Guestbook comments from the owner

Even though we knew the city well he was 100% focused in being sure we knew all the cool stuff and practical stuff around his apartment, and how everything worked in the house. He was the perfect host and has a very well equipped (great for cooks), comfortable and spacious apartment. Awesome light, clean, and ventilated.

Great location in Venice

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for several days in the ground floor apartment of this set. The apartment is spacious, clean and has clearly been renovated fairly recently, as all the furniture, appliances, etc. were in very good shape. It's best feature, though, is its location. It is on a quiet calle, but is only a minute's walk from the Accademia Bridge, which is the part of Venice I enjoy most (western San Marco/Dorsoduro). If you're into bigger crowds though, Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge are only 10-15 minute walks. There are vaporetto, Alilaguna and traghetto stops all within five or fewer minutes walking, even with baggage, so access to wider Venice is easy. We ate pretty much all of our meals within 10 or so minutes of the apartment, and all were very good.

One thing to note, just in passing. Since this is a ground floor apartment, not much natural light will make its way in. Not at all uncommon in lower level apartments in these narrow streets. Not an issue if you're out exploring most of the day, but if you plan to stay in more, and this is imortant to you, you may favour one of Gabriele's upper level apartments.

Highly recommended as a good base for Venice explorations.

A well equipped and very convenient ground floor apartment in San Marco.

  • 4 of 5

Dear Gabriele, we had a most enjoyable stay in your one bed apartment very near to the wonderful Campo Santo Stefano, all equipment and furnishings were clean, modern and of good quality, perfectly adequate for our needs. We would certainly recommend it for a short stay, it is so near to most of the interesting parts of your wonderful city. Venice needs to be explored on foot, and water-taxis will take you up and down the Canal Grande just across Accademia Bridge, which is a very short walk from the apartment. We hope to return in the not too distant future to the magic that is Venetia! It is SUCH a special place.

very good location for the money

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week in mid April. The flat on the ground floor is for 2-3 people and has a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. The double bedroom is spacious with good storage. Overall it is a very comfortable flat in a great location (2 min to Academia bridge) and quite. At the church in Campo San Stefano (1 min) there are great concerts, and it's quite close to restaurants and a supermarket. To San Marco it's only a 10 min walk, the same to Rialto.

The only drawback for us was that on the ground floor you don't get much light during the day, but during summer this might be quite an advantage. The added plus is that you don't have any more stairs to climb!

We would recommend this flat to our friends.

Ca'Vitturi is a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I agree this is a wonderful place to stay. The apartment itself is exceptional. So is the location.

The apartment is on the ground floor. No stairs. Your own entrance. A large kitchen with modern, quality appliances and space for dining. A large bedroom, a comfortable sitting room with tv, and a large bathroom. All very attractive. The spaciousness and the quiet makes it easy to relax after a busy day.

The location is great for several reasons. There’s a large piazza (S. Stephano) a hundred feet away. It’s got three restaurants, ranging from good to excellent. A little farther is the Accademia bridge over the Grand Canal, and, on the other side, is the Museo Accademia, which has the most important collection of Venetian art in the city.

There’s also a major vaporetto stop on the other side of the Accademia bridge. It handles all vaporetto lines. Because of the museum, the bridge, and all the lines, it’s very busy. There’s another vaporetto stop just as close named S. Samuele. It’s like a private station, because there’s no bridge nearby and it only handles the “2” line and the “N” line. Both are express lines. They don’t stop everywhere like the “1”, so they get less traffic, and they get you where you’re going a lot quicker. The “2” line is especially valuable because goes to the train station! When you arrive in Venice by train, it only takes a few stops on the “2” and you’re already home.

What else is there to say? You’re close to the action, but you’re well-insulated from it. You’ve got a wonderful concert hall on the piazza--a handsome baroque church--where we heard an excellent performance of The Four Seasons by an Italian ensemble. You’re only two vaporetto stops from P. San Marco, and you can walk there easily. You’re one stop from the Rialto Bridge.

Finally, the owner, Gabriele, is very knowledgeable and responsible. Next time we can afford a trip to Venice, Ca’Vitturi will be first on our list.
