Apartments and studios in a farmhouse in old stones

The "Residence of the Acacia"

offers to those who prefer the old stones to the anonymous hotels the space of relaxation and the adventure of their own discoveries in one of the most beautiful regions of the South of France. . . the P R O V E N C E G A R D O I S

In the valley of the Cèze we discovered an old farmhouse that has offered everything we have looked for a long time, with these two entries:

One that opens directly into the center of the old village of St. André which facilitates the contact with the inhabitants who gently welcome the residents. With the accent of the Midi we like to tell the stories of this very old village, on the "big 'square", in the cafe or when the butcher honks. St. André has kept an exceptional charm with these narrow streets lined with small stone houses, covered with old tiles, the beautiful flowers between the ocher stones where a few palm trees grow in secret in courtyards.

The other entrance to the "Residence" opens into the large garden, where there are paths that leave directly from our lot and lead through the scrubland, along lavender fields and vineyards (country wine and Côte du Cote Rhône), olive trees and fig trees. The Mediterranean light, a clear sky full of stars in the night, the scent of the "herbs of Provence" that grow around the house ...

Do you understand why we stayed here?

. . . you can also find:

wild gorges, clear, fresh water, rapids and waterfalls, a canoe paradise, rocks and cliffs equipped for climbing, caves and avens and a pebble beach for fishermen and swimmers.

And yet, St. André was able to shelter large masses of tourism - to keep his calm and his knowledge to live. Hopefully it will stay that way.

In the old house we have created some holiday apartments of different sizes.

Do not wait for a luxury resort of international style - no, we respected the simplicity of the house and the village. We try to practice a green tourism, together with the inhabitants. . . And that's just the beginning.

To shelter from the heat of summer or from a rain, sit down with your friends in the meeting room under the large antique vaults in old stones, a well-liked meeting place.

During the school holidays we organize from time to time all kinds of activities, depending on the seasons and the desires of our guests, for example hiking, climbing, visits, caving (do not forget a good torch), wood fires, various evenings. The program is displayed in the meeting room.

From time to time, there are also events of other organizations, which have rented apartments or the whole house (see: groups): for example language courses, practical workshops, and regularly painting courses.

The large terrace in the inner courtyard is a meeting place that facilitates contact. The hosts sometimes organize barbecue evenings, unforgettable especially for the children. Why not taste the good wines of the region together? Barbecue. JPG (608705 Byte)

If you prefer the tranquility, you will find all year round a quiet place, in the middle of nature and Provencal vegetation on our large grounds directly behind the house (hiking trails marked out from the private parking).

For children and teenagers, there is plenty of room in the wilderness - away from the danger of roads. Often we have seen the children of big cities playing for hours with stones by the river or climbing in the trees without claiming the TV or their video games ... and they are they who ask their parents to return the year next to find their friends of the "Residence of the Acacia".

During the heat of summer, our small swimming pool is the favorite place for children and adults. It is there for refreshment - real swimming is possible in the river a few steps away. Deck chairs and chairs are at your disposal around the pool and in the garden.
