Beehive Cottage is a quintessential Cotswold stone cottage, which is beautifully presented and is located in the small, picturesque village of Poulton, close to Cirencester, the largest market town in the Cotswolds. Although small, Poulton has a well-regarded pub, a village shop and Post Office, and there is a children's playground and playing field directly across the lane from the cottage. The village is very well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside, visiting the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, or visiting famous places such as Bath, Oxford or Stratford-upon-Avon.
Beehive Cottage has been lovingly renovated by its interior designer owner, who has brought out all the traditional character of the cottage, including the stunning inglenook fireplace with a secret spiral staircase behind it, old oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls. The character of the cottage is complemented by its modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a flatscreen TV and a well presented kitchen.
The cottage sleeps a maximum of 6+1 people, in three bedrooms (with the +1 being on a day bed in a twin bedroom), with two bathrooms. There is a beautiful, enclosed garden and off-street parking for two cars, with free on street parking readily available. Beehive Cottage is an ideal retreat for friends, couples or a family, looking for a luxurious holiday in a peaceful Cotswold village.
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is seven guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than seven guests at the property.
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.
Bed linen and towels
Egyptian Cotton bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 3pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.
Bed sizes and configurations
Bedroom 1 (Butterfly room): King size or 2 x 75cm single beds
Bedroom 2 (Flora room): Double bed
Bedroom 3 (Forna room): 2 x single beds + 1 day bed
Family bathroom: Bath, toilet, wash basin and electric towel rail
Bathroom 2 (ground floor): Walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin and electric towel rail
Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an electric central heating system and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor.
Electricity is included in the letting price. There is a large wood burning stove in the ground floor living room and logs are provided under a fair usage policy. We would request that if guests use further supplies from the outside bin store which will not be locked, that they leave a donation in the honesty jar. Please note that free logs are normally available, but, on occasion, there may be situations when the previous guests have used up all the logs and the log supply cannot be replenished immediately.
The property has free wireless internet access and a Freeview TV with DVD player.
There is a telephone at the property. Mobile phone reception is weak inside the property, but slightly better outside.
The property has a driveway, with parking space for two or three cars. Further quiet, on street parking is freely available.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and a high chair are provided. There is a safety gate to prevent small children climbing the secret steps behind the fireplace in the living room.
The property's garden is enclosed, however, children should be supervised at all times.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property and has many character features, including steep stairs and low beams, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
