Converted from old farm buildings this 5 trulli complex has been beautifully restored to the highest standards of workmanship and sympathetic reconstruction.
Two double bedrooms with deep, comfortable mattresses, one with en-suite shower room plus a single bedroom which can accommodate a sixth person if required. Both bathrooms are modern with simple stone and white porcelain furniture.
A dining room with modern glass table and designer chairs for six people. Stone kitchen with hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, hand blender, coffee machine, processor and implements for the person who loves to cook.
Large sitting room with fireplace. Safe and alarm.
Doors from all the rooms go out to the inner courtyard where you can sit under the fig tree. A separate utility room with sink and washing machine is situated outside the house, so no noise. Terrace with stone table and chairs for six under a pergola overlooking the hills towards Martina Franca and Locorotondo across the Valley D'Itria. Stone path winds down to the pool 12m x 4m with stairs for easy access. Fence around the pool area makes it safe for families with children. Covered gazebo where you can eat by the pool. Lights in the trees for nighttime. Established olive, walnut and fig trees in the field around the pool and designed garden with local, Mediterranean plants.
Parking area under trees for shade. You have your own drive from the road up to the house with a large security gate. WiF both internal and external, television, dvd and music centre.
The walls and floors are constructed from local stone and there is underfloor heating for rentals in the winter time. Fans are available for summer but trulli are cool in the summer even when it is very hot outside.
Family from Denmark, UK and America who love this part of Italy so much that they have made it their second home. We run a small charity sending dental volunteers to Burma to treat orphans and Henrik is an NHS dentist.
Sharon Bierer purchased this villa in 2006
Because we know the Contrada and the neighbouring two families who are locals that have lived in the area for generations. We have become friends and they hoped that when this property went up for sale we could keep it within our small group of owners.
Quiet, peaceful, extremely beautiful, yet close to the shops and buzzy, lively Cisternino, the centre of the 'in' crowd in the Summer months. Beaches that go on forever, excellent local food and wine........
The views are wonderful.
We stayed here for a weeks holiday. It was our first time in Puglia and it was the ideal location to explore the best of the region. The Trulli itself was idyllic and a wonderful home full of character and little touches that meant that we felt comfortable and had a perfect holiday. Sharon, the owner, was incredibly helpful at all stages of the booking and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to visit Puglia
We had a lovely stay in this perfect Trulli. It is simply perfect, great view, lovely pool, table-tennis, super kitchen, nice sitting room for the odd rainy afternoon - we loved the location too. You are 30-35 mins from the sea also, which is a big bonus. We had a great time, big thanks to Sharon and imma.
The house is lovely, beautiful setting in the rolling hills, with extensive views of Trullo dotted rural landscape and with Locorotondo in the distance - even prettier at night. The house, pool and gardens are pretty, and give a very authentic Puglian emotion - everything outside and inside the house is elegantly framed. The rooms are large and airy under the stunning Trullo domed roofs and the house feels nice and cool even on 36 degree days. We panicked when there was no AC but there are fans and we felt very comfortable day and night. The furniture/beds good quality, comfortable and the level of equipment for kitchen, TV/movies/games, bikes, towels, umbrellas/torches was exceptional - one of the best equipped Villas we have stayed in. Great to have Mosquito nets on all doors and easy to use alarm system. The owners and the housekeeper were there to welcome us and close by, and proactive at being in touch if you need something.
Loved it. The location is also a highlight as Cisternino old town is a hidden gem in Puglia - lovely square, cafes, restaurants, boutique shops - but most of all great people, ambience - bustling at night but not too busy, not too loud, just gorgeous Italian vibe. And Locorotondo, Alberbello, Ostuni etc all close. Lovely walks nearby also good for running/bikes - there is 22km trail that runs through Itria Valley next to the house!
We stayed in our 2nd week in a larger more expensive (+50%), stylised Trullo - but honestly missed this house and it's home from home quality and great location.
We spent 6 days here recently, and loved it. The Trulli has been renovated to such a high standard and is truly luxury. The pool was fantastic at any time. The location was great, with a reasonable drive to the beach and a short drive to some lovely villages in the Valle d'itria. We couldn't recommend it highly enough.
We had 7 nights at this beautiful Trulli and we loved our stay here so much! The nearest town, Cisternino, was delightful. We were in a great position to visit all the places we wanted to.. Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Martina Franca, Gallipoli, Alberobella. Sharon and her family and friends were wonderful and added to our amazing holiday. I highly recommend this Trulli for an authentic Puglian holiday! ❤️❤️☀️☀️🇮🇹🇮🇹
Beautiful part of the world. Kids entertained along with adults. Easy to be active or tranquil. Lovely views. Trulli had everything you needed and we had lots of fun and laughter.
Contrada Fantese is an old masseria (old farm), consisting of only three properties/homes. Our neighbours are locals who farm the land and mend the surrounding trulli. It lies in the middle of the valley d'Itria, surrounded by fields and there are superb views of Locorontondo and Cisternino from the garden. The area is close to all the famous towns of the area, Martina Franca, Alberobello, Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica (renown for its restaurants). The sea is about 25 minutes drive away with beautiful sandy beaches. The area is full of wild flowers, olive, fig, walnut and almond trees and local vineyards.
Cycle on the famous Italian cycling routes (2 minutes from the villa), visit the Bhole Baba buddhist centre for yoga and meditation, run through the countryside, visit the vineyards, cheese shops.
Puglia has wonderful, child friendly towns with the best food in Italy. Ostuni, Locorotondo, Lecce, Otranto and so, so many more. Meander leisurely before dinner with all the locals, chatting, stopping for an aperitive, seeing local architecture which has been influenced by Swabians, Arabs, Normans, Spanish.....
The ice cream you will buy in gelaterias is invariably made in house by local people with ingredients that they have grown!
You can visit the markets in each of the towns to buy your fruit and veg.
This is Italy as it used to be 30 years ago but the North has changed, Puglia much less so. The people are charming and helpful.
Local wines can be bought in cooperativos for as little as 2 euros a bottle. For just a little more you will enjoy really excellent primitivo, negroamaro and malvaisia wines. Wines in restaurants are rarely marked up like they are in the UK, a joy!
Your children can run about in the fenced gardens/fields whilst you sit by the pool and read a book, watching the swallows swoop down for a drink from the pool and the butterflies landing on the lavendar bushes. Life should be so tough!
