Situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park the cottage sits in its own grounds and is surrounded by mature woodland and lush green fields which provide the ultimate retreat for tranquillity and relaxation. Children can safely play on the rope swings, run free in the gardens or go exploring the surrounding fields.

Tyn Y Coed cottage is very well equipped for your stay and has a large LCD TV in the living room with a full Sky package and a comprehensive DVD and book collection for your use. All 3 bedrooms have TV/DVD players and WIFI is free and available in every room. There is a large collection of games which include many family favourites and plenty of toys for children to play with, inside and out.

The cottage is the ultimate base camp for an adventure in the Brecon Beacons National Park as well as being a truly peaceful retreat.

COTTAGE

Tyn Y Coed is a luxury 3 bedroom cottage sat in its own private and secluded mature wood land. The cottage is over 300 years old and boasts all its original features. There are wooden beams throughout, inglenook fireplaces, large wood burning stove, cottage latch doors and solid stone kite winding staircase.

On the ground floor the well equipped, traditional kitchen features a large range cooker, Belfast sink sat in oak work tops and extensive country table and chairs.

Saucepans hang overhead next to the range cooker and a character butchers block with chef’s knife set are available. After cooking a delicious meal, you can let the dishwasher do the washing up while you retire to the living room to relax.

The living room is large and extremely cosy and relaxing. Sink back into the large, plump, luxurious cushions on the settees and watch the flames devour the logs in the large inglenook log burner. There is a 40 inch LCD TV complete with full sky package and DVD player.

The sideboard holds a wealth of family favourite board games, and the large selection of DVDs and books will keep you entertained for hours. An abundance of toys and children's play things will keep the kids amused on rainy days.

There is a quality I-pod docking station for music lovers to enjoy and you don’t have to worry about the volume as there are no neighbours to disturb.

Upstairs, the 3 bedrooms are tastefully decorated with solid oak furniture, cosy lamps and quality curtains. The king size room has en suite shower room. The middle bedroom can be a twin room or a king size room depending on your preference. The third bedroom is a twin room.

All beds have pocket sprung, luxury mattresses with fine bed linen and luxury pillows to ensure the ultimate night’s sleep. All 3 bedrooms have TV / DVD players which can also play the Sky TV channels.

A family shower room on the landing area has a toilet and vanity set up with large mirror.

Patio doors lead into the gardens at the front and to the rear, from both the kitchen and the living room. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful, the perfect place to relax with a good book, or just lay back and listen to the birds singing and watch the Red Kites soar. It’s a safe haven where children can play while you relax. There are a few fun rope swings on the trees and the surrounding fields are there to be explored.

On arrival, you’ll receive a welcome hamper with our compliments. We provide fresh towels and bed linen and the log store will be fully stocked. So the only thing you need to think about is how to enjoy the rest of your stay.

There is much more to Tyn Y Coed Cottage, a fantastic relaxing retreat or a base camp for adventure, the choice is yours.

Wonderful Cottage Stay

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended - We booked a stay for 4 and were completely blown away by the cottage & the location. Such a lovely build, well kept and modernized but without taking away the charm that would be expected from an original building. Spent many hours soaking in the hot tub after our walk in the mountains and also relaxing by the real wood fireplace. Will definitely stay again without question!

Fantastic property in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful short break in a lovely period cottage, everything you need is provided along with a tasty little welcome hamper, our grown up children enjoyed the hot tub. We had a fantastic time visiting family in Brecon and would recommend a visit to llangorse lake. The spiral staircase with rope handrail could be so bit tricky for the elderly or young children but don't let that put you off, highly recommended.

Idyllic and fully equipped

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved this place. I booked it as a surprise trip for my wife and I and it was heavenly. The owners have gone to great lengths to supply everything you need for a home from home. Instructions are provided for making the perfect fire in the wood burner and everything is in fan condition. It is so peaceful round there. The icing on the cake of course is the hot tub. Sitting in the hot tub under the stars with a glass of bubbly (in the thoughtfully provided safety glasses) was an unforgettable experience. Loved it so much we've now bought a hot tub at home. Thank you so much. Can't recommend highly enough.

Location

From the Owner

We have visited the Brecon Beacons for years staying in Cottages over the school holidays & Christmas period. We love the Brecon Beacons so much we decided to buy our own holiday Cottage. We looked at lots of different Cottages until we found Tyn Y Coed. We absolutley fell in love! It was bursting with Character, retaining many of its original features from 300 hundred years ago. We purchased it & renovated it through out turning it into a 5 star holiday Cottage.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : at 1 Miles Nearest Golf : at 4 Miles Car: necessary

Dan yr OgofDan-yr-Ogof and the National Showcaves Centre for Wales

This is one of the most popular place to visit in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It’s one of the most significant natural networks of subterranean passages and caverns in Britain. It attracts experienced cavers as well as beginners, and has been used as a location for Doctor Who (BBC). Loads to do for adults and children. An excellent day out. Look out for the 200 life size Dinosaurs!

Llangorse Multi-Activity Centre

Huge indoor climbing centre, zip slides, horse riding, play areas and much more.

Brecon Mountain Railway

For a dose of pure nostalgia, Wales’ vintage railways are pretty hard to beat. Jump aboard a lovingly restored narrow gauge steam train at Pant Station just north of Merthyr Tydfil, and relax as it puffs and chuffs away alongside the Pontsticill Reservoir – a short but delightful trip.

Llangorse Lake

The largest natural lake in South Wales is a fine spot for sailing, wildlife-watching and waterside strolls with shimmering views. There’s local history to explore, too at the Crannog near the northwest shore. Over 1000 years ago, this was the homestead of a local king.

Carreg Cennen Castle

There’s such an air of romance to Carreg Cennen that many an artist has been inspired to capture it on canvas or on film. Among them are JMW Turner, whose moody sketches of this splendid ruin are now in the Tate Gallery. The castle perches on a hilltop in the west of the National Park.

Pen y Fan Mountain

Pen y Fan is the one that everyone wants to conquer. It’s our highest peak, a wonderful climb and one of the most beautiful places to visit. Once you’ve ticked that one off, there are plenty of quiet, lesser-known hill routes to enjoy. Some are tough enough to give you a workout, while others are so easy you can bring the pushchair.

Waterfall Country

What could be more charming than the sound of a waterfall tumbling into a clear woodland pool? The geological make-up of the Brecon Beacons National Park makes it an excellent place for waterfalls. Our cascades are a delight to walkers, photographers, botanists and wildlife-watchers alike.

StargazingStargazing in our Dark Sky Reserve

Very few communities are so committed to eliminating light pollution that they have been granted International Dark Sky Reserve status. The Brecon Beacons National Park was the fifth in the world. On a clear, moonless night, you can gaze in awe at the magnitude of the Milky Way in pitch black surroundings.

Llanthony Valley

Llanthony Valley is a place of magical beauty, history and spirituality in the Black Mountains to the north of Abergavenny. In the valley you’ll find the atmospheric ruins of the 12th century Llanthony Priory and, at Capel-y-Ffin, a 19th century monastery, part of which was once the sculptor Eric Gill’s home.

The cottage is the ultimate base camp for an adventure in the Brecon Beacons National Park as well as being a truly peaceful retreat.
