In the heart of Rome Ideally located walk by from top sites to be seen, train station, restaurants, shops, and transport
This stunning stylish residence is set in a quiet street in the heart of Rome in one of the most chic neighborhoods (with the finest hotels and brand-shops), between Via Veneto, the Parioli area and the Villa Borghese Park. Inhabited since the time of the Romans, flanked by the Aurelian Walls (272 A.D.), and rich of archeological discoveries, including the IVth Century Sallustiano Obelisk, now moved on top of the Spanish steps, the area was once part of the Villa Ludovisi. Many countries have their embassies nearby -- Great Britain, Indonesia, Japan, and the United State (The American embassy is in Villa Margherita, former residence of the Queen Mother).
The home belonged to Baron Gerardo Zampaglione (Rome, 1917- 1996), a career diplomat and author, who served as Italian Consul general in Calcutta, India, and Ambassador to Kuwait, Uae, Qatar, Pakistan, Switzerland, and Indonesia. An art collector and a passionate traveller, Ambassador Z. wrote many books, that can be found in the Diplomat Suite, together with old paintings belonging to his family, and with bronzes, Chinese pottery, and Tibetan Thangka, acquired during his Foreign postings.
This finely fitted apartment is fully equipped of everything you may need to enjoy a first class stay in Rome. It has been completely refitted in 2012 in a “globalist-chic-chromatic style”, by the mix of precious antique pieces, functional modern furniture, and warm, stunning colors. You will find a full natural wood flooring, air conditioning and heating system in all the rooms, fast internet wireless system, and two flat tv.
Large windows and the top fifth floor in an elegant building makes the environment very bright. The building has a charmy large, antique (and refitted) wood made elevator.
Our guests favorite area is the double living connected to a panoramic balcony, equipped with a seating area, local flowers, and the enchanting views of a typical high-class Roman buildings. Snipping a bottle of Rosso di Montalcino or another good Italian wine, is the best way to enjoy the sunset overlooking Rome and the mountains nearby (when the sky is clear), or to have breakfast under the Italian warm weather most days of the year.
The first living room has a sofa (double sofa-bed) area that can accommodate up to 6-8 guests, the second one has stylish dining table also for 6-8. The entrance and the corridor are large and comfortable.
There are two double bedrooms with comfortable double beds, one of which with in-suite bathroom. The second bathroom is in the second dining area connected to a separate, windowed kitchen, not too large but fully equipped (toaster, microwave, kettle, several gadgets and wine corner included) to enjoy Italian flavors or experiment with Italian food. Supermarkets and gourmet shops abound in the area. A common roof terrace, equipped with sunbeds and umbrella, is available to our guests.
“Ambassador Z” Diplomat Suite is the best choice for business or tourism travelers to Rome, or as a hub to visit Italy. It’s only at 15 min walk from the central train station (Termini), Piazza Barberini, and Piazza di Spagna. Public transportation is easily available to get to the Colosseum, the Vatican, San Peter’s Square, Castel Sant’Angelo, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, Trastevere, Pantheon, Fori Imperiali, Via Condotti. The adjacent Via Veneto was the site of the “Dolce Vita”, and has restaurants, boutiques, and luxury hotels, including the Westin Excelsior and the Marriott Flora.
Just across the Aurelian Walls, at 5 minutes walk, Villa Borghese is the largest park in Rome and includes a Museum (Galleria Borghese, with many statues by Bernini), a zoo, relevant historic sites. It has a magnificent jogging circuit, through lakes, fountains, and ancient sculpture. Please consider that at Villa Borghese are available for rent Segway, electric bikes and risciò that you can use to get by a lovely track to Piazza di Spagna area passing by panoramic spots overlooking Rome city center. Villa Borghese is loved by younger and elder as allow you to mix you culture-exploring holiday with family relax times in the park playgrounds and zoo. At less than 150mt form the Suite is available (upon payment) a private parking center. On the adjacent Via Sardegna can be found the major car rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Budget)
This home is named “Ambassador Z” Diplomat suite not only in honor of the late Barron Zampaglione, but also for its strategic position and comfort level, especially tailored for international travelers and businessmen. For an extensive part of the year, it hosts diplomats from the nearby embassies.

Lovely apartment, very poor customer service
The apartment was beautiful, but we didn't get to stay there. We were met and quickly shown round by a young lady in a bit of a rush, who spoke very little English. There was no local info that we could find, and on looking around we discovered that several issues that had been pointed out by a recent reviewer had not been rectified. We phoned the number given for the manager/owner, and were immediately offered a different apartment, the issues were not immediately fixable. We had spent ages choosing this apartment, so were not keen but the details sent showed a bright smart apartment with pretty garden, described as luxury newly completely refurbished, so we assumed it would have every facility. We asked if it was quiet as that was one our main criteria, and took a taxi to move .
