Overview

About the property

Villa with character in fabulous location. 3 bedrooms 2 en-suite +shower room.

One of the most beautifully situated villas, set within lovely gardens and nestled on a mountainside with spectacular views. The owners have been letting it out for holidays for over 12 years now and during that time have worked hard to make it a beautiful home from home and provide everything one would need for a perfect holiday. The villa has much character. There are two spacious en-suite double rooms (king-size) that both have attractive window seats in the round bay windows, beautiful views and fitted wardrobes and the bathrooms have baths with shower over. The twin-bedded room has an adjacent shower room. There is a lovely comfortable lounge area with tv & cd player and TV System giving English channels, German & many other. Very comfortable and attractive suite with seating that reclines and again, spectacular views. The dining area inside also has beautiful mountain views and also looks onto the front garden. Outside the back kitchen door there is a drying area and laundry room with automatic washing machine. The Beautiful new fitted kitchen has every appliance. Gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave oven and every utensil you would want.

Wi-Fi is available free. At the front of the villa there is another al fresco dining area under a pergola. This overlooks the pool. The views from here are wonderful. To the left there are distant views towards Arricife and the sea beyond. You can watch the cruise liners coming and going. The vista pans round a full 180 degrees to mountains and distant villages. On a clear day, through a gap in the moutains you can see the Island of Fuertaventura. Also, at the front of the villa, there is a summer house with plenty of seating where there is also a box of things for chidren to use in the pool. To the right of the pool there are a few steps down to the BBQ area. There is also a large garden to the front of the house which is planted with cacti and succulents and established trees. At the back of the house there are more pretty gardens and ample parking space, There is also a garage where, if requested, we can supply a key for storage of cycles or surfboards etc.

Perfect Holiday - again!

  • 5 of 5

This has been our third time in this beautiful villa – and again we enjoyed every single day! What we love most about Lanzarote is the ability to just calm down and relax from day one. And this villa with its spectacular view and all the comfort of a real home is the perfect location. Nazareth (respectively the entire North-West of the Island) is a bit off the beaten track, but still centrally located so that every area of the island is close by car. We really like this peaceful area – off the typical tourist locations like Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise or Puerto del Carmen (all still nearby).

We are a family of four, with 2 kids (age 5 and 10). Every kid had an own bedroom, but what they of course loved the most is the pool! And the parents loved that the villa is equipped with everything you need for a perfect holiday. For example, the kitchen is really well equipped, and there is a great BBQ area. While we love the restaurants of Lanzarote, we still like to dine “at home” from time to time – and whatever you need doing so is there. One can tell that the owners live there a few months per year.

Talking about restaurants: Lagomar is in walking distance (less than 5 minutes). Rather a museum at day, Lagomar is also a really good restaurant (and has a nice bar) at night. Definitely worth a try. Our other favorite restaurants are Cantina Teguise and El Risco in Famara.

While this has been our third time at Lanzarote, the island still offers new things to explore. The entire family loves surfing (well, the 5 year old is starting to love it, or the first few exercises…), and Famara Beach – the perfect surfing spot in Europe - is just 10 minutes or so by car. Another favorite spot for our kids is Rancho Texas Park: a perfect mixture of a zoo and a small water park. We really enjoyed the shows (dolphins, see lions, and birds of prey). And of course Lanzarote offers a lot more tourist attractions.

We will definitely be back! And can highly recommend the villa!

Owner's Response: Thank you Andreas, for taking the time to write a review. It means a great deal to Liz and I , to know that people feel the same about the villa and Lanzarote, as we do ourselves. You are correct, we do spend 3 months here every winter, not just to relax and enjoy it, but to do the maintenance and inevitable work that is needed to keep things as we like them. I sadly had to turn down a really good booking only yesterday, because they wanted to come during our time here, but we feel it is important that we do not become absentee landlords. So many villas that we experienced, many years ago, before we had our own, were just holiday lets, not at all homely or welcoming so you would not want to return. We are delighted that you and many more families return again and again and we are most grateful for that and want it to continue. Reviews are also very helpful to prospective visitors. There are so many wonderful things to do and see on the island and until you have hired a car and done a bit of exploring, you don't know how beautiful and varied the island can be. You mentioned the restaurants...there are some fabulous places to go, and so reasonably priced. Anyway, enough said, I am starting to ramble, Thank you again Andreas . Kindest Regards, Liz & Nick

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit this year and the villa was just as excellent as the first time - clean, well equipped, quiet, comfortable, and the welcome package was much appreciated. As we write this we are booking our 3rd visit for 2018 as this is the best villa we have visited in the canaries in the many years we have been there.

Lovely Villa in great location - we'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

We have been to Lanzarote for a number of years but this was our first time at Liz and Nick's Villa. It is a lovely Villa with fantastic views in what we believe is one of the best locations on the island if you want to explore by car. The Villa is very well appointed and we felt 'at home' during our stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this Villa and hope to be back soon ourselves. Kevin & Bron Cook

Perfect Family villa

  • 5 of 5

Having already stayed at the owners cottage in Cornwall we pretty much knew what to expect when we arrived and weren't left disappointed. Our 2 girls aged 10 and 12 were already begging to return and that was at the start of the holiday. There was plenty of space inside and out, the pool was great and everything was clean and comfortable.

