CASA OZ is a three bedroom house situated right on the beach in the very quiet, non touristy village of Bom Sucesso at the mouth of Obidos Lagoon on the Costa da Prata, 1 hour north of Lisbon., The house, fully renovated in early 2009 is in a location that cannot be bettered. A 10m stroll across the road is the white sand beach of a crystal clear lagoon with swimming, sailing and kayaking. 150 meters around the headland is the surfing beach of Rio Cortico. The house is about 5 minutes from the famous golf course and resort at Praia d'el Rei with the fishing port of Peniche and the surfing Mecca at Baleal a few kilometres along the beachfront road. The village is well served with facilities, with a restaurant, mini market, and a cafe all within 100 meters of the house. Grocery supplies and fresh bread are available daily. The magnificent walled Roman town of Obidos is a short 15 minute drive. Medical services, shops and supermarkets are available at Caldas de Rainha 25 minutes away.

Local attractions: You can search under 'Gronho Portugal' in Google Earth for a view of the location. The house is bookmarked with a yellow pin and called Casa Oz.

The property is close to the World Heritage listed Obidos, and an easy drive to the fishing village of Peniche, the the world renowned and prize winning golf course at Praia del Rei and the Marriott Hotel, the castle at Tomar, the Monastry at Alcobaca, the ferry to Berlengas Islands, the town square markets at Caldas, and even close enough to Lisbon for a night out on the town.

Wonderful Villa

This Villa is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. We spent two lovely weeks here and I can truthfully say its is one of the best villas we have stayed at with everything you possibly need and it is tastefully furnished as well. The lagoon is breathtakingly beautiful and the local beach is just as lovely.

The local restaurants are more than sufficient if you do not want to drive.

I would highly recommend staying at this villa for a very relaxing holiday,

Wonderful location

The location is across a very quiet residential road, literally metres to the boardwalk onto the sand and the most picturesque family friendly lagoon/beach. It is so different to the other side of the lagoon at Foz! We have been to Foz before but definitely preferred this side of the lagoon for the space and scenery.

The villa is well stocked with everything needed,everything worked as described. The garden was safe and secure in a quiet residential road. It was full of sun loungers particularly enjoyed in the afternoon by our 3 year old, sorry nearly 4, for an afternoon siesta! Vera the owner provided all the information we needed and the holiday and arrival at the property worked without any issues.

I would have absolutely no problem in recommending the house and area to friends or relatives and fairly confident we will return with family.

We actually wanted and had a lazy holiday. Each day we went over to the beach on several occasions, the advantage of location. In the evenings we walked onto the beach and towards the ocean to see the most magnificent sun sets.we also went to the surf beach at Rio Cortico, which just seems to go on for ever. We used the local bar(Bica) a few times for lunch, which was fun, ideal with our son. There is a very small supermarket in the village for essential items, such as Douro white wine and other items such as milk and veg and all at good prices.We used the Pingo Doce supermarket in Obidos which had everything as we ate in most evenings.

It is quite clear that this Side of the lagoon is known by Portugeese families both but not so widely by other tourists. We love this setting of lagoon and big wide open surf.

Stunning views in a fabulous location

We spent five nights in this extremely comfortable clean and well equipped property and our only complaint is that it wasn't long enough ! The location is fabulous , and so peaceful it was hard to believe it was Portugal in August ! Not suitable for those who need a hectic nightlife .Ours was a very last minute booking and Vera was unbelievably helpful and also recommend a great restauraunt for the first evening which was our daughters birthday. The children loved the bikes , and the hire shop across the road was great for two more . Try the paddle boarding , the instructors are excellent and the lagoon is the perfect place for it!

Fantastic house right on top of the beach

This is a great house, clean, well equipped with stunning views.

Across the road to a beautiful sandy beach. A couple of minutes walk to restaurants and a small supermarket. The owner could not have been more helpful.we look forward to returning!

The Costa da Prata is situated on the west coast north of Lisbon and largely avoids the excesses of the overdeveloped Algarve. It is close to magnificent historic walled town of Obidos, and the hot spa town of Caldas da Rainha, and a short drive from the world heritage monastery at Alcobaca. Take the A8 north from Lisbon airport in the direction of Torres Vedras/Leiria. At approximately 65kms take exit 13 and follow the signs to Peniche/Obidos. Turn left at the first traffic lights to Peniche and then right at the next lights to Vau/Bom Sucesso. Follow the well marked road through a beautiful pine forest, until the stunning view of the lagoon mouth and the Atlantic tells you that you are almost there. Take first left marked Bairro 5 turn right at the traffic circle and No 63 is a short distance on the right. Welcome!

  • Furnishings and fittings have been recently renewed and are of the highest quality. The house has been renovated and updated. New kitchen cupboards and all new appliances were installed in June 2009. Linen is provided and the house will be prepared and beds will be made up prior to your arrival. Key access is arranged after payment. There is a very private sunny stone paved patio under a pergola to the rear of the house opening directly off the kitchen.
