Stylishly renovated, 2 Bedrooms with ensuite, sleeps 6, air conditioning

This recently renovated 2 bedroom townhouse is located in the 17th century village of Marseillan on the Languedoc coast, next to the Mediterranean lagoon of the Étang de Thau, about 1 km to the east of the Canal du Midi. A short walk from the village centre in a quiet street, but within the sound of the church chimes, this old town house is set over three floors and now boasts many modern features. Two en-suite bedrooms are located on the ground and first floors. The second floor living area includes open plan kitchen-diner-lounge; whilst a south facing roof terrace is ideal for al fresco dining on the warm Mediterranean evenings. Facilities include air-conditioning in the bedrooms and living area, TV with UK satellite channels (FreeSat) and French channels via broadband, DVD player, wireless Internet access and washing machine. In the ground floor lobby area there are two bicycles that may be used by the tenant. Marseillan has over 20 great restaurants and bars. Nearby family friendly beaches are located at Marseillan Plage and Plage Robinson within a short drive or bicycle ride.

We are a Swedish couple from the Stockholm area, who have been enjoying vacations in the south of France for some years. In 2014 we decided to get our own house in France as a holiday resort for us and our children.

Why Anders Palmberg chose Marseillan

We looked at many places, but decided on Marseillan, because it is close to the sea, and within cycling distances to beaches. At the same time, Marseillan is very picturesque with its old town centre and the nice port, that houses many restaurants. Also, the property is nicely renovated, large enough to house the whole family and has a lovely roof terrace, which was a must.

Wir sind begeistert von dem suessen Haeuschen, das mitten in der Altstadt liegt und mit so viel Liebe zum Detail hergerichtet ist.! Es ist mit Allem ausgestattet; was man so brauchen koennte und noch viel mehr.



Besonders wird uns die Dachterrasse mit dem charmenten Ausblick in Erinnerung bleiben. Der perfekte Ort um abends ein Glas Wein zu geniessen.



Einen besonderen Dank an David; der sehr bemueht ist um seine Gaeste. Wir wuenschen alles Gute und hoffen, dass das schoene Haus immer mit Respekt behandelt wird, dann werden noch viele Gaeste hier eine unvergessliche Zeit haben.

This renovated townhouse is located a short walk from the centre of the petite 17th Century port of Marseillan on the Languedoc coast, next to the Mediterranean lagoon of the Étang de Thau. Relax in thriving restaurants and cafés next to the marina, watch the visiting canal cruisers from the Canal du Midi or novices at the bateau-école, enjoy the famed local shellfish and gaze at the views across the étang to the hillside rooftops of Sète. While for those wanting sand in their shoes some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean are a couple of miles away. Access to Marseillan is within easy reach of FIVE airports served by low cost flights from the UK, and by rail link from UK stations to Agde, just 10 minutes from the village. For those who enjoy French roads it is within a day’s drive from Northern French ports. To the west is Carcassonne and to the east is Montpellier, both 30-40 mins drive. While the old towns of Agde, Pezenas, Florensac and Mèze are an easy bike ride away.

Notes:
The property is a renovated back-to-back townhouse over three floors (ground, first, second and a small roof terrace). We do not recommend the house for children under 7 years or for anyone with impaired mobility due to three flights of stairs. The road outside the house is narrow and while there is space to unload your car, overnight parking is more practical and free in nearby streets or central car park. The air conditioning is a reverse air system providing heat in the winter months.

Superb!!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable first visit to Marseillan. David was incredibly helpful throughout, his house is spotlessly clean, wonderfully well equipped, and ideally located for very easy acces to all the facilities that Marseillan has to offer. It also proved to be the ideal base to enjoy a very French holiday in an unspoilt French town. Wonderful !!

Very comfortable, and very conveniently located to explore Marseillan

The house was just as good as we remembered it from our initial stay back in 2010. Inside it is very clean, tidy and comfortable, with excellent facilities in the kitchen, living room and bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable, with excellent bed linen.

The house is very centrally located, allowing quick and easy access to the town centre, and only a short stroll to the harbour area for eating, drinking and people-watching...perfect!!

Lovely village house full of character with comfortable modern amenities

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely character property. The photos and descriptions on the website accurately portray the accommodation and the range of modern fixtures and fittings. The house has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of the space and it has been fitted with good quality modern fixtures and fittings. We were very comfortable throughout our 2 weeks and particularly enjoyed the lovely roof terrace with its views across the village rooftops. This is a nice quiet location but you are only a few moments walk away from the centre of Marseillan with its good range of shops, bakers and bars. And only a few moments further on and you are down at the picturesque port with tis bustling bars and restaurants. We have stayed at several different houses in Marseillan but this has been the best one so far. The owner was helpful and easy to deal with and the house was immaculately clean when we arrived. Thoroughly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful house in a wonderful unspoilt French town

The property is centrally located in Marseillan Ville and easy to get to by bus. The property provides everything you need and more for a wonderful vacation. The kitchen is modern, clean and fully equipped. The owners kindly allow you to use their beach equipment and 2 bicycles. Air-conditioning on each level makes it very pleasant during the hot summer months. The house is spacious and allows plenty of privacy with bedrooms on separate levels. There are UK plug sockets throughout the house which saves lots of bother finding the adapters. The house was immaculately clean on arrival. We have stayed in many properties in France and Spain and this one of the best. The rooftop terrace is lovely, once the sun has set to have a drink and watch the swallows. The local "Delicatessen" restaurant is worth a visit and the Noilly Prat bar is a must for a cocktail. We also recommend the Hotel Richmont at Marseillan Plage for fresh local seafood dishes.

This was one of the best vacations we have ever had - everything has simply fallen on a right place!

We loved the area. Marseillan is a little, calm and charming town. It is situated in a very beautiful landscape, surrounded by the wine yards and near to the Mediterranean Sea, the river L’ Hérault and Canal de Midi. People of Marseillan can in deed consider themselves as blessed. The whole region Languedoc-Roussillon is like a “box of chocolates” – there is so much to see and discover. We hired a car and explored the region. One positive surprise was the quality and maintenance of all categories of roads. You do not have to drive expensive car to get the comfortable ride.

The Palmberg’s house we stayed in is only a couple of minutes’ walk to the small square, where you can buy fresh French bread, locally produced vegetables and fruits, many delicious sorts of cheese and nevertheless good wines. There are also a couple of very good restaurants. To make and to eat food is a real joy here. Local people are very kind, helpful and welcoming – we felt truly good there.

The house has very interesting design which seems to be typical for the area. Bedrooms are on different floors and both are placed in the back of the house, so that you can get a really calm sleep. Our teenage daughter appreciated very much having her “own” floor with own bedroom and bathroom. The house is comfortably furnished and decorated with taste. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped. We enjoyed many mornings and evenings on the terrace, watching the beautiful sky, swallows and seagulls.

We wish we could stay longer and one day we are certainly going to visit this place again.
