DETAILED LOCATION

One of the advantages of the house is its location!

Location on Ile d Yeu is key!

You wont cycle more than 5 or 10' to go for your morning baguette or coffee, to shop in the market of Saint Sauveur or Port Joinville, to shop in the supermarkets of Port Joinville, to buy your fish from The fishmonger or direct from the fishermen, to drop your kids to their activities, to reach the beaches, to go out at night to a nice creperie or for a drink in one of the nice bars on the pier, to go to one of the numerous concerts or other cultural activities.

The house is on a bicycle path: it means no cars in the touristy season.

It is surrounded by the garden and is hidden from the path and from the neighbours: total privacy guaranteed!

THE HOUSE

200sq meters of comfort.

The house was built in the late 70' early 80' and its previous owner took great care of it.

The house is in pristin state and has all the comfort/is fully equipped for today's life for a large family.

Full description of the house:

- entrance hall with separate toilet, full of wardrobes

- bathroom 1 with shower and sink next to bedroom 1

- bedroom 1 looking onto the terrasse and garden, with king size bed, very spacious with a desk and chest of drawers

- bedroom 2 (blue room) with double bed, built in wardrobes, looking onto the garden in the front of the house

- dining room with access to the upper floor, with table which sits 10

- sitting room with pull out bed if needs be, open fire and buffet, looking onto the terrace and garden

- separate and fully equipped kitchen, with separate cellar

- cellar with further storage space, washing machine, dryer and freezer

- spacious garage for bicycles

- upper floor with bathroom 2, one sink and a shower

- upper floor with separate toilet

- upper floor with bedroom 3, with single bed, bunk bed and pull out bed (sleeps 4 children), built in wardrobe

THE TERRACE and THE GARDEN IN MORE DETAILS

The terrace goes from bedroom 1 to the living room. The dining room also overlooks the terrace.

It is South facing for lazy afternoon naps in comfortable steamer chairs.

It has a real sail to protect you from the sun when sharing your breakfast or your lunch.

It is totally protected against the wind as it is in L shape.

The garden has been designed by a landscape architect: simple but full of flowers all year round and beautiful trees.

I would say that this garden would not allow for crazy football matches although there is space enough! But you would be advised to have more calm children games!

It is totally hidden from the neighbours and the bicycle path to ensure you 100% privacy.

There is an outside shower next to the laundry lines for you to take away all that sand from your fun beach and sea activities before getting back in the house.

The shower is also hidden from other people eyes!

OTHER ADVANTAGES OF THE HOUSE

It has wifi throughout.

It is children friendly (babe-cot, potty, babe stuff + board games and children books and beach games).

We know babe-sitters.

It is accessible to wheelchairs.

it is never humid as so many other houses on the island could be.

About Gaetane

We fell in love with the island a few years ago.

With our 4 children (aged between 3 and 9 years old), it is the ideal holiday destination.

We like especially the mildness of its climate, the odors of flowers and trees, the brightness/luminosity, the sort of micro-climate which makes that when it does rain in Nantes it is not necessarily the case on the island and if it is raining in the morning it is so ofent the case that we have a beautiful afternoon.

We find life very easy on the island. The bakery is nearby, we do once a week a big supermarket (with home delivery) and then we go every other day to the market, we live on our bicycles, go horse back riding, play tennis, enjoy some beach activities, have barbecues, and admire the sunset on the sea front.

Be it in summer or winter, the nature is so beautiful and the house so comfortable that we enjoy this island all year round.

Why Gaetane chose Île d'Yeu

The first advantage is the location: location on Ile d Yeu is key!

You dont want to cycle miles to get your bread or your milk, nor to get to nice beaches, nor to get your children to the poney club, the tennis courts or the sailing club!

So here it is: we are on a path which is known as the 'dream location' on the island: mid-way between Port-Joinville and its vibrant (night)life in the high season and Saint Sauveur, the adorable village with its famous bakery and its beautiful church.

No noise and at the same time close to shops, beaches, activities.

A second advantage is that neighbours and tourists do not see us!

We are hidden by thick hedges and far away from neighbours.

Another advantage is the comfort of the house: in the old tradition of the island houses with white walls and blue shutters and at the same time with all the comfort of modern days.

We could make that house our main house.

There is no humidity whatsoever as we maintain the house throughout the year.

The garden is also a real added value to the house: full of trees and flowers all year round, it is the best setting for your lazy summer lunches under the sail, for your naps in the sun, for your afternoon garden games (although no football as it would damage the trees and flowers), for your evening aperos.

Besides, the house has everything you need for children.

It is babe and children friendly.

And it is adapted for wheelchairs.

We think it is the ideal house for one or two families with kids, or for grandparents with grand-children.

Proprietaire charmante et disponible pour toute question.

Maison super bien equipee pour deux familles ou une grande famille.

Nous avons passe un tres agreable w-e, a faire de belles balades hivernales et a recevoir, au coin du feu de cheminee, nos amis sejournant egalement sur l ile.

The island of Yeu concentrates in just 23 km2 a diversity of landscapes : long sandy beaches and dunes held with the help of coniferous woods ; a wild coast with its proud cliffs, embracing golden sandy coves ; barren moors where sea thrifts shiver under the wind ; sunken roads crossing anticlinal valleys or skirting cliffs ; marsh and “bocage” countryside and its numerous parcels where houses with low tiled roofs and colourful shutters are snuggled behind the foliage of willows and sloe trees.

Known for a long time as the 1st tuna fishing port of the Atlantic coast, the island has still a very active fishing sector. From the piers are discharged many fish : sea bass, monk fish, hake, sole, turbot, sea bream and others, not forgetting different kinds of shellfish.

The island of Yeu stays a highly welcoming and alive island, strongly caught by this sea fever which impress all, and sea lovers, when stopping over, even if just for a day.

On this island, our house is a charming and very comfortable holiday house super well located between Port Joinville and Saint Sauveur, meaning that you never have to cycle miles to get bread, big groceries, fresh fish, or to go to the markets, the kids and adults sports activities, nightlife etc.
