About Lee Ruddle

The last 5 generations of our family have lived in Steeple Ashton. Having lived in Australia for two years we were still 'drawn' home.

We thoroughly enjoy the rural aspect of our home and consider ourselves very privileged to live here. It has afforded us the opportunity to ‘live our dream’ with our family and much loved pets.

Lee Ruddle purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Lee Ruddle chose Steeple Ashton

My husband and I purchased this property in 2007, having fallen in love with it some 30years previous, it needed full renovation to become what we feel is the perfect family home. Following our children ‘flying the nest’ we decided to utilise the space and spilt the property in two and create a self contained holiday home. Prior to owning this property we had renovated another holiday home in the heart of Steeple Ashton and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

What makes this cottage unique

For many of us the hustle and bustle of everyday life is constant. However both we and our guests get to enjoy the relaxing, rural environment that this home has to offer with the added bonus of relaxing in the hot tub and gazing up at the stars. Its situation means we are surrounded by wildlife at its finest, enhanced by a brook running through the centre of the garden. Yet all of this is within a short walk of Steeple Ashton and all its amenities.

Lovely home from home cottage lovely surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The cottage itself is a home from home with everything needed for a self-catering holiday and the private garden area and hot tub were an added advantage. The owners were really welcoming and had left a welcome basket of tea, coffee, biscuits, eggs and fresh apples from the garden which really gave a personal touch. Well located for easy access to Bath, Salisbury, The Cotswolds and Stonehenge to name a few. We had a lovely relaxing week and would definitely consider another stay here in the future!

Owner's Response: We have had some lovely reviews this year and would like to thank all our guests for taking the time to write them. We will be closed in a few weeks for a couple of months so we can decorate the cottage ready for opening again in February 2018. I hope to have more fruit and veg to share with you all next year as the veg garden is now up and running also fresh eggs as we have recently hatched more chicks! We look forward to welcoming you back in 2018. Many thanks Lee and David

Perfect Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this beautiful cottage.

The hot tub is the perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing/walking and the extremely well furnished and maintained cottage makes for an ideal base to explore the surrounding villages and pubs. Would absolutely recommend!

We were hoping we would get snowed in so we would have to stay

  • 5 of 5

Everything we needed was supplied.

The property was decorated and furnished to a very high standard, and we especially liked the extra touches.

We wanted a relaxing break, and that is exactly what we got.

The owners were very friendly.

Lovely, relaxing and homely feeling cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had a great long weekend break. Greeted by our host who were very welcoming and gave great recommendations on places nearby to visit. Definitely had a great opportunity to relax both in the hot tub and in front of the wood burner. Without a doubt would recommend the hosts, cottage and area for a getaway

A relaxing rural escape

  • 5 of 5

We were warmly greeted on arrival by Lee and were made to feel very welcome. She gave us a personal tour of the cottage and recommendations of local places to visit based on our interests.

The cottage was lovely everything was thought of, and even in October it felt like we were on a tropical holiday in our own private hot tub hideaway!
