificent villa was built in 1929 and takes full advantage of the cliff-top location, and is probably one of the Isle of Wight’s premium properties.

This grand detached house has decadently proportioned rooms: all main living and bedrooms have large windows topped by stained glass detail, framing the vistas. Art Deco influences include an upstairs sun room with huge sliding picture windows to enjoy the breathtaking sunrises by day and bay illuminations by night. Huge stained glass windows bring out the oak-panelled hallway, magnificent staircase and galleried landing.

Sleeping 14 adults comfortably (plus up to 5 extra guests in bunk beds or sharing rooms- best suited for children/teenagers) across 6 bedrooms (plus the 'Morning Room' which has 2 additional single day-beds), with a magnificent Art-Deco lounge (seating 18 comfortably) and a 20 seater dining table, this house is perfectly suited to a multi-generational family get together (it has mobility access for wheelchair users) for a self catered holiday, where you can treat the magnificent house as your own, with total privacy for your extended family.

Just about all of the furniture has been rediscovered and is lovingly resurrected from the 1930's. From the walnut cocktail cabinet in the lounge (which apparently was used on the Elstree Studios set for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) to the stunning wardrobe and dressing table suite set in Bedroom 4, which were rescued from a house in East London, this house is simply Art-Deco at it's best.

Start your day in our house, by experiencing the most stunning and beautiful colours of sunrise, by leaving your seaward facing curtains open, even just a little so that you awake naturally. The sunrise photo shown here is a 100% genuine view from the window, taken on a mobile phone!

From the house, there are wonderful cliff top walks (or runs), you are right above the beach (actually it is a lot of steps to get down, perfect for walking off the dinner. If you have the excuse of a pushchair or use a wheelchair, then you may take the more leisurely slope down!) There are lots of cycle routes across the island. The whole of the Isle of Wight awaits you.

Included in the price are all linens (bedding and towels, except cot bedding), and free wifi.

The property is fully licensed for alcohol and we can provide a list of carefully selected magnums of wine and some fine champagne (and not at silly prices). For those seriously into wine, we also have a private collection that we can draw some exceptional cases of wine for the discerning palate.

Wonderful property for a special celebration

We stayed at Marine Villa for a week at the end of August and had a most enjoyable time with family in this beautiful house. Such a lovely location, fantastic sea views from the first floor and very well equipped for a family celebration.

Wonderful period decor in such a charming property, lovely touches added made the birthday celebrations very special. Would recommend for a special family gathering.

Quite stunning accommodation and grounds

A quiter wonderful art deco house, very clean and extremely well equipped. Beds and bedding were excellent for a good nights sleep for all 13 of us. The weather during our visit was good, so we enjoyed use of the barbeque, and the extensive garden provided ample space for the children to run around and hide, and for playing organised games. Views over the sea from the house were memorable. The house is extremely well situated, being just a few minutes walk to Shanklin, and a little further, but still an easy walk, to Sandown. A walk down steps/slope give you immediate access to the vast sandy beaches between these resorts. The train station at Shanklin was only 8 minutes walk away. The Hideaway restaraunt/bar on the clifftop path is only minutes away on foot, and provided a good alternative to home cooking, or just a place to visit for a drink while watching the wonderful views. Overall this was one of the best holiday accommodations that we've had, and certainly excellent value for the money.

The fact that you do not need a car to reach the nearest 'pub' The Hideaway as well as the beach is a real bonus. We just rebuilt the BBQ area and everyone has used it ever since (including ourselves when we last stayed there), so provided this weather carries on, its a great way to enjoy the garden. Please come back in the future, as we invest every single penny back into the house, all year round, this is a real labour of love for us, and the bonus is when people have fun staying! Absolutely Beautiful Holiday Home

We have just returned from a stay at the beautiful Marine Villa on the Isle of Wight.

This is a most stunning home, with many period features and objects d'art.

We would not normally submit a review but felt compelled to express our genuine appreciation of this Art Deco home and the way it has been lovingly restored.

The whole house is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds are extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. There is plenty of space for entertaining - especially in the dining room where there is one the largest dining room tables we have ever seen !

We were very lucky with the weather during our stay so we were able to use the large double barbecue and sit outside in the fabulous garden.

Marine Villa has STUNNING sea views and easy access to the nearby beach, therefore we would not hesitate to recommend this absolutely beautiful holiday home and look forward to our next visit as soon as our schedules permit ....

The perfect getaway for a special occasion

Had a truly magical weekend with friends at Marine Villa. If you have a large party and are looking for something special I'd highly recommend staying here! Each bedroom is decorated to an extremely high standard (there may be fights over who gets the master bedroom!), and the kitchen and dining room comfortably allowed us to cater for 14 people.

We were lucky enough to get perfect weather so got great use out of the large, beautiful garden. This is definitely a rental for people who appreciate beautiful architecture and period design; plus the views over the sea are as spectacular as the house itself!

Incredible!!

A beautiful and unique property which feels very welcoming.

We were lucky enough to stay at The Marine Villa to celebrate our 40th birthdays with family (aged between 2 and 74).

It was clean, all the rooms were well appointed, the beds were incredibly comfortable with lovely linen and towels.

The kitchen was a delight to cook in. Everything has been thought about. From the large and organised dustbin area to the numerous pots, pans, glasses and coffee pots.

We had a sunny bank holiday weekend and the garden came into its own. We had meals outside and the children had lots of fun hiding in the garden. The views were spectacular and the secret gate to the cliff path was a huge bonus.

Trying to find an excuse to go back.

The design of the house is so wonderful and so true to the designs of the Art Deco era. It is a house that as you wander around you will say 'wow!' as you see the original incredible designs of the windows, the views of the sea, the spacious lounge and the sun room. You will not have stayed anywhere quite like this before. We hope that if you stay with us, you and your guests/friends will watch our journey into the incredible designs of the 20's and 30's as we continually take the property back to the luxury and wonder of a bygone age, and maybe, in the years to come, come back and see how it has changed. It is wonderful right now, but will be truly amazing in the years to come. (we defy you to not say 'wow' as least 4 times when you first arrive!)
