This is a lovely cottage with a perfect aspect and great walks nearby.

  • 5 of 5

The property was very clean and tidy and has superb views along the river. The kitchen was well equipped and it was good to find a small supply of essentials such as tea bags, sugar, salt etc and we thank the owners for the biscuits and drink they left for us. We felt that the cottage would, however, benefit from a small freezer to help those who self cater.

We had no problem in parking our car at the edge of the common, even though space was limited on some days. The luggage trolley was essential to move our belongings to and fro but pulling it across the common was hard work, especially up the slope near the cottage.

The cottage is very conveniently located for walks along the river side and there is a lovely RSPB reserve no more than a mile along the river where bird life was abundant. Getting in to Norwich was also very easy and no more than a few miles away.

All in all we had an excellent few days staying in the cottage and would strongly recommend it to any one else who would like to stay near the Broads.

Little patch of peaceful perfection

  • 5 of 5

We found Holly Lodge to be just what we'd hoped for from its description - somewhere warm amd cosy to relax and while away the time just watching the wildlife and river life. Rabbits, squirrels, swans, ducks, geese, herons, kayakers and cruisers were all spotted from the windows. It is equipped with everything you need and it was a shame that iffy weather didn't allow us to take advantage of the jetty or patio. However - it did mean we took full advantage of sitting in the conservatory, watching the river, under a glorious tree looking up and watching the busy birds in its bare branches, warm as toast from the blazing log-burner. One word of warning - just make sure you know where you're going if you arrive in the dark - don't follow the path towards Surlingham! Walking across the common to get to the cottage is not a problem - it just added to the sense of isolation and adventure! Lots of lovely walks from the doorstep. Loved it and hope to return again. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the lovely review. We have had a couple of people miss where the cottage is at night, so we doing endeavour to put the lights on so its noticed. We also plan to fit a permanent outdoor day/night light so guests can easily identify the cottage when approaching from Bramerton Common when its dark.

A lovely clean and well equipped cottage in a great location. Beautiful views and so relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage exceeded our expectations. The slightly isolated location at the far end of Bramerton Common in a woodland setting gave us one of the most relaxing weeks holiday we have had for a very long time.

A good welcome in the form of a bottle of wine and biscuits. The cottage overlooks the River Yare and we were able to watch the passing boats and rowers and the comings and goings of the boats mooring at the Common. The local squirrel entertained us collecting acorns and storing them for the winter nearby. The nearby Waters Edge restaurant provided some excellent food and drink. There are other pubs within walking distance or a short drive.

My daughter wished to carry on her course studies online for a few hours during our stay and the BT wifi was excellent. I enjoyed the fishing at the bottom of the garden while she swotted!

We very much hope to return at a later date do some more walking and exploring of this lovely part of Norfolk.

Great for the dog, great for the fishing!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely location, an interesting garden for the dog to explore and excellent fishing on your own private mooring. Until this holiday I had never seen a kingfisher but they were there to see every day! The cottage itself had everything we needed and was exactly as described. We will certainly return!

The property is in an amazing location and had everything you need for a great holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this property for a week at the end of August. The property was clean and tidy and all the amenities were as described in the listing. The weather was extremely kind to us and this just added to the amazing location. It would have been very easy to spend the entire week just sitting in the conservatory or on the mooring watching the 'world go by', but we dragged ourselves away and visited some great places in the surrounding area. The waters edge pub served amazing food and we received a warm welcome there. Places worth a visit include, Winterton-on-sea, which has an amazing beach, Blikling Hall a fascinating national trust property and Norwich with its incredible cathedral. I would recommend this property due to its location and its 'away from it all' feel.
