Details for holiday cottage La Boulangerie, 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, 1 Ensuite shower room.

Situated on a quiet country lane with its own entrance, La Boulangerie is a perfect base for a holiday in Normandy. This 'petit' gite, is a charming converted farm bakery sitting in its own orchard of apple, pear, cherry and plum trees. The ground floor has an open-plan kitchen/living area, with staircase to the first floor. There is free WiFi, 32" TV, DVD player, with a wide selection of DVDs, and plenty of books. The kitchen is fully equipped - all you need for a holiday home. At the front there is a patio with a barbecue, parasol, table and chairs. Sun loungers, mountain bikes, Swingball, Boules, and picnic chairs are also provided, along with a fire bowl for those cooler evenings. To the side and rear there are lovely open views of the countryside. There is no light pollution and the stars are amazing. There is ample parking space on the drive. The cottage boasts the original stone and clay oven (attached to the outside) along with many other attractive features. Duvets, pillows, bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided.

All the lanes around the cottage are quiet, ideal for walking and cycling, and there are many off-road routes in the area. Within 3 minutes walk of the cottage there are extensive beech woods set on a hill overlooking beautiful rolling countryside, where you can walk or cycle.

En route to Brécey (10 mins drive) there are 2 open air swimming pools, tennis courts, and a park with a lake - perfect for an evening stroll. Opposite the pools there is an equestrian centre where events are held, and pony trekking is available. Also within 10 minutes drive there are fishing lakes en route to Avranches. Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a delightful holiday at La Boulangerie. The house is chocolate box pretty. It is spotlessly clean, and well furnished with comfortable beds. It really is a peaceful haven. It was absolutely charming. Peaceful, very quiet, very comfortable, with everything we needed to make it a perfect holiday.

It is perfect for 2 people to have a delightful time in a charming part of France.

We had excellent walks and completely unwound staying there.

The owners were very helpful and made the whole process very easy.

Brecey the small town nearby had really good restaurants, a really good

supermarket and a delightful shop selling delicious bread croissants and cakes.

.It felt so good to have our meals on the private terrace outside the cottage

in the sunshine.

We will definitely go back and will recommend it to our friends as a delightful

cottage in a lovely location. Thank you for a truly excellent holiday.

Stunning area cottage in beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on a very wet Saturday in march, by the time we got to the area after having sat nav problems and two phones that were not playing ball with navigation for us (probably coz we are dinosaurs )however in the dark we did drive past the cottage. we rang Trish the manager and she expertly guided us by phone to this delightful gem of a gite.

The next day we awoke to the beautiful French countryside, what a delight. The cottage itself is well equipped with everything you need on your stay, plenty of DVD's to watch in the evening, the weather was not kind, but nontheless we still ventured out daily our dry day was Friday, beautiful area, friendly people the markets are a must,so different to UK...hope to come again.

Somewhere to come again

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was lovely - the cottage is tiny but very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We loved sitting out and having our meals in the sunshine, alongside the butterflies feasting on fallen pears. Sweetcorn harvest in surrounding fields was Interesting! We cooked damsons from the trees, also cider apples to go with blackberries from along the lane. Local walks good, also Brecey and the lake. We visited Dinan, Granville, Villedieu, St Hilaire, Mortain - all interesting. Enjoyed good meals at L'As Gourmand (Brecy) and Le Port (Granville).

A superb little house with a cosy atmosphere. Great location for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with everything only 5 minutes away. John and Trish were great local agents to have when needed, thanks to you both. Paul and Sue, the owners were very accomodating in answering all my question and our thanks to them for La Boulangerie.

We will be back for a longer stay next time.

John, Tricia and Archie.

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Delightful cottage with everything we needed for a week's holiday. Very comfortable! The only problem was the lights fusing twice in the thunderstorms - easily remedied. Plenty to see in the area.

Great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

It is a small but very cozy cottage. We stay here with our 4 months old baby and have a great time! The cottage was clean and everything we needed for cooking was available.

It was nearby a lot of touristic sites like Avranches, local market at St. Hilaire du Harcouet, Le Mont-Saint-Michel, etc. We also went to the Omahabeach (about 100km). Besides those trips we spend a lot of time in the garden around the cottage.

One little disadvantage was the bedroom with 2 single beds instead of one double bed. The stair to reach this room was also narrow and steep. No problem for young people like us, but perhaps it would be a problem for older people.

We definitely recommend this cottage!

Kind regards,

Evert and Alie

Owner's Response: Dear Evert, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Although we explained that the stairs are steep, you will be pleased to know that we are currently investigating having them replaced at the end of the season.
