Spacious Flat, Quiet Building, Good Neighborhood
We had a great time staying in the apartment on Via Piave. It is located in a quiet building in a nice neighborhood. We felt very safe walking around here. There are some neat little shops along this street, like a bakery and several asian markets. Very few people speak English in this neighborhood though. There is also a nice laundromat across the street. It was very easy to get on and off the bus. Giorgio was very nice and helpful. There were plenty of beds and space. The kids enjoyed their own room and it had a little desk. In fact there were desks in each bedroom. The large room with the bunk bed is the only space to hang out as it is the only room with a couch. It is also very noisy due to traffic outside, but closing the shutters helped. The pictures show it as we found it. There are 2 bathrooms. Both have an okay sized shower. One is a spa shower and tub combination. The kitchen was a little small but we didn't really eat there anyway. Would have been really nice to have a normal coffee pot, not just the italian type. It did have a washer, but no dryer. We went over to the laundromat to dry our clothes. It was 4,50 euros for 30 min. It held more than 2 washer loads. One thing to be aware of if you are staying here with little kids is that there are a lot of pretty knick knacks and things for them to get into. I would recommend for the owner to store the breakable things. We didn't have any problems keeping our kids away from the decor, but we did move some of the easier to reach items up and out of reach. Another thing of note is that some of the door are a frosted glass, even the bathroom doors. We had to be careful to maintain privacy, because we were a mixed group. This could be solved by curtains over the glass or a portable screen. A map of the local shops, including a grocery store and some restaurants, would have really helped us. Other than these minor issues, we would definitely recommend this apartment/flat for large families, especially if you have kids. The apartment was clean. The air conditioning worked well. We had a really nice time in Venice and Mestre.
