About the property

Ground floor apartment, comfortably sleeps 2 persons. Air conditioned bedroom.

Art Studio is an attractive, secure small complex of apartments in an enviable position on the west coast, close to Holetown, St. James. and nestled between the exclusive Sandpiper Hotel and Discovery Bay Beach Hotel. There is direct access to a beautiful beach and the Caribbean Sea.

The well-established trees and brightly coloured plants give plenty of opportunity to find a secluded, shaded space with lots of garden chairs and loungers. There is a daily maid service with the bed linen, hand and bath towels changed twice weekly. We do provide beach towels. There are a number of books in the apartment giving comprehensive information on how to get the most from your time on the island. Our ground floor apartment is comfortable, and tastefully furnished with modern appliances throughout.

The bedroom has air conditioning. There is free, unlimited use of our wireless internet facilities. Art Studio has a relaxed tropical feel, and is perfect for a romantic getaway at any time of the year.

Places of interest:

The dazzling white beaches at Art Studio are just part of the island's beauty. The coral reefs that surround it host stunning marine life, while the landscape of sugar cane fields, pasture and native woodland are home to abundant native flora and fauna. Bajans (as the Barbadian people call themselves) are perhaps the island's greatest asset. Their friendliness is legendary and they celebrate local traditions with such pride and joy that you are bound to get drawn into the festivities. You are assured a very warm welcome from our friendly staff whose service and hospitality is second to none.

Barbados is also famous for wonderful cuisine, exquisite rum, a thriving artistic community and the infectious beat of calypso and reggae.

As well as excellent diving, sailing and game fishing, Barbados offers plenty of opportunity for land-based pursuits, with high quality horse racing at historic Garrison Savannah, prestigious golf tournaments, top-class polo and, of course, cricket!

Full time Staff:

We are most fortunate to enjoy the services of a very loyal and professional staff.

Should you require groceries for your first night, then Helena, our maid, will arrange this.

Helena will clean and tidy daily, other than Tuesday, her day off and Public holidays.

The bed linen and towels will be changed twice weekly.

This maid service is included in the price of the apartment rental.

Barbados is very well served by a public bus service, which is both frequent and inexpensive.

The nearest Bus stops are very close by.

The information book in the apartment is quite detailed, but if you cant find what you are looking for, then any of the staff will be very happy to assist you.

Eating out.:

Art Studio is less than a five minutes walk from 1st and 2nd Street, Holetown, where you will find an amazing array of restaurants, bars and clubs.

If we start with 2nd Street here you will find The Piano Bar, where there is a party going on most nights of the week, but their liveliest nights are on the weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They always have live entertainment with someone on the piano, and on a Sunday evening they have karaoke. Here you can spot some very famous personalities, staying on the west coast . You will find both Mediterranean and Cantonese food nearby.

If you fancy eating Indian food then head to Sitar.

For pizza and Italian food lovers, then you should head to Spago.

For those who like French cuisine and fresh seafood,The Mews is the place for you.

The recently opened Lime Grove Complex opposite !st & 2nd Street offers further opportunities for day day time dining, together with the most impressive array of world renowned shops

This is an extract from their own web site:

Limegrove Lifestyle Centre has emerged as the most stylish place to shop, dine, and lime for all visitors and residents of Barbados .

Limegrove, Barbados' first mixed use lifestyle centre, is located in the heart of Holetown, covers ten acres and includes approximately 85,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

The Centre is home to many of the world's leading retail brands, while The Grove offers the finest in contemporary Caribbean living.

Revitalizing historic Holetown and sited in the luxury residential belt of St James, Limegrove is ideally located just a stone's throw from the wonderful beaches of the Caribbean Sea's platinum coast, Sandy Lane, Royal Westmoreland, Sugar Hill, and Apes Hill. Limegrove provides a blend of colonial charm together with irresistible, exciting, sophisticated experience for home owners, visitors, and West Indian residents.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are delighted with and proud of the feed back we have received from our guests, so many of whom express a genuine desire and eagerness to return to us.

We do not to attempt to undermine others at Art Studio, with claims of superiority, but simply state that we are extremely confident that our properties are well furnished, well decorated, and that we have done everything possible to provide a very relaxing and comfortable environment.

These apartments are our home for several months of the year, and we strive to make everything just perfect.

Fantastic location & incredible value!!