The other apartment was not as the enhanced photos and description made it appear, but we were now tired and weary, and it seemed acceptable, even though nowhere near the luxury described.
Big mistake, no air con and again items listed not there or not working, unkempt garden, and worst of all so noisy that we had to resort to moving a mattress onto the living room floor where it was quieter, to get any sleep.
We phoned and mailed telling management our issues and saying how upset we were. Eventually we received a mail saying they were sorry and always tried to give good service, the issues must be because of a misdirect communication, a term also used to the previous reviewer. Nothing else was done, we heard nothing else, and just wanted to make the most of things by now.
We had booked until Saturday as we had a late flight on Friday and wanted to stay in the apartment until ready to leave On Friday we received a mail saying the cleaner was coming in the afternoon and our transfer, which we had not asked for, was booked. They had our departure date wrong so more mails etc to sort it out and convince them that the iron which was dangerous when we arrived was not damaged by us.
The reviews this company received early in the year were one of the reasons we booked with them, but something has gone seriously wrong since then. They claim to be a team able to deal with customer problems and provide a great service, but it is clearly not true and they didnt even seem to care about us, it felt as if we were just being a nuisance.
They need to accept that they have problems before they can deal with them. I hope other guests do not have the same unhappy experience.
Lovely property, incompetent management.
The apartment itself was lovely and situated in a good location for sightseeing in Rome. If the holiday were without incident this would easily have rated four stars, even five.
However, from our first day, a series of problems arose which the management were indifferent about responding to. On our first full day it became apparent that the fridge/freezer and kettle weren't working. Our daughters also discovered that the toilet seats were not actually attached to the toilets! All of this was reported via email and a phone call to the number we were given, and a promise was made that someone would be round the next day to see to these. When we returned the following afternoon we found that none of the problems had been rectified but that someone had fiddled with the boiler. From that point we no longer had hot water. There was no note as to why nothing had been repaired and the management couldn't be bothered to contact us to explain. When I contacted them again they at first denied that I had reported any problems, and then suggested there was a problem with the boiler (which had been working fine). When they finally accepted that I had reported these problems they seemed indifferent to the fact that; we lacked a fridge/freezer and had had to throw away a great deal of food that had gone off, and had no way of keeping drinks cool; that the kettle didn't work; that there was no hot water, which made washing a pain; and that going to the toilet was a hazardous experience. I don't know about you, but I expect thing that I have paid for to work. Sometimes things go wrong and that's nobody's fault. However, I do expect those I have paid good money to to make some effort to rectify those problems.
I suspect that the real problem here is poor communication in the office I was contacting so that the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. As I said at the beginning of the review, this had the potential to be a lovely apartment and a great base for our holiday in Rome. Sadly it wasn't, and our holiday was largely ruined by bad management. Good luck if you book with these people!
An upmarket apartment. Well- equipped and classy.
Beautiful apartment although we found it too far to walk to the sights in the July heat - but taxis were very cheap.
Met by a welcoming lady who was very helpful. Sadly, found that several things in apartment didn't work properly and were not able to make contact with the agents. We had a great week.
Lovely large apartment but issues around repairs and inadequate response
I so wanted to give this 5 stars. It looked amazing on the website and we were really excited about the stay. However there were some maintenance issues, at least one of the air conditioning units did not work, there were marks all over the second bedroom wall and the toilet seat was lose to name a few. We also had problems accessing the wifi (rectified eventually) but feel that this could have been prevented if we had been meet at the apartment by someone other than the cleaner who could not really give us any information. However we could live with this, the main problem was with the boiler. After 2 people had showers the hot water cut out, and when we found the boiler in a kitchen cupboard there was water pouring from it. I contacted our account manager (who we never actually saw) and she said it would be a couple of days before an engineer could come - we were going home in 3! The water poured from the cupboard for the whole of our stay which we had to keep mopping up. This really impacted on our enjoyment of what was a lovely huge apartment in a fantastic location.
Sorry for negative comments, this is a lovely apartment but you need to respond better when a client contacts you with a genuine issue.
Beautifull and Boig apartment
I love it and my family too, it was amazing, warm and beautifull... good location... I will stay here next time at Rome for sure
Very well equipped and great location
Recently stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed our Rome city break. The apartment was spacious and really well equipped, although the water pressure for the shower left a little to be desired. Really impressed by the interaction and customer service with Owners Direct and the property owner, who could not have been more helpful before, during and after our stay.
