The perfect spot for relaxation and sightseeing.

  • 5 of 5

The house is an absolute delight to stay in. It was spotlessly clean and felt just like a proper home. I had the choice of 2 bedrooms and chose the 1st floor, slept like a baby with the windows wide open - not a sound at night!

There is everything you need to cook proper meals - although there is a large choice of restaurants in walking distance. DON'T bring a car - no need public transport is so easy and cheap. The garden is lovely , very private with an amazing view. The sun goes off the garden around 4p.m. leaving a wonderful cool spot to enjoy the evening. I was here on my own to relax and do some work and the house and the town felt completely safe, all locals very friendly.

I hope to come again as this town and house have found a special place in my heart, a wonderful find. Thank you so much for sharing your home with me.

Beautiful House in magnificent location

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful property in a wonderful location with magnificent views from the terrace over the Provencal hills. It is very well equipped - indeed every time we opened a cupboard we found something else we hadn't expected! In the absence of air conditioning the traditrional shutters were invaluable in maintaining the house at a cool temperature.

Stepping out of the terrace gate you are immediately in the centre of beautiful Haute-de-Cagnes and a short pull up to the Chateau and a delightful square with bars, restaurants and pentanque pitches - lovely and bustly on warm summer evenings. The neartest boulangeries are down the hill in the new town, so a bit of a climb back up with your morning croissants etc.

We ate outside on the terrace all the time (except when dining out at one of the excellent restaurants) so took full advantage of the wonderful terrace with its panoramic views. The weather was really hot during our stay but the terrace was cool and shady in the afternoon and evenings and a lovely place to unwind.

Access to the property by car is quite tricky, up a very steep and narrow cul-de-sac which becomes pedestrianised before you reach the house. There is no parking, so in order to unload and load we had to just block the road and carry all our luggage up the remainder of the hill to the house. It's also quite difficult to turn the car to get it back down the hill due to the narrowness of the road. This was only really a problem for unloading and loading though, because we left the car in a car park in the new town (2 Euros a day when there are available spaces, and free between 6pm and 9am) and used the free shuttle up to Haut-de-Cagnes and the house - it runs every 15 minutes and is a godsend when you are returning to the house with shopping. There's also a free shuttle down to the beach which goes about every 40 minutes from the new town.

We loved our stay in this beautiful house and had the most memorable and enjoyable holiday.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

When we entered the gate we were not disappointed. Having seen photos whilst booking we were eager to see for ourselves, then there it was in front of us, just beautiful. We decided there and then to utilise the garden. Previous holidays meant traipsing around in the heat. Not this year, it was books, chilled wine and good food. When it got too hot we pulled the sunbeds under the lovely orange tree for shade. Above the house are some lovely restaurants. The shuttle bus was very handy, especially coming from the supermarket. There is also a shuttle bus to the beach. Finally the house was so lovely and full of character. We had a great holiday.

Owner's Response: Hi Billy, Glad you had such a great time and enjoyed the garden as much as we do ,its like another world when you are stocked up with fresh food and wine , often its enough just to relax and take in the scenery. When you are in the mood theres so much to do and explore you could be there for months -its what we are working on, Thanks again Simon

Beautiful and charming!

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with the photos of the cottage and chose it as a treat for myself to celebrate a significant birthday with three other adults. We were all single so made full use of the sleeping arrangements. The cottage did not disappoint! Very comfy on the inside and the terrace was a delight. I was very happy! We followed the instructions given to find our bus easily from the airport, we also went to Vence, Antibes and Old Nice using buses, very easy and only 2 euros! Stepping out of the cottage into the village was a daily experience that I don't think I'd ever tire of! Full of charm and atmosphere, do explore! Simon was always friendly and helpful with sound advise and happy to share his love of Maison Azur. I can't wait to return!

We have just had a great stay Maison Azur very well equipped for our weeks stay. Garden with a lovely orange tree breakfast on the patio every day as sun shining. Our first visit to South of France and staying here has certainly not made it our last. Excellent contact with Simon the owner everything was so straight forward on arrival at airport with information given.

Thanks for a great holiday. Jackie and Peter Dawson

Everything we wanted in a dream vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Maison Azur is so charming, so comfortable, so serene and beautiful, privatel and welcoming, we were hard put to pry ourselves away for outside excursions. Four of us, my sister and our spouses, spent a lovely week here. Cooking was fun in the well-laid out, well-stocked kitchen, and we ate out as well, walking up the hill to several of the many restaurants. Mostly we ate outdoors, so as not to miss a minute of the gorgeous view. I kept my green thumb happy watering the garden plants. I loved sleeping in my first canopy bed (which provided ample privacy from the room overlooking ours). Plush towels, everything spotlessly clean, fully equipped and supplied. I loved opening and closing the blue shutters and leaning out the deep window sills to watch the valley at night, distant street lights winking like fallen stars. We did take excursions, walking everywhere. Public transport is easy but mostly we enjoyed the climbs. Renoir's house was magical. The Chateau had a fascinating art exhibit. I can't say enough good things about this house and our experience in Haut-de-Cagnes. Simon from afar and Mim on the spot responded promptly to our few questions, not to mention welcoming us with croissants and a very nice Rose. What a fabulous way to see France for the first time.

Location

From the Owner

It was love at first site ,but not what we had come out looking for at all.Great and very rare to have a garden in the village ,its lovely to sit and survey the surrounding countryside and the lights of Nice at night. It also saves a lot of money to be able to eat outside with your own food and wine and not feel you have to go out.So glad we bought in this location as absolutely everything is to hand and no car is needed as the public transport is so good and cheap and so close to the airport.