  • 5 of 5

Just spent 9 amazingly restful nights at John & Sue's beach apartment. The location is superbe, just steps away from an almost secluded beach. Just a little further away, you'll reach Folkestone Marine Park or Holetown beach's main hub (Surfside/Zaccio's bars). A small path from the complex leads you to the main road where you'll find north/southbound bus stops on the corner. Just 2-5 minutes away from all of the amenities that Holetown has to offer (Limegrove, Rubis, restaurants, coffee shops, clubs/bars). Fabulous street food just across the street at the Trent playing field. Massy supermarket is closed until Nov 2017, however gas station/convenience store Rubis provided all of the necessary staples.

The apartment #1 is so charming - the pictures do not do it justice. Smartly designed layout, with TONS of storage space. Just marvellous for the price that I paid! Having the front porch enclosed is so lovely in the evening for relaxing. The garden is right outside your door if you wish to lounge on the sun chairs. Plenty of shutters and celing fans to provide delicious cooling breeze. Air conditioning in the bedroom was a godsend at night (when shutters were closed). I have a serious bug phobia and ecstatic to report that I did bit see any spiders, centipedes or other creepy crawlies! The owners have thought of every that you would need for a comfortable stay (e.g. they ensure the unit is sprayed daily for insects). As a woman travelling alone, I felt very confident with the level of security at the apartment and the Art Studios complex. Communication with the UK-based owners is top notch - inquiries are answered promptly and thoroughly. All vacation rentals should be this effortless. Housekeeper Helena is a real gem and will make your stay at the apartment feel like a home away from home! Thanks again and I will not hesitate to book when I stop in Holetown again!

Apartment in Holetown, Barbados

  • 4 of 5

The 1 bedroom apartment was fully furnished and conveniently located within walking distance of the beach. The owners arranged transportation to and from the airport for us.

A huge supermarket was located within a 5 minute walk from the apartment. Neighbors at the apartment complex were very friendly. We highly recommend Calabaza Sunset and Snorkeling Cruise. Lemongrass Noodle Bar and Grill was our favorite restaurant. While the apartment is located 1 block from the beach, it is also located 1 block from a major highway. Since we kept the windows open, the noise from the traffic was bothersome. However, considering the price of rooms at most of the resorts, this apartment was quite reasonable.

Nice Quiet Apartment Next to the Sea

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the apartment in early September, a slow time on the island. The apartment itself is very nice and provides a great quiet place to relax. It is right off of the Caribbean Sea and has immediate access to the beach. It is a perfect place for those who love the sun. The apartment is in Holetown and right on the main road. Guests have easy access to several bars, restaurants, and shops. A full grocery store is also nearby that carries almost everything you would need. My wife and I cooked most of our meals, so the store was very convenient to us. On the main road are the bus lines that can take you to Bridgetown.

The owners description of the property is pretty accurate. The owners are easily accessible via email.

The apartment is comfortable and clean. It has plenty of closet space and a safe. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances -- microwave, toaster, blender, plates, and etc. So my wife and I were able to save money by cooking in the apartment.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

In summary- great place to stay. Very near to the beach, under a minute walk. Well kept, well equipped apartment on the ground floor set in beautiful well maintained gardens. Table and chairs on the lawn outside to eat your lunch. John and Sue look after it well and it has everything you need to eat in and is well maintained. Daily cleaning means you can have a real holiday and not worry about end of let cleaning. We don't eat out every night so appreciate the TV and DVD player.

Very comfortable bed and sofa, the sofa is unusual as most of the apartments don't have one, it really adds to the comfort. Also makes it more relaxing if you are staying n.

Air con is provided but in January we didn't need it. Plenty of ventilation without.

We love this apartment and stay here every year. We would certainly recommend it.

Great apartment! Great location! Great value!

Great apartment! Great location! Great value for money!

We have recently returned from a two weeks stay in Sue & John's apartment.

Friends had recommended the apartment,

The apartment is very well equipped throughout..

We ate out most days, but when we did eat in, everything you could possibly need has been provided.

If you don't know the Holetown area, then there is a wide range of restaurants within easy walking distance.

We loved the fact that after a great nights sleep in a really comfortable bed, we could just put on our swimwear and within thirty seconds, could be swimming off a wonderful beach.

Back for breakfast; return to the beach, stroll for miles along the sand., take another swim and then dry off and sunbathe in the gardens.

Helena looks after the apartment every day, so you feel really spoiled.

The apartment is in good decorative order and the owners obviously maintain this very well.

Art Studio sits among some really fancy Beach side Hotels.

You could probably spend more on a one nights stay with them than you will spend on a weeks stay in #1 Art Studio.

The bedroom has air conditioning, but we rarely used it as there is always a nice breeze flowing down off the ridge.

Sue & John provided clear booking terms and conditions making the whole process very straightforward. and secure.

They provide lots of photos on their website so you can very clearly see what you are getting and nothing is overstated.

It really is a great place to stay.