We enjoyed visiting Teguise a small town just up the road. It was a quiet and pretty town with good places to eat. On Sunday this town becomes very busy due to the huge market but does have plenty of spaces to park.

The Museo Lagomar is just a few minutes walk up the road and highly recommend a visit unfortunately we didn't get chance to eat at the restaurant that was in a beautiful setting.

We visited Costa Teguise several times for food and beach. It was the best of both worlds with a small bay for snorkelling and a short walk around the corner a beach to surfing /bodyboarding. Just outside this town was the Aquaparc which the girls loved.

Unfortunately we couldn't visit National Parc as there was some sort of strike/dispute taking place. We would recommend you check trip advisor as this was not mentioned on the nationalparc website. Hopefully we will have a chance to visit next time.

We stayed for a week wishing we'd stayed for 2 (or more!)

Thank you once again !Nick and Liz for a fab villa and holiday.

Owner's Response: Thank you Helen for taking the time to review your holiday. What a shame that the strike affected your stay, you missed a very special experience with Fire Mountain being closed. There are a number of really special attractions to see on the Island that I think were all closed because of the strike. Mirador del Rio, with spectacular views of Graciosa where there is beautifully designed Cafe, built into a volcanic bubble, is a must. Los Cuevas Verde, the Green Caves and also Jameos del Agua, where there is amongst other things, a very interesting museum all about volcanoes. The really special thing is that all these attractions were designed by the legendary architect Cezar Manrique and all so beautifully done, using the natural volcanic rock and built into the landscape and features caused by past eruptions. It is also possible to visit, now the strike is over, that amazing man's homes. One in Tahiche, which is built into an underground cave system caused by a lava flow, the other in Haria. His home in Haria seems to have been left exactly as it was the day he was tragically killed in a road accident.. Anyway, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you will want to return to see all the things you missed. Kindest Regards, Liz & Nick

About Liz or Nick Leeds

I was born and educated in Gloucester. Much of my childhood was spent in the lovely village of Sandhurst. I attended the Cental Technical School in Gloucester and on leaving school went to Great Yarmouth to work in a restaurant for the summer season and then retuned to Gloster and worked the rest of the year at the Fleece Hotel. Later I went into sales and eventually started a business selling freezers and frozen food.( Home Refrigeration Co. Ltd.) with 3 shops. Brockwoth, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. In 1976 I sold the business and bought a hotel in Boscastle, Cornwall and 6 years later was able to buy a beautiful, but run down manor-house type property, perched on the cliffs, with 15 Acres of gardens and woods and fabulous sea views After 23 wonderful years we decided to retire. It was discovered that I had an aneurism on my aorta. Major heart surgery saved my life and it was this close call, on top of a few others I had experienced, that convinced me the time had come to retire. We sold the Hotel business and bought a house near Wadebridge , which we also let out for holidays when we are not there. We had already bought the villa the year earlier and found we could let it out for holidays quite easily. We found that the clients fell in love with it and come back year after year. We spend as much time as we can there (It is our home as well) and are making improvements and refurbishing regularly . We also employ people to maintain the pool throughout the year and Maria (a lovely Spanish lady) and her son Roy to look after things and do the cleaning etc. so we don't make a fortune out of it but we love it and think you will too.

Liz or Nick Leeds purchased this villa in 2004

Why Liz or Nick Leeds chose Teguise

We started visiting Lanzarote around 1990 and became regular visitors because it is one of the few places that you can visit in the winter and be pretty sure of some sunshine. Being in the hotel business, we could only take holidays in the winter. When we made the decision to retire we decided to purchase a property here so that we could spend our winters here and the rest of the year in our home in Cornwall. We spent months looking and viewed over 30 villas with pools. Oasis de Nazaret is considered to be one of the most desirable areas to live and when we viewed Otra Aventura the decision was made easy for us. The spectacular views, the lovely big pool, the privacy, the charm of the traditional spanish design and the lovely big garden all played there part. Having really nice walks nearby and seeing Hoopoes in the garden also helped! The other reason besides the property was the situation. Only 20 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from a great beach and pretty central to the whole Island. We saw some nice properties in Playa Blanca but felt it was too commercial, very built up and too far out to be able to visit other areas of the Island easily.

Oasis De Nazaret is situated quite centrally to the island so every area can be reached easily. It is a beautiful island to explore and there are many special attractions to visit. Before exploring the Island generally, you might like to explore your immediate surroundings. There are wonderful walks right on our doorstep. One of my favourite pastimes is walking and bird watching on the mountain behind the villa. Look out for the hubara bustard, hoopoe, linnets, stone curlews and the local variety of partridge. The north of the Island is particularly beautiful and a drive up to Mirador del Rio is a must. Haria is also lovely and there you will find the home of Cesar Manrique, which is worth a visit. Also in the north is El Jardin del Cactus, Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes, all of which are brilliant. RanchoTexas, which is on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen is also a great day out if you have children and remember to take swimming gear as they have now included a water feature. Carmen also has wonderful beaches and loads of shops restaurants and Bars and Discos for the younger visitors. Arricife Is the only big city and has a nice shopping centre and harbour. The Charco de San Gines, a natural lake, fed by the sea, is surrounded with a walk way with some good restaurants. The oldest church is nearby and also the cinema. The Timanfaya National Park is a must to visit. The unusual landscape is spectacular and to experience the heat of the volcano take the bus trip around Fire Mountain and maybe a meal in the restaurant is a memorable experience.
